Focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the lens of impact evaluator, this study adoptsa service-learningconceptual framework and amix-method research design, combining qualitative approaches (evaluator observation, focus group discussions) with numerical assessments on 15 selected constituencies.Findings revealthat while solution providers express over-optimism about reported projects, beneficiaries encounter diverse challenges in experiencing the intended impact. Data from focus group discussions highlights both success stories and obstacles, showcasing skill acquisition through hands-on experiences. However, beneficiaries’ understanding on SDGs is still at a mediocre level, despite emphasis during planning and execution.Overall, the findings from this impact evaluation can be instrumental in informingdecision-making, improvingprogram design, and shedding light on specific policy areas, particularly in reducing multidimensional inequality such as income, consumption inequality and the quality of digital education in the Sabah region.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135297688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, skill demands by industry are typically gained outside formal education settings. Thus, a new paradigm of learner-directed study has emerged as a promising development for educational sectors. This study proposes a skill-based training based on the in-demand hard-skill industry in online settings, and an investigation of participant reason and reactions to the training. The study attempted online training in the topics of User Interface and User Experience (UIX) and Social Media Marketing, which were discovered to be in demand within the Indonesian workforce. The study was able to employ 434 Indonesian registrants, however, only 151 were able to complete the post-training questionnaire. The study's analysis revealed that the majority of participants were university students looking to improve their skill setsbefore entering the job market. The learners responded positively to the training procedures and learning approaches. This study concluded that skill-based online training has the potential to improve industry-required skills.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44647619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is with an end-view of preparing actions and activities to help strengthen their leadership skills in the 21st century era.The study is descriptive-correlational in nature, employing a survey questionnaire responded to by 80 TLE teachers from public secondary schools in Districts II and V of Batangas Province. Quantitative analysis indicated that concerning the 21st century leadership skills of TLE teachers, they generally agree that their school heads manifest strong advocacy and leadership (3.45) while they strongly agree that they display adult professional core (3.52), continuous improvement of teaching expertise (3.50), and results-oriented team (3.51). In terms of the strategic management of TVET programs during this time of the pandemic, they agree that their school heads employ various strategies for strategy formulation (3.36), strategy implementation (3.40), and strategy evaluation (3.41). Pearson’s R correlation revealed a moderate to very high correlation between strong advocacy and leadership, adult professional core, continuous improvement of teaching expertise, and results-oriented teams with their strategic management of the school heads. It was therefore suggested that school heads explore and initiate actions that will help foster their 21st century leadership skills as it was found that it is influential in the strategic management of the TVET programs, particularly during this time of global health emergency.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47786569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous studies have demonstrated that varying degrees of development of soft skills and hard skills contribute to the strength and capability of human capital. It is well acknowledged that knowledge and technology are rapidly updated in the contemporary world. This study explores how skills development influences sustainable employability through the lens of the Japanese language skills development program in TVET. Moreover, this research aims to study the impact of Japanese language programs in Bangladesh's TVET system on skills development and sustainable employability. It aims to assess how the skills acquired through these programs benefit both the domestic and international job markets related to Japanese language abilities. This research employs a mixed-methods research approach examining the participants’ perceptions and understandings of those TVET students who have enrolled or graduated from the Japanese language program. The research endeavours to conduct a theoretical examination of the human capital development theory and to establish a connection between the Japanese language program and its associated approach, knowledge, and method. By examining the research findings, this study found that the TVETs’ Japanese language program significantly positively impacts individuals’ hard and soft skills development, improving the quality and form of employability, increasing individual wages, and playing a supportable role in achieving the SDG 8 of decent work and economic growth. Several practical initiatives have been recommended to increase this language program’s sustainability in TVET.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43191272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many aspects of TVE in Vietnam have been explored by a series of reports of the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training (NIVET); however, there exists a shortage of studies attempting to focus on the process of TVE graduates’ employment experience in the Vietnamese labour market. This study attempts to explore the employment of TVE graduates from technical colleges in Vietnam, with a focus on their employment tactics. To base this study on a qualitative approach, the primary data sources were obtained through semi-structure interviews and self-diary on employment tactics and strategies of TVE graduates in the labour market within two years. The obtained data were subjected to thematic analysis. Based on this, results revealed difficulty in obtaining desirable and high-paying jobs even though it was not difficult to obtain jobs to earn a living. Also, low satisfaction and resilience due to poor working conditions were revealed. Three key strategies: maintaining low pay jobs to earn a living, updating their skills to get better jobs, and changing to suitable jobs were figured out by TVE graduates. These strategies gradually assisted TVE graduates to obtain sustainable goals of career promotion and professional development.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47030842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Services provided through digital platforms are an alternative to conventional methods. However, the use of digital platforms nowadays, among users consisting of vocational college students in Malaysia is still at a less than satisfactory level. Previous studies also focused a lot on the use and acceptance of technology platforms among users in schools only but not in vocational colleges (VC). The aim of the research is to determine the experts’ consensus on the objective of the digital pedagogy policy for Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) students especially in vocational colleges which is currently under development. Vocational colleges is one of the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) institutions in Malaysia that offers certificate level and skill diploma education to high school students. Therefore, it is important to identify the policy that will be used. The Fuzzy Delphi Technique (FDT) was used in this research. Ten experts were chosen by utilizing the purposive sampling method. Analysis of the data was using the Triangular Fuzzy Number and Defuzzification process. The findings showed 100% consensus was achieved by the experts for objectives 1 and 3, and 90% consensus was achieved by the experts for objective 2. All of the experts agreed on the elements in the objectives of the digital pedagogy policy for TVET students. Further development of this policy hopefully will help the teachers in improving their knowledge of digital pedagogy and increase their competency pedagogy in order to produce skills oriented workforce among TVET students in Malaysia. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to be used to strengthen the development of e-learning models in the future to help students and educators to use digital platforms in vocational colleges in particular.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42783280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teaching through a well-designed instructional procedure that stresses learners' involvement in skill practice is an alternative to cultivating skills. This study proposes a scientific procedure for implementing a vocational-based education curriculum in colleges of education by identifying key activities that lecturers and industrial technicians considered to be important for teaching undergraduate technical skills in Nigeria. There is no accepted framework for teachers to teach skills and evaluate their instruction. Efforts have been made to create such a prospective framework, but none has been put into use (Bannister et al. 2018) because they are poorly understood (Sarker, Vincent, and Darzi 2005). The study utilized the Delphi research strategy to gain consensus about the processes and activities involved in teaching skills. Then, employed the Four D Model (4-D model), which included the steps of Task identification, Material arrangement, Task execution, and Task evaluation, was developed in the research. We test a model of factors predicting the appropriate teaching model. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. The result revealed the differential effect of the variables considered. However, the activities in each stage were utilized to design the scientific procedure for teaching technical skills in colleges of education. Because learning skills that are shielded in hands-on activities rely upon teaching procedures and skill practice opportunities, we concluded that effectively utilizing this scientific framework in colleges would improve students’ practical skills acquisition and make them active in the learning process.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48284292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
