However, the employment rate among local fresh graduates remains low. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the demand-supply mismatch of the programmes offered by Malaysian Polytechnic Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) based on the perspectives of the employers, top management, lecturers, and students. This study adopted a semi-structured interview as the data collection method and utilised a purposive sampling method in approaching the respondents. This study conducted a thematic analysis using the ATLAS.ti 9 software. The findings of this study relating to the demand-supply mismatch can be classified into three, which are: i) the mismatch between industry demand and TVET programme supply; ii) the mismatch between student demand and TVET programme supply; and iii) the mismatch between institution readiness and TVET programme supply. Following these findings, this study proposed a realignment of the TVET programme by taking into consideration all stakeholders’ necessities. As a result, the demand-supply will be balanced, thus increasing the employability of the local graduates. It is beneficial for future research to employ an appropriate framework of alignment when examining TVET academic programmes, taking into account the needs of all stakeholders to guarantee that TVET programmes remain relevant.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43937581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is occurring since the talents or skills required by the sector differ from those accessible on the demand Hence, developing nations require practical VET systems and dual systems. Indonesia has recently attempted to examine the Dual Vocational Education and Training system in greater detail. This study investigates the challenges encountered by Indonesia throughout the implementation of its dual VET system and how they overcame them to ensure effective delivery. Notably, the primary goal of this literature study was to provide theoretically announced and policy-relevant understandings of the obstacles or challenges that every nation would encounter while establishing a dual system. This study combines empirical survey results from Germany and Switzerland to identify significant challenges and critical success criteria for the transfer. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) were used to guide the conduct of a systematic review. The results show that the direct transfer or implementing present multiple challenges and difficulties that comprise Challenges for The Public Sector and The Public-Private. On the other hand, for a successful transfer of VET tight cooperation between all stakeholders and a shared awareness and deeper knowledge of the contextual conditions in the target nation are paramount. Therefore, the question of whether the dual VET system in German or Switzerland can be directly implemented in another country, without first examining specific challenges and difficulties of each context, must be clearly and systematically considered.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48892354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding bioplastics is good to possess the young generation, especially facing Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). The subjects of this study were 40 students of class XI in vocational schools which were divided into two classes, namely the control and the experimental classes. Treatment given to experimental class was by providing learning with an experimental demonstration using learning videos, while control class learning was done using conventional teaching method. Learning outcomes of both classes were evaluated from the pre-test and post-test scores as well as the N-Gain value. The data analysis technique used was the analytical technique of descriptive data, including the mean and standard deviation. The analysis requirement test was carried out using a normality test. To test the hypothesis of differences in student learning outcomes, a non-parametric test was used. Based on descriptive analysis, learning outcomes with the experimental demonstration method are more effective than that with the conventional method. This result is evidenced by the experimental class's N-Gain value which is greater than those of the control class. The results were also confirmed by statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney non-parametric test, showing a significant difference in learning outcomes between the control and the experimental classes. In short, the results of the study showed an increase in achievement and significant student learning using the experimental demonstration method. The experimental demonstrations using available materials make students more interactive because students want to try the process by themselves. Using the experimental demonstration method, students are expected to be able to find, prepare, and carry out the learning process. Thus, students get good learning outcomes. This study is expected to have an impact on the further teaching of experimental demonstration research which is believed to provide good learning success for students.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48211017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many factors contribute to students' misconceptions, one of which is that the teaching strategy used is still teacher-centered. To address these issues, researchers attempted to apply Conceptual Change Model (CCM) learning to the static fluid concept. The research method used is pre-experiment with a Group Pretest-Posttest design. A pre-experimental study was conducted on one group of students (the experimental group) without a comparison group (the control group). The subjects of this study were 30 Vocational High School students in Bandung City. Identification of misconceptions using the Three-Tier Test (3T) technique. A formula adapted from the normalized gain calculation was used to calculate the decrease in the number of students with misconceptions. The 3T identification results showed a decrease in the number of students who have misconceptions about each static fluid concept with an average score of 0.79. It decreases the number of students who have misconceptions that are included in the high category. Applying the CCM learning to Vocational High School students can reduce the number of students who have misconceptions about the concept of static fluid. Misconceptions were decreased because CCM learning involved changing existing conceptions and discovering new concepts that could be understood and made sense. This demonstrates that CCM learning can be a viable alternative for remediating misconceptions.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47556792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Learning development problems and needs related to the preparation of vocational lecturers can produce skilled vocational lecturers. The research method used is a quantitative method through surveys by distributing questionnaires given to vocational lecturers at Polytechnics in West Java, Indonesia. The findings obtained are the level of understanding of lecturers about students’ background is 76%. 82% of lecturers have compiled a complete Lesson Plan, both for activities in the classroom and outside the classroom. Mastery of the application of learning materials, media, methods, and laboratory equipment for vocational lecturers is very high, above 83%. This is in line with the characteristics of vocational education which must prepare students or graduates to quickly adapt to the workplace environment. However, in the activity of quiz making through online media, it is classified as a moderate at 68%, whereas the online learning and evaluation methods are beneficial since these methods are quite effective. The ability of vocational lecturers in conducting pretests before learning activities has a low score at 76%. This finding indicates that there are many difficulties, one of the factors is not knowing the urgency of the assessment. The pedagogical competence of vocational lecturers has an important role in the success of learning, both in the classroom and during practice. The motivation of pre-service TVET graduates obtaining a postgraduate diploma in technical education was therefore investigated using the QUAN-QUAL approach to collect quantitative data via a researcher-created, self-administered questionnaire and qualitative data via written essays and narratives using the triangulation mixed method design. Participants were selected from two cohorts (N=78) of students enrolled in the various departments for the Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education (PGDTE) program of the University of Nigeria. According to the quantitative analysis, excellent role models from previous teachers, the demanding nature of the job role, a willingness to impart relevant knowledge and skills, a willingness to assist financially disadvantaged students in gaining marketable job skills, and the country's presumed demand for TVET teachers were the primary motivators for pre-service teachers. The qualitative analysis found seven (7) themes, three of which were motivational: desire to assist students and community/sharing expertise; personal dream/calling/passion to teach; and the desire to financially aid students who are incapacitated. However, the gender aspect revealed that male and female pre-service TVET teachers showed significant differences in their altruistic and intrinsic impulses. Following that, the two sets of data were compared and investigated. The ramifications of the findings were then examined, as well as their significance in enhancing hiring measures through setting of standards for tech-voc education programs to improve on the status of TVET teachers to attract quality graduates of technical education programs who can teach as TVET teachers before and after completing their programs.","PeriodicalId":43208,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technical Education and Training","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49599091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
