As such, the strength of the IJHE journal is reflected in this issue’s 11 research articles from Israel, China, Saudi Arabia, Africa, America and Thailand. This issue has a strong focus on student approaches to learning, language development and student athletes balance their learning and training schedules. Whilst societies and communities are challenged by global events, the IJHE provides an important platform for the development of theory, the addressing of policy questions, and the dissemination of innovative practice in the field of tertiary education, specifically widening participation and lifelong learning.","PeriodicalId":43112,"journal":{"name":"Learning and Teaching-The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135998964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, many undergraduate instructors utilize some form of math skills assessment as a review for students or for students to identify weak areas in their mathematics preparation. Such evaluations may provide instructors and students with an early indication of the student's chances for success in a course and if additional assistance is required. This study illustrated the efficacy and importance of a standardized math assessment developed and administered as a university-wide mathematics placement test in student success prediction from several modeling approaches.","PeriodicalId":43112,"journal":{"name":"Learning and Teaching-The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences","volume":"56 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72499095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Five key components of ethical leadership for the school administrators are trust, responsibility, respect, citizenship, and fairness. The current conditions were found to be at high levels overall, whereas the desirable condition and needs for development were at the highest level, with the needs priorities listed as follows: (1) fairness, (2) citizenship, (3) responsibility, (4) respect and (5) trust, respectively. The developed model was determined, assessed, and affirmed by seven experts fully qualified in the field as the most suitable, feasible and useful.","PeriodicalId":43112,"journal":{"name":"Learning and Teaching-The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91244704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vi mer seniora akademiker har ett medmänskligt ansvar att etablera strukturer som tar hand om våra kollegor. Omtanke om våra doktoranders utveckling behövs då vi designar strukturer för doktorerande så väl som handledande. I denna artikel argumenterar jag för att omtanken om doktorandens utveckling bör vara en utgångspunkt i handledningsarbetet. Med hjälp av omtanke blir det enklare att: hitta rätt nivå för krav och mål, erkänna brister i handledarskapet, prata problem i satta maktrelationer, hantera utmaningar från den våldsamma akademin, med mera. Att bry sig om doktorandens utveckling innebär många olika saker under resans gång. Även om det i artikeln konkretiseras vad omtanke om doktorandens utveckling kan innebära, så är poängen snarare att det blir enklare att inse vad god handledning är, ifall omtanken om doktorandens väl är en utgångpunkt i handledningsarbetet.","PeriodicalId":43112,"journal":{"name":"Learning and Teaching-The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90415748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study applied a quasi-experimental design, and the participants were 60 Chinese college students. The experimental class consisted of 30 students, who were subjected to active learning methods for 8 weeks, totaling 32 class hours, and the control class without intervention consisted of the other 30 students. The Problem Solving Inventory was applied to the pre- and post-tests. The result showed that problem-solving ability of college students majoring in physical education was significantly improved in the experimental class after the treatment.","PeriodicalId":43112,"journal":{"name":"Learning and Teaching-The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85497021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 In this paper I reflect on the use of the futures cone and an expanded futures cone (which draws on queer theory) as a tool for dialogue and planning between the supervisor and the doctoral student. I do so by situating the use of this tool in relation to three supervision typologies;the product-orientated, process-orientated and the doctoral student-orientated approaches.
