The composites are characterized using limiting oxygen index (LOI), horizontal (UL 94 HB) and vertical (UL-94 V) burning tests, mass loss calorimeter and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The addition of colemanite causes enhanced fire retardant performance with higher UL-94 V rating and LOI value and lower pHRR value. V0 rating and the highest LOI value is observed with the addition 1 wt % colemanite. When the concentration of colemanite reaches to 3 and 5 wt %, the samples get V1 rating. When the concentration of colemanite reaches to 5 wt %, pHRR and avHRR values are lower than those of the reference sample. The addition of boron oxide caused only improvement in LOI value. Diğer üç gruba üç hafta boyunca oral olarak gavaj ile 3mg/kg borik asit (BA), kalsiyum fruktoborat(CaFB) ve potasyum bor sitrat(KBCi) verilmiştir. Hayvanların serum ve kemik dokularında TNF-α, IL1-β, total oksidan seviyesi(TOS), total antioksidan seviyesi(TAS), osteopontin ve osteokalsin düzeyleri ELIZA yöntemi ile ölçülmüştür. \u0000Çalışma sonuçlarında kontrol grubu ve bor çeşitlerinin uygulandığı gruplar arasında serum ve kemik dokuda TNF-α ve IL-1β düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık gözlemlenmemiştir(p>0.05). ZnO:B tozlarının sentezinde bor ağırlıkça %5, %10, %15 ve %20 oranlarında katkılanmıştır. Üretilen ZnO:B yapıların fiziksel karakterizasyonu X-ışını kırınımı (XRD) ve taramalı elektron mikroskopu (SEM) ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarından ZnO:B parçacıkların hekzagonal würtzide yapıda kristalleştiğini ve morfolojik yapılarının hekzagonal çubuk şeklinde olduğu gözlenmiştir. ZnO:B elektrotlar; %10 poli tetra florin etilen (PTFE), %20 iletken grafit ile %70 ZnO:B tozları karıştırılarak Ni köpük üzerine 1 cm2’ lik alan oluşturacak şekilde hazırlanmıştır. ZnO:B elektrotların kapasitans ölçümleri döngüsel voltametrisi (CV) yöntemi ile yapılmıştır. Ölçümler oda sıcaklığında gerçekleştirilip, elektrolit sıvısı olarak 6M KOH çözeltisi kullanılmıştır. Farklı bor oranlarında hazırlanan ZnO:B elektrotların elektrokimyasal özellikleri araştırılmıştır. Üretilen ZnO:B elektrotlarında bor konsantrasyonu arttıkça kapasitans değerlerinin sistematik bir şekilde arttığı gözlemlenmiştir. Arresting this damage can pose a challenge, especially internal decay. Boron plays an important role in helping arrest fungal attack in a variety of applications. This paper discusses the use of borates as a component in pastes for limiting external decay and the use of boron solutions or rods for arresting internal decay. Long-term field trials show that boron movement is initially slow, but boron was found in Douglas-fir poles almost 30 years after application. The synthesis of high-temperature ceramic powders is examined through milling durations, reduction temperatures, and excess magnesium addition. Thermochemical analysis of probable reaction products was conducted by the Factsage software. According to the results, the thermochemical predictions and resultant powder phases showed good coherency. High-energy milling has a significant effect on the formation of the zirconium boride phase after annealing. However, extended milling time and higher annealing temperature have no significant effects on the composition of the constituted composite powders according to the X-ray diffraction results. An annealing temperature of 600 ºC was enough to obtain ZrB2-based ceramic composite powders. In the final powder phases, the excess magnesium addition to the stoichiometric displays an important feature. After the milling, annealing, and leaching procedure, the stoichiometric powder composition comprises ZrB2, ZrSi, ZrSi2, ZrO2, and MgSiO2, and excess Mg added powders have the ZrB2, ZrSi, ZrSi2, ZrO2 phases in their structure. For this aim, different receipts were designed from boron waste (borogypsum) belonging to Emet Boric Acid factory (Kütahya/Turkey) and silica fume, which was taken from Electrometallurgy facilities (Antalya/Turkey). Mixtures were prepared so that the amount of waste material used in the composition was 90%, and the remaining 10% was binder clay. The samples were prepared with different proportions of both wastes were pressed uniaxially at 10 MPa, and the shaped samples were then fired at 1000, 1050, 1100, and 1150 °C. Physical and mechanical tests, as well as mineralogical and microstructural analyses, were carried out on the fired samples. The technical properties of the samples derived from the wastes were evaluated depending on the type of waste material and its usage amounts, and firing temperatures. It has been understood that the use of high Borogypsum will cause high firing loss, which will negatively affect the dimensional stability of the material. Moreover, with silica fume addition to borogypsum, the water absorption and porosity values increased, and the strength values decreased accordingly. B2O3 içeriğinin artmasıyla PET kompozitin viskozitesi azalmış ve en düşük viskozite değeri %0,8 B2O3 konsantrasyonu için 0,385 dL/g olarak ölçülmüştür. PET kompozitlerin kristalleşme sıcaklığı (Tc), B2O3 miktarının artışına bağlı olarak yaklaşık 8,2ºC yükselmiştir. However, soil boron deficiency is a common nutrient problem for hazelnut growth. In this study, the effect of boron fertilizations of foliar and soil was investigated on the quality of hazelnuts (Corylus avellana L.) in two provinces in Turkey between 2013 and 2014. The experimental trials were carried out in soil application (0.0, 3.0 and 6.0 g per Ocak) and foliar spraying (0 and 300 mg B L-1). Results show that compared with the control, soil and foliar application of boron increased hazelnut yield and quality. Due to the two-year average, the highest yield of the hazelnut in Samsun-Çarşamba was obtained from the application and dose of S1. A 36.70% increase in hazelnut yield was achieved by applying B (3g Ocak-1) from the soil in comparison with the control application. It was a 20 % increase in Ordu-Ulubey district. The highest kernel ratio of hazelnut was obtained from F1S2 applications for the two districts. Increases were observed at Samsun-Çarşamba (10%) and Ordu-ulubey (7%). Results showed that there was also a positive association between the B leaf concentration and hazelnut yield and kernel ratio and no significant differences between foliar and soil applications on hazelnut quality. As a result of this study, and with increasing yield, foliar applications of B are an effective method of supplying sufficient B for the flowers. Especially in species with low salinity and drought tolerance, salt stress may cause physiological and molecular changes such as plant growth and development, increase in secondary metabolite content in response to stress, and somaclonal variation. In this context, three different concentrations of boric acid, sodium perborate, sodium metaborate and disodium octaborate salts were applied to meristems isolated from in vitro clonal propagated L. orientalis and the effects of these boron salts on meristem regeneration and development were evaluated. When compared to the control group samples in which no salt application was applied, the best regeneration percentage was determined as 1mgL-1 disodium octaborate treatment with a value of 100%, while when the shoot forming capacity index was evaluated, 5mgL-1 sodium perborate treatment with a value of 4.94 gave the best results. Karaciğer hastalıkları ve sonrasında gelişebilecek karaciğer yetersizliği insanlar için çok kritik bir klinik sorundur. Son yıllarda karaciğer hasarının kemoterapotiklerin, antiviral ilaçların ve bitkisel destekleyici ürün kullanımının artışı ile beraber insidansının arttığı görülmektedir. Bu nedenle günümüzde karaciğer hasarının tedavi edilebilmesi artık daha öncelikli olarak düşünülmektedir. NAPQI'nın hücre içi proteinlere, özellikle mitokondriyal proteinlere kovalent bağlanması, mitokondriyal oksidatif stresi ve nihayetinde hepatosit nekrozunu tetiklediği bilinmektedir. Bor içeren bileşiklerin antibakteriyel, antiviral, antioksidatif ve antiinflamatuvar özelliklerine sahip olduğu daha önceki çalışmalarda gösterilmiştir. Bor ve türevlerinin HIV, obezite, diabet ve kanser gibi hastalıkların tedavisinde faydaları bilinmektedir. Bu özellikleriyle antioksidan mekanizma üzerinden hepatosit nekrozu için umut vaat etmekte ve araştırılması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, boronik asit türevi olan 4-hidroksifenilboronik asidin (4-OHFBA) APAP ile indüklenmiş karaciğer hasarındaki etkinliğinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre 4-OHFBA tedavisi ile yüksek AST ve ALT seviyelerinin düştüğü gözlemlenmiştir.
