Boric acid molecule and boric acid solution, composing of salicylic acid-boric acid-ethanol mixture, were experimentally characterized using FT-IR and 1 H NMR chemical shift spectra . The solution proved to be applicable in the field of healthcare with its antifungal property, purity, and based on the spectroscopic results. In order to meet this growing need and demand for fabrication of environmentally friendly products, epoxy matrix composites containing 60wt% of boron wastes was developed. The influence of boron waste addition and the particle size of boron waste on epoxy matrix composites on physico-mechanical and tribological properties were evaluated. It was found that, hardness, flexural modulus and wear resistance properties were increased with the incorporation of boron wastes. Wear resistance increased with increasing boron waste particle size. The lowest specific wear rate was achieved for the largest particle size added composites. Bozan","doi":"10.30728/BORON.376517","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30728/BORON.376517","url":null,"abstract":"This study was conducted to evaluate the suitability of using hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) as reinforcement in natural fibres obtained from hazelnut shell (F) and poppy straw (H). Raw materials were treated with alkali to enrich the cellulose content by removing lignin and hemicellulose. The nanobiocomposite synthesis was performed with 4% and 8% of hBN. Lignin, cellulose and hemicelluloses contents of biomass were determined. Cellulose content was almost increased 3-fold and 2-fold after pretreatment of hazelnut shell (FCell) and poppy straw (HCell), respectively. Strong bands at 812 and 1380cm-1 corresponding to hBN were observed in the FTIR. SEM images showed that hBN is retained on the pretreated natural fibres. Adsorbed hBN on the structure was highest in the microcrystalline cellulose (Cell) (91.5%), followed by FCell (80.5%) and HCell (50.5%). Since ulexite ore was dissolved in a phosphoric acid solution, the final solution included boric acid (H 3 BO 3 ), sodium dihydrogen phosphate [NaH 2 PO 4 ], and calcium dihydrogen phosphate [Ca(H 2 PO 4 ) 2 ] . The presence of several ions in the solution causes separation problems for boric acid. This study includes a special separation step to increase the purity of the boric acid that is synthesized from the dissolution of ulexite ore in phosphoric acid. For this purpose, c alcium ions in the final solution were removed using Dowex HCR-S cationic ion exchange resin. Additionally, the Taguchi optimization method was employed to monitor the removal of calcium ions . The design of experiments included an orthogonal array technique in L 9 array for three parameters with three different values; reaction temperature (12 o C, 25 o C, 40 o C), stirring rate (250 rpm, 300 rpm, 350 rpm), and the amount of resin material (10% wt., 30% wt., 50% wt.). The results of the calculations revealed that the optimum values of temperature, stirring rate, and amount of resin are 12 o C, 350 rpm, and 50% wt., respectively. Farkli a ktivatorlerin katki oranlarina gore, kristal yapi ve bilesiklerin sonum sureleri incelendiginde, her bir aktivatorun, farkli katki oranlarinin isima ve sonum surelerini etkiledigi ortaya konmustur. Her bir bilesik icin optimum oranlar belirlenmistir.
