Hypertensive disorders remains leading cause of direct maternal and fetal mortality. Coagulation profile study in pregnancy induced hypertension helps inearly diagnosis of pregnancy induced hypertension and assessing the severity of pregnancy induced hypertension at earlier stage and help to prevent severe complications like disseminated intravascular coagulation and HELLP syndrome. To estimate platelet count, prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time in pregnancy induced hypertension. To estimate above parameters in normal pregnancy. To compare above parameters between normotensive women and women with pregnancy induced hypertension. Material and Method: 100 newly diagnosed patients of pregnancy induced hypertension and 100 normal healthy controls were included in the study. After taking consent, their blood samples were collected. These samples were transported to the laboratory and processed without delay for prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time and platelet count. The results of these parameters were noted, compared and analysed statistically. Result:In our study, we observe that pregnancy induced hypertension is common in primipara. There was a statistically significant difference between study group and control group for all three parameters(p<0.001). Comparison between each study group and control group showed significant difference (p<0.05) between prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time . Prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time showed significant increase value when compared to normal group although the mean value are normal or near normal in range. Conclusions: It can be concluded from this study that the pregnancy induced hypertension causes a significantchanges in haematological parameters. Result: In present study, there was no significant difference in cord blood TSH level when compared for various mode of delivery of newborn, as well as according to birth weight and gender of newborn. There was a statistically significant higher mean cord blood TSH level in newborns whose mother had a history of pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). Material and Methods: This is a retrospective observational study conducted between June 2021 and July 2022at SVPIMSR, Ahmedabad. 78 pregnant women based on WHO near-miss criteria were included.Details were recorded by studying the case sheets of the patients and asking relevant focused questions to the patients themselves or their relatives regarding the patient’s condition at the time of admission.Detailed history, clinical examination, treatment given, causes of referral in case the patient was referred from outside were noted. Results: In this study, Obstetric Haemorrhage (69.2%) and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (30.7%) were the leading causes of MNM cases. Majority of the women(56.4%) belonged to the age group of 18-25 years, were multiparous (83.3%). 74.4% cases were emergency cases and 66.7% were referred cases. The maternal near-miss to maternal death ratio in our study is 8.9:1. 66.5% cases were referred due to various causes like lack of HDU facility, blood and blood products, NICU facilities etc from the peripheral centres. 18 near-miss cases (23.1%) were identified to have a delay; maximum was level 1 delay(12.8%). 31.5% of MNM cases required blood and blood product transfusion. 25% were admitted to the intensive care unit.Conclusion: Timely recognition, prompt treatment of MNM cases with availability of essential services like blood banks and obstetric ICUs at the primary level of treatment can help in preventing adverse outcomes. Reviewing near miss cases gives significant information about the three delays in health seeking so that appropriate action is taken. Delay in referral to tertiary care centres can be avoided by proper education to identify warning signs and symptoms and training to give primary treatment amongst primary care doctors. \u0000Keywords: - Maternal Near Miss (MNM), Pregnancy, Obstetric Haemorrhage, Hypertensive disorder of pregnancy, Tertiary care","PeriodicalId":430295,"journal":{"name":"BJKines National Journal of Basic & Applied Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130471336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Women in the gestational period have a higher risk of presenting with iron-deficiency anaemia. The anaemia may occur due to inadequate intake of dietary iron, greater foetal demand and haemodilution, a physiological anaemia common in pregnant women in which changes in the maternal organism, such as changes in blood volume and factors associated with haemostasis, decrease haemoglobin concentration. The aim of study is to utilize Ret-He as a marker of bioavailability of iron in pregnant female. Material and Methods: This was a retrospective and prospective study carried out for a duration of 1 years and included total of 75 cases referred to Pathology Department, M. P. Shah Govt. Medical College and Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, Jamnagar- Gujarat. Clinical history, RET-He and other important parameters as well as findings of all the concerned pregnant females were collected. Results:Age of pregnant females varied from 19 years to 42 years. Mean age being 25.2 years. The reference ranges of RET-Hewas between 32.1 and 38.8 pg with a median of 34.17 pg. Hb and/or ferritin level were low in 3 pregnant women in 1st trimester with anaemia, 7 in 2nd and in 16 patients in 3rd trimester.
