It cannot be expected for a uniform education that is stuck in certain patterns to meet the needs of the current age. In the recent years, the process of education has acquired a new format under the name flipped education with the influence of global factors and technological advancements. Flipped education has affected all its partakers and cause them to make changes. The aim of this study is to analyze the perception of classroom teachers, who are one of the most important partakers of education, of flipped learning in terms of various variables. With this purpose, a study group consisting of 306 classroom teachers who worked in primary schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education in the 2021- 2022 academic year were selected through the maximum variation sampling method. The data of the study were collected through the Flipped Learning Perception Scale developed by Erensayın (2019) which consists of four sub-dimensions as, teacher self-efficacy, technological competence, pedagogical competence, and technological-pedagogical competence. According to the results of the study, it was determined that there is a significant difference in favor of mostly male teachers in terms of gender; there is a significant difference in favor of teachers who have received flipped learning training in terms of training on flipped learning and that there is a significant difference between the teachers with the most seniority and teachers with medium level seniority in terms of professional seniority. No difference was found in terms of the grade level the teachers taught.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135619716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Augmented reality and virtual reality offer numerous potential application. As the social metaverse becomes more accessible, it is crucial to incorporate additional valuable components. Some experts argue that the use of technology is least essential in the context of physical education. However, challenge persist in the field of physical education. The integration of physical education into metaverse is gaining popularity, as it address the pressing need to overcome the limitations imposed by the lack of physical venues. The evolution of the feasibility of metaverse technologies and their application in sports relies on the utilization of technology definitions and examples. To address the conceptual nature of this essay, an interpretivist research approach has been adopted. This approach emphasizes the analysis of literature rather than data gathering. Additionally, the study incorporates network research and fieldwork to gather educational experiences and metaverse knowledge. This paper delves into the concept of Metaverse integration and explores its potential impact. The metaverse, which is a virtual reality space, has the potential to provide students with an immersive learning experience that enhances their physical education. By incorporating virtual environments, students can simulate real-life situations and learn in a way that mirrors the real world. This paper underscores those significance of metaverse technology in the context to physical education.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135619721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this qualitative study, the core of 100 high school students’ experiences of math was examined with a holistic approach using Online Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (OIPA). In order to obtain in-depth information about the concept of math from the participants, the purposeful sampling method was used. It was paid full attention to ensure that the participants were high school students. The data were obtained by using the OIPA form, which allows students to create stories and drawings about the concept of math. The data obtained were analyzed in three stages by the researcher and an expert psychologist. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that there were deficiencies in students’ mathematical literacy in situations such as understanding the role of mathematics in daily life and using it to solve real life problems. Additionally, the students expressed the concept of math using 18 different main themes, most of which contained negative strong emotions. Students associated math most frequently with the themes of life (44%) and difficult math language (38%). The students associated math least frequently with the themes of hate (5%) and unimportant (5%). On the other hand, students explained the math domain with individual factors (74%) the most and exosystem (15%) the least. In line with the results obtained in the study, a few recommendations were made.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"15 21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135619718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each language skill is complementary to the other in nature. As one of these skills, writing is based on narration. Through writing studies, the level of progression of the listening, speaking, and reading skills of the students can be objectively monitored. Therefore, writing studies should be emphasized as much as other language skills. This study aims to conduct a literature review about the outcomes of writing proficiency. In this qualitative study, the relevant parts of the literature were reviewed, and B2 level writing skill outcomes were compiled. The writing skill outcomes obtained as the result of the literature review were categorized and were classified as “the national level writing skill outcomes list for B2 level”, “the international level writing skill outcomes list for B2 level,” and “the writing outcomes, reduced to 11 items as the result of the literature review” after obtaining the relevant expert opinion. At the final stage of the study, the outcomes were submitted to the review of 3 experts in the field by using the “Writing Outcomes Compliance Assessment Form.” After the feedback was received from the experts, a total of eight writing skill outcomes for B2 level, indicated in List 4, were generated. The obtained outcomes were submitted to the literature to contribute to the field.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135314326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research is a descriptive study carried out following the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. The study group consisted of 85 prospective teachers in their final year of the undergraduate programme in primary education at a state and foundation university in Turkey. The data were obtained through questions prepared by the prospective teachers through question preparation forms on Turkish and mathematics courses. These data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The study concluded that the majority of questions prepared by prospective primary teachers in both courses were in the lower levels of the cognitive process dimension of revised Bloom’s Taxonomy (remember, understand and apply). It was found that the questions in the Turkish language course were mostly prepared in the remember and understand dimensions and in the mathematics course were mostly prepared in the apply and understand dimensions. In light of these results, it can be suggested that the preparation of high-level questions in terms of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy should be included more in undergraduate education.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135314331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper reports on a qualitative inquiry into the SFL profiles of a group of Turkish undergraduate students in an English writing classroom and the effects of a four-week online peer feedback activity on the students’ perceived SFL features. The study utilized multiple data sources consisting of pre- and post-task surveys, which were filled by the whole subject group; the feedback comments and interactional moves of four focal students on Peergrade, a digital platform enabling peer feedback; the essay drafts of these focal students and the drafts reviewed by them; and lastly the researcher’s notes from a discussion session with the students during the activity. The results revealed that each focal student distinctly demonstrated discrete SFL features at varying levels. The findings also showed that the peer feedback activity did not produce considerable improvement in the students’ feedback literacy in L2 writing, yet changes were detected in student reports with respect to the perceived SFL features of making judgments, managing affect and taking action. The study extends our limited knowledge of SFL profiles of L2 writing learners in a Turkish context and informs the ongoing discussion on the efficacy of peer feedback in SFL development.","PeriodicalId":429306,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Literacy Studies","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135314508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
