These houses are sometimes replicated or reproduced to demonstratethe past in traditional lifestyles of Tai Dam people. Various houses and granaries have been developed after theperiod of the tortoise-shape houses and still exist in Tai Dam communities. These Tai Dam’s houses integratedtraditional Tai Dam’s culture with Thai’s influence. At present, these houses with cultural significance areneglected or dismantled. The purpose of this research is to study the Tai Dam’s houses, which have beenevolved from tortoise-shape houses, with plural ethnic identity. The results of the research are useful for betterunderstanding of the dynamic nature of vernacular architecture. The study areas are in Sra-Yai-Som Tambonand vicinities in U-thong District, Suphanburi Province. Research methods include review of vernacular studiesand in-depth surveys. The finding reveals that building form and architectural elements have been developedinto 4 groups during the period of assimilation: 1) Tortoise-shaped houses with short cantilevered roof; 2) Gableroofhouse with traditional bamboo construction; 3) Gable-roof house with timber construction; and 4) Hip-roof(Panya style) house with timber construction. Architectural elements with minimum alteration are cruck-framecolumns and long cantilevered beams.","PeriodicalId":428713,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Architectural/Planning Research and Studies (JARS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121044421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of thisresearch is to increase an appropriate amount of natural-light for the mentioned room, mindful of recommendationsof Illuminating Engineering Association of Thailand (TIEA), as well as to reduce electric energy consumptionof artificial lighting throughout the day. Notably, the construction drawings of this room have been analyzed inorder to identify the characteristics and to determine developing guidelines for the most suitable improvingconditions, bearing in mild the main building structure should not be affected – 3D model of the roomrepresented in DIALux lighting simulation software. The result shows that the modification of four maincomponents together including ceiling, interior partitions, voids and adding horizontal light pipe system maywell stimulate possible improvements. The recommended average annual illuminance referred to TIEA is lowerthan 750 LUX. This modification could increase illuminance up to 70.02% and the light-quality is better thanการปรับปรุงคุณภาพแสงธรรมชาติของห้องปฏิบัติการสถาปัตยกรรมในคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ ผังเมือง และนฤมิตศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคามEnhance Daylighting Quality of Architecture Studio in Faculty of Architecture,Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham Universityบริรักษ์ อินทรกุลไชยBorirak Intarakulchaiคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ ผังเมือง และนฤมิตศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม จังหวัดมหาสารคาม 44150Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University, Maha Sarakham, 44150, ThailandE-mail: boririntara@hotmail.com46 JARS 10(2). 2013other guidelines. This responsive environment system was developed by using a complementarycombination of 1) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology embedded in Braille Block and 2) along cane RFID-reader integrated with electronic compassion. The RFID tags store information of a braillepattern and give it to the reader to demonstrate information by sounds. There are 2 types of the informationdemonstrated: 1) the information that is automatically responsive with the location of hazards or obstacles2) the information that responds when the user pushes the button for asking the system to identify a physicalcondition of the environment, direction and destination. The results showed that the system increasedefficiency of spatial perception and accessibility for the visually impaired. The process of design embodies dialectics between generation of form andresearch. How strategic design research is cooperative into design processes to achieve the design solutionhas been barely examined in a broad range of the architectural-design practices. The study thus explores acomparative analysis of the design processes in different design practice between third-year architecture students,fifth-year architecture students, and architects, to examine various forms of design research taking place infinding and solving problems.Findings reveal that design research lies in investigative modes and processing of external knowledgerelevant to problems, thereby enabling for a decisive solution. Research cooperates with the design process aslearning tensions between problems and solutions. However, the problem-solution pairing and research takingplace do not promise the successful solution. The acceptable design unfolds continuous improvement betweena series of problems-solutions through which research induces the co-development of problems-solutionsframework from an abstract idea to concrete levels of design development in three situations: “understandingcriteria and formulating goals,” “exploring possibility,” and “examining reality.” Moreover, practitioners mostly drawupon more design visions to direct problem-framing, research, and working methods to meet design goals thannovice students operate research into the process of design.To effectively implement research into the design process, a designer could consider design activity asa critical learning process as the co-development of problems-solutions framework to operate design strategiesand thinking. This mode of design thinking will allow design research roles to collaborate with problem-framingand design methods into the design process.","PeriodicalId":428713,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Architectural/Planning Research and Studies (JARS)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131427015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As for economics and social aspects,it revealed that there were sufficient supporting market for farm products, but the problems was high productioncost and low production price. However, the agriculturists want to conserve their agricultural lands, but they didnot have younger generations to do farming. To conserve the farm lands sustainably, it consisted of the landuse control for conservation of agricultural lands, tax measures, investment funds or cooperative, producttransformed promotion, the development of central markets for agricultural products, the implantation ofland-use awareness to the people and younger generations, the knowledge and information dissimilation tothe agriculturists and agricultural grouping.","PeriodicalId":428713,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Architectural/Planning Research and Studies (JARS)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115669987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the multi-stage projectdevelopment process as another key factor that underlies the construction industry’s poor performance isaddressed. Knowledge management is then proposed as another key solution to achieve the more effectiveproject development in Thailand context. Based on Nonaka and Takeuchi’s 1995 knowledge conversion model,representatives from key project members’ organisations that developed recently complete large commercialresidential projects in Bangkok central business area were asked in semi-structured interviews aboutorganisational knowledge management process using a set of standardised questions. The outcomes show themoderate efficiency due to key project members’ unawareness of knowledge potentials.
