We argue that the concept entrepreneurial mindset plays a key role in understanding how blending conflicting logics management activities of social entrepreneurs occurs. This paper aims to identify the role of particular entrepreneurial mindset attributes in enabling social entrepreneurs to successfully act simultaneously in social and market contexts. Through pursuing interpretative phenomenological research with seven social entrepreneurs from five different countries, we have identified three different schemes of blending social and commercial logics. Our findings have also identified the intensity of particular EM attributes among the three groups of entrepreneurs. The main contribution of this paper in bringing together two entrepreneurship streams of research to advance our understanding on how social entrepreneurs blend competing institutional logics.","PeriodicalId":42848,"journal":{"name":"Problemy Zarzadzania-Management Issues","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2018-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45935014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Entrepreneurial\u0000Orientation assumes that some enterprises, regardless of size, behave in an entrepreneurial way and\u0000are proactive, innovative and willing to take risks. The relationships between Entrepreneurial Orientation\u0000and the results of enterprises are also subject to research, although its results are not clear – mainly\u0000due to the different measures used. The author situates the social entrepreneurship phenomenon here, and embarks on the traditional structure vs agency debate from social sciences, sociology of organizations in particular. The concept of embedded agency is referred to and employed to explain the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship. In this paper, the author provides key arguments concerning how the institutional theory framework can be useful in the field of social entrepreneurship research and practice. The author also discusses how the embedded agency concept is more pronounced in the social entrepreneurship context.","PeriodicalId":42848,"journal":{"name":"Problemy Zarzadzania-Management Issues","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2018-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44644101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It explores how HRM is practiced by very small business entrepreneurs. The central question underlying this research is what HRM practices help initiate and sustain entrepreneurship. Three questions are examined including the extent to which 17 HRM practices are outsourced or performed internally. How these entrepreneurs obtain their knowledge of HRM is also explored. Finally, the percentage of time entrepreneurs invest in HRM activities is addressed. It was found that very small business entrepreneurs perform most HRM activities in-house. They are self-taught in HRM-related matters and spend approximately 15% of their time engaged in human resource activities. Implications for how HRM can contribute to the success of entrepreneurial firms are discussed.","PeriodicalId":42848,"journal":{"name":"Problemy Zarzadzania-Management Issues","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2018-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48284545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
