The integration of instability trajectory is used as a criterion for determining the degree of transient instability. The transient stability constraints are first converted into equivalents, and then incorporated into the optimal power flow equation set. The difficulties in computing the resultant Jacobian and Hessian matrices have been overcome. The proposed algorithm was fully validated on the WSCC 9-bus test system.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. However the method is based on the Fourier transform, which can just precisely analyze the signals whose cycle is integer times as broad as that of fundamental wave. With sampling windows widening, the variations of distorted signals in a fundamental period are weakened. Moreover, the higher harmonic order is, the lower distinguish ability, and, as a result, the assessment accuracy becomes bad. Considered its prominent localization both in time-domain and in frequency-domain, wavelet is used to the field of assessing harmonic impedance for the first time.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. In Japan, we are facing urgent issues about how to design the structures of power market. In order to cope with the issue, many studies have been made with market models. However, there are many kinds of modeling methods, and no particular method has been established so far. Each has drawbacks and advantages about validity and versatility. This paper presents the method to use a multi-agent model, which learns a bidding strategy autonomously through trial-and-error search action, as useful tools of numerical analysis of the price formation process of an electric power market. The model enables us to analyze more general electricity markets, which have several different types of power plants with unit commitment costs, seasonal and hourly demand fluctuation, real-time regulation market and operating reserve market. This model figures out the issues that may be appeared when we will design markets and the way of designing operating reserve market.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. This paper presents the development of a stability constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) based transient stability pricing method. For the first time, this paper introduces an index, which is the limit of stability constraints in SCOPF problems, for transient stability pricing. Experiments conducted for two IEEJ model systems, a 10-generator system and a 30-generator system, reveal some interesting impacts of the transient stability constraint on real power prices.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. A further complication is that different candidate contingencies may motivate different re-dispatch strategies because the advanced generator group is different in each case, or the sensitivity of the stability margin to power exchanges between generators is different. Different allocations of spinning reserve are expected to create different impacts on the reliability of the physical power system. When transmission failures occur in a physical power system, the system constraints may be violated and spinning reserve may not be immediately committed to the system to serve the customers. This paper investigates the impact of transmission system failures on spinning reserve allocation. A technique is proposed to determine the locations of spinning reserve based on the minimum unit commitment risk.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. Currently system operators are available of no well-designed tool and do decisions according their intuition or experience that doesn't meet market requirement too. But research work is seldom about it and market operation of system security is limited to ancillary service. Combining with the research on China power market trends and based on risk, the paper will specially discuss transient security assessment, decision making on security. Firstly, based on risk assessment theory, it will mainly analyze a new transient security index and give out detailed assessment progress. The index consist transient insecurity probability and outcome to obtain balance between technology and economy. Based on conditional probability theory, it deduces the probability in response to probability distribution of system operation condition and fault in some system operation condition. Facility Method is introduced to evaluate the risk assessment. Secondly, risk decision theory about dynamic security is put forward. An utility function decision process-a stochastic optimization method is formulated to compute the optimal initial operation state. Aiming at the deficient current decision level of system operator in Jiangsu Province electrical company, the decision-making strategy well balanced technical security and economy.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. In the paper, firstly present the compensating principle of the three-phase series active power filter. Through analyzing the system, we get the differential equations of the SAPF and set up the transfer function and the block diagram of the exiting open loop control strategy for VSIs. Then, discuss the basic principle of biological immune system. For improving the controlling result of the SAPF, we propose a nonlinear selftuning immune feedback controller. The new nonlinear immune controller is designed by combining the immune feedback mechanism with the conventional PID control. Finally, simulate the close loop SAPF system with the new immune feedback control strategy. Computer simulation results show that the proposed selftuning immune feedback control strategy in SAPF is effective in compensating the voltage disturbance and in tracking a normal sinusoidal reference signal.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies.
