System 1 is a heuristic thinking system that involves intuitive and non-reflective thinking, prior knowledge and beliefs of decision maker. System 2 is an analytic thinking system that requires conscious effort and thought, numerical and logical reasoning. This study aims to investigate how marketing students solve problems with dual process thinking. Traditional Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT) contains three-item for measuring the tendency to override System 1 thinking and to engage in reflective System 2 thinking. While the traditional CRT is confounded with numeracy, which is not applicable to the field of marketing, this study employed traditional CRT with three additional marketing related measurement items to collect data from students who major in marketing for analysis. The analytical results showed that it is necessary to motivate and encourage marketing students to use System 2 thinking to learn different marketing concepts that are highly interrelated with one another and to complete tasks that require higher-order thinking skill. This paper also provides a useful reference for educators to design course assignments that aim to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills of students.?","PeriodicalId":426560,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Empirical Research","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121443606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study responds to criticism of Aaker (1997)?s brand personality measure that embraces other aspects besides personality, we applied the pure definition of personality and developed a brand personality scale in Vietnamese context that consists only personality items. Vietnamese (n=2465) participated in a study with sixteen brands in three different consumption situations. The results show the Vietnamese brand personality scale have the affinity with the Big-Five human personality dimensions (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness). The study covered the periods between 1981 and 2013. An Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (EGARCH) was specified and estimated using the maximum likelihood technique. The result reveals that foreign private portfolio investment volatility explains foreign private portfolio investment return. The result also revealed that good news has positive effect on foreign private portfolio returns while Momentum of risk in the system had profound effect on volatility. The EGARCH model significantly captures thick tailed returns and volatility clustering. News about volatility from previous period had no significant effect on current volatility. The persistence of volatility shocks were close to unity so that the shocks die out rather slowly. These outcomes suggest that investment selection should consider investment based on the dominance principle; negatively signed leverage term; lower momentum of risk; lesser shocks and innovation; less persistent volatility shock; and reasonable capacity to accommodate effects of ?non ? trading periods?, and accumulate predictable information releases or forecastable events at a higher rate?.?","PeriodicalId":426560,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Empirical Research","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128313910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hofstede's culture dimensions have been used as a measure of culture, RobecoSAM sustainability measure is used as a proxy for governance, social and environmental sustainability reporting. The results reveal the countries that are characterized by high power distance, masculinity, low individualism and long-term orientation are supposed to be less interested in sustainability reporting. To increase the sustainability reporting, it is essential for the government and decision-makers to give more focus to the culture as an important driver of sustainability.","PeriodicalId":426560,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Empirical Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125930120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this study is another effort to assess the role of behavioral biases in financial decision making in Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).A survey questionnaire is designed and used to collect responses using convenience sampling technique from sample of 250 investors of PSX. Behavioral biases include overconfidence, over thinking, herding, cognitive bias, and hindsight effect of investors. Multiple regression models are used to test influence of five behavioral biases on investment decision. The results show that overconfidence, over thinking, herding, cognitive bias, and hindsight effect have significant positive impact on investment decision. Overall results conclude that much change in investment decision is due to behavioral biases. This study will help financial advisors to better advice their clients. The one way to reduce these biases may be education and training of investors.","PeriodicalId":426560,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Empirical Research","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132409933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
