In 2017, Bali gained an award to be the world’s best tourist destination by TripAdvisor, the world largest travel site. As a result, the award would also boost the government’s endeavors to reach the target of 20 million foreign tourists by 2019. In fact, this award and a number of other awards that had been attributed to the island of God are achieved due to the unity of the movement of the implementation of Tri Hita Karana (THK) and Sad Kertih (SK) values as local wisdom in maintaining Balinese balance. This study aims at investigating the implementation of THK and SK values in designing Bali tourism model in the context of community services of Indonesian higher education. By applying the descriptive qualitative research method, the data, both primary and secondary, were collected through participant observation in 7 seven villages of different regency in Bali Province, interview, and literature study.","PeriodicalId":426517,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116873465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This focus on textual meaning aims at unveiling the hidden linguistic resources or codes incorporated in the novel. It also aims at bringing out how the author of this novel has organized and established Themes to construct clauses in order to convey his message. Through a descriptive approach, the grammar of Textual meaning is studied in Chukwuemeka's Sunset at Dawn (1976). The qualitative descriptive method used in this article is supported by a quantitative method in using descriptive statistical analysis to calculate the percentage of the different fields. The study reveals that the Theme/Rheme structure is an essential component in the construction of a cohesive and coherent text. This has enabled us to assert that Sunset at Dawn by Chukwuemeka Ike is a well-written novel.","PeriodicalId":426517,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121081932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, in analyzing the language that is used to state identity, this research used the work of Bloome, et al., (2005) in which they have found that in order to imply their identities, the students used a variety of linguistic means such as conjunction structures, authoritative figures, specific lexical items including names, complementary pairs, places, and highly evaluated items. But the fact that some women, under the umbrella of it abuse children, men, and even their fellow women are problematic in contemporary African novels. Liberal and radical feminisms are part and parcel of feminisms in championing women's rights. This article examines women's liberal and radical feminist stratagems with the lens of African social appraisals in giving an answer to the following question: what are the African social appraisals of women's liberal and radical feminist stratagems in their quests for women's rights? Or what do the stratagems applied by liberal and radical feminists lead women to in contemporary African societies?n Through liberal and radical feminist readings of selected contemporary African male and female writings such as Amma Darko's The Housemaid (1998), Daniel Mengara's Mema (2003), Asare Adei's A Beautiful Daughter (2012), and Lola Shoneyin's The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives (2010), we have examined how women with liberal/radical feminism are treated and considered in African patriarchal setting. In short, the result shows that African women need a feminism that gives way for consistent dialogue and which goes in line with non-violent stratagems like the one of liberal feminism in their quest for women's rights. The contrary, as in radicalism via violence against children, men or women, leads to men's violence on women, isolation of women and humiliation of women in contemporary African societies. The position of the contemporary African female and male novels, we have worked on proves that violent stratagems adopted by African feminists in advocating for women's rights should be reconsidered so as to assure the respect for human rights and take into account the socio-cultural realities of African societies.","PeriodicalId":426517,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121956697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This quest takes diverse forms namely financial, material, political and social to name just a few. Once it is got, the use may raise problems or difficulties that nobody mainly the holder has ever thought of. Here, it depends on how it is used. Power can be used properly by serving one's fellows. Whether used properly or not, Man's power ends on this earth. In this vein, in order to build a good reputation and or personality of oneself on this earth and after death, one has to use one's power in a good way. This research paper aims at bringing human beings to be aware of the fact that they must account for all their deeds one day or the other, and consequently must think several times before acting or even uttering a single word. If this is known, they must be as modest and honest as possible no matter their power and/or the fields where they operate in order to contribute to the promotion of their community and as such the development of their country. The study has highlighted the failure of Koomson who has misused his power in The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born by Armah on the one hand and the rehabilitation of the man who has always been modest and honest on the other and each of them rewarded accordingly. Otherwise, it has proved that men have always accounted and will always account for their deeds and therefore ripe their fruits accordingly. It has also shown that Armah has been both a novelist and a teacher through the evolution of both characters under study. In order to efficiently explore the topic, I have used the theories of characterization and qualitative.","PeriodicalId":426517,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123385499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
