We present an approach for equipping embedded and smart devices on the Internet of Things with a Linked Data interface. The approach is based on mapping existing structured data on the device to vocabularies and ontologies and exposing this information as dereferencable RDF directly from within the device. As a result, all smart devices (e.g. tablets, smartphones, TVs) can easily provide standardized structured information and become first class citizens on the Data Web. A particular specific requirement when dealing with smart and embedded devices is resource constraints. Our evaluation shows, that the overhead introduced by equipping a device with a Linked Data interface is neglectable given modern software and hardware environments.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126987340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing UDDI based discovery techniques fail to recognize similarities and differences between Web service capabilities and thus greatly limit the scope of service discovery. Hence, in this paper we present a framework for discovering the vast amount of Web services present in Internet based on a novel semantic approach to automatically discover the most appropriate services to user requirements. Our framework is based on a natural language query to facilitate usage of our implemented discovery framework. For this purpose, we first apply some computational linguistics techniques such as part-of-speech tagging and word sense disambiguation to format and extract useful semantic information from user query. Then, we propose an innovative semantic matchmaking technique based on significant concepts properties in the referenced domain ontology. The proposed technique is implemented in a prototype system to evaluate our system performance and compare it to a related work. The results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124136515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Business logic and language issues are mainly implemented at the iiCALL server. To meet the challenges for providing high quality and context-related language learning, the iiCALL system is assumed to be semantically interoperable, scalable and flexible. Additionally, existing and well approved technologies and standards have to be taken into consideration. Open technologies for communication are as important as a knowledge-based and service-oriented architecture (SOA). Following an idea coming from the healthcare sector, in particular the development of Health Level Seven International (HL7) version 3, the iiCALL development process concentrates on object-oriented analysis and object-oriented design to achieve a generic data model. Based on the initial architecture and database design, the development process for iiCALL applications is redeveloped, which by abstraction yields to the iiCALL generic data model.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125753374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly, a remarkable effort has been made in the context of Web service discovery, a very important and active research domain. In fact, the number of Web services has grown rapidly and the task of their discovery resting on standards, UDDI and ebXML becomes more and more difficult. The most proposed approaches for Web services discovery focused on the description of Web services themselves and neglect their interaction with each other. In this paper, we use the concepts of social networking, the principles of recommender systems and Web services communities, in the context of Web 2.0, introduced in our previous work to significantly reduce this task. In this context, two properties could be particularly required in the specification of these frameworks: (i) a loose coupling between the service layer and the object layer, allowing evolution of the service layer with a minimal impact on the object layer, (ii) an interoperability induced by the substitution principle associated to subtyping in the object layer, allowing to freely convert a value of a subtype into a supertype. However, experimenting with the popular cxf framework, we observed some undesirable coupling and interoperability issues, due to the failure of the substitution principle. Therefore we propose a new specification of the data binding used to translate data between the object and service layers. We show that if the cxf framework followed the specification, then the substitution principle would be recovered, with all its advantages.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133061090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An increased number of users now have multiple accounts on various social networks and they tend to use each account to write different user experiments. Aggregating information from different accounts leads to the unintended leakage of personal information. Therefore, we argue that SNS users should be vigilant in protecting the relationship between multiple accounts.\u0000 In this paper, we propose the use of Account Reachability, a measure of privacy risk which demonstrates the possibility of a stranger finding a user's private account based on information in their public account. In addition, we present ARChecker, a tool to calculate the value of account reachability. ARChecker also provides advice on how to modify the user's profiles and messages to decrease the privacy risk. By checking the privacy measure and modifying the profiles and messages of their SNS accounts, users can protect their multiple accounts from the risk of an unintended leakage of personal information.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131625136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we model the social context of the person as the status messages generated by those socially associated people and propose a method to use his social context to improve the web search query expansion process for him. Our method extracts and ranks keywords from the status messages, which are relevant with the initial search query that is to be expanded. The selected keyword is then appended with the initial query to form socially expanded query. We show that useful search queries can be formed in terms of specialization and parallel movement, if we use the socially expanded query for further expansion using traditional expansion processes. Our method ensures privacy by keeping the social network data segregated from search engine vendors. Moreover, we provide directions for implementing this method without the intervention of search engine vendors. Nevertheless, the background search process is considered to be provided by search engine vendors in the form of Application Program Interface (API).","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126151313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an initial work, this paper presents a survey research on the current situation of knowledge transfer in the context of information systems integration in Thailand by focusing on three dimensions: components, processes and factors. The tool used in the survey is an online questionnaire with IOC of greater than 0.5 and Cronbach's alpha of reliability of 0.86 for the entire scale. The result from 265 samples in 56 organizations reveals that the majority of the samples has a high level of education and relies primarily on knowledge and experiences in their work. This leads to knowledge being locked in individuals. It is also found that knowledge storage is neglected and that there is a lack of appropriate environments supporting knowledge transfer. These findings identify the requirements for a knowledge transfer framework in the context of information systems integration.","PeriodicalId":424918,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133537062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
