The current dialects areas – South, West and North – are the remnants of a much greater geographical distribution of Irish throughout the country. The major differences in pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, which can be observed in Irish today, probably go back to the early classical period. The standard dialect survey of Irish is Heinrich Wagner’s comprehensive atlas (1958-1964); there are also many individual studies which document the language in the early twentieth century. Southern Irish refers to a few areas in the southern province of Munster (Co. Kerry, Co. Waterford), Western Irish refers to forms of Irish spoken west of Galway and on the Aran Islands and Northern Irish is spoken in pockets of West Ulster (Co. The objective of the study is to ascertain the possibility of using dialect to salvage the despicable situations arising from herders-farmers clashes in Nigeria. The study adopts the image schemas as the theoretical framework. Data are drawn from textbooks, journal articles, and online versions of national dailies. The research discovers that an attack on the goals of herders and farmers, which are to provide food for their cattle and harvesting their yam produce respectively, is the root of the tensions between herders and farmers. The paper also reveals that before dialect will serve as an enablement in addressing the herders-farmers clash, the federal character of Nigeria as enshrined in the constitution must be fully implemented. Bihar, one of the largest states of India, is located in the eastern part of the country with a population of 104.1 million as per Bihar Population Census (2011). The study investigates the relationship between language and religious identity and shows how different religious groups sharing the same space identify themselves with specific language concerning their religion that is clearly evident through manifestation of diverse languages in their respective holyscapes. A total 114 religious signage are photographed by using diversity sampling method from various religious sites and public roads in Patna, the capital city of Bihar.
