Short duration of the pulses — which is what causes their wide frequency band — has also this advantage that it gives opportunity to perform time analysis and eliminate many unwanted signals, simply on a base of their time of arrival (when significantly different from the time of arrival of the signal of concern [13]). Known of UWB pulses is the fact that their shape is easily changed due to the convolution with pulse responses of the transmitter and receiver components [3], [21]. Antenna is here a recognized bottle neck [1]. However, this problem is possible to be mitigated by using better antenna or one of deconvolution techniques [6]. This paper identifies a problem with definition of the resolution of such imaging system. It is demonstrated that the pulse response of the object itself is also convoluted with measurement UWB pulse. Therefore, the resolution of the image of the object depends on the shape and dimensions of the object, what makes its definition rather ambiguous.","PeriodicalId":424165,"journal":{"name":"2011 MICROWAVES, RADAR AND REMOTE SENSING SYMPOSIUM","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114356784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the research conducted for the study of this concept, a passive radar mounted to an aircraft was used. The radar utilizes signals transmitted by illuminators of opportunity, e.g. FM radio or DVB-T transmitters. In this way, it is possible for the aircraft to be equipped with a low cost, lightweight, low-power consuming and undetectable radar with a relatively long range. To verify the concept, two experiments with passive radar on a moving platform were carried out. In this paper the results of the experiments are presented, showing the potential of airborne passive radar.","PeriodicalId":424165,"journal":{"name":"2011 MICROWAVES, RADAR AND REMOTE SENSING SYMPOSIUM","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116097010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore make the Performance of Conventional methods to maximize signal to noise ratio inefficient. Our solution for this problem uses the Hough transform which employs the slope-intercept parameter space. In this paper we investigate the performance of Hough transform-based detector for HRR RADAR signals, in the presence of Weibull and Rayleigh distributed clutter for non-fluctuating and four types of Swerling targets we also consider the effect of the velocity of target and number of pulses. The performance of target detection of Hough transform-based detector is analyzed through Monte-Carlo simulation runs.","PeriodicalId":424165,"journal":{"name":"2011 MICROWAVES, RADAR AND REMOTE SENSING SYMPOSIUM","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121842842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that such estimator should and can adapt to tail heaviness. Adaptation can be carried out by setting a tunable parameter δ proportional to data scale and dependent on tail heaviness. The latter property can be characterized by robust estimate of kurtosis. Experiments are performed for the family of generalized Gaussian distributions. They have allowed proposing a novel adaptation mechanism. Appropriate performance of the proposed adaptive meridian is confirmed for other heavy tail distributions.","PeriodicalId":424165,"journal":{"name":"2011 MICROWAVES, RADAR AND REMOTE SENSING SYMPOSIUM","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130128783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
