Internationally Western mainstream media, started referencing Islam, Islamic countries and muslim demographics as “terrorist”, “extremists”, and as only “radicals”. The 9/11 incident in New York marked the hight of Islamophobia internationally. In some countries, like France, Britain and the US, where the majority of the population is non-Muslim, this anti-Muslim sentiment can be seen in several forms, such as Muslims being treated disrespectfully and unfairly. These anti-muslim manifestations certainly has a very devastating impact on particularly Muslim women living in non-Muslim (Western) countries, especially for those wearing the hijab and burqa. Indonesia, which internationally has the greatest Muslim majority, is not immune to the unjust phenomenon of Islamophobia, with several schools and institutions prohibiting students from wearing, for example the hijab. The purpose of this study is to realize a religious life marked by the values of mutual respect, inclusivity and tolerance without discrimination. The method used in this study is qualitative, while the data collection technique uses the library research method. Limitations and formulations of the problems to be problematised are as follows: 1) the forms and causes of Islamophobia in Indonesia and Western countries; and 2) how Islamophobia impacts particularly Muslim women living in non-Muslim countries. Parts of speech are English basic component in which words are recognized and classified based on their lexical functions. They consist of eight major parts of speech, such as nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions and interjections. The instrument of this study is written test, there are two kinds of test: first, Identifying the italic word in a sentence and second is classifying the words that consist of 30 words about parts of speech then the participants sort them and classify into the table. The participants of this study are 40 students that consist of four majors; mining engineering, industry engineering, environmental engineering and information system students. From each major the researcher took 10 students. Based on the results of the research, it can be stated that the students’ understanding of parts of speech are varied on the range of 40%-90%. There were some students who had difficulties about the recount text. They did not know the structure of recount text. This research was conducted at SMKN 5 Padang in the 2021/2022 school year. This research used descriptive research. The population of this research were25 students of class XTPM 3 SMKN 5 Padang. The instrumentation of the research was reading test. The results showed that students' reading abilities in the recount text at TPM 3 SMK 5 Padang class could be categorized as good. Based on the data, there were 3 students got excellent (12%), while there were 4 students got very good(16%), then there were 7 students got good (28%), then there were 5 students got sufficient (20%), and last there were 6 students got poor (24%). Based on the research analysis, it can be concluded that students struggled due to lack of vocabulary, and there were some students who did not understand about the text,and had difficulty in determining parts of the generic structure.
