The impact of redundant and noisy features degrades the learning model’s performance. It may also increase the computational cost. The curse of dimensionality is the major concern in the case of microarray datasets. To eliminate this issue, feature selection methods play an effective role. This study proposes a hybrid filter-wrapper feature selection model using mRMR_Plus as a filter and grasshopper optimization algorithm as a wrapper. In the first stage of the proposed model, a ranked base filter mRMR_Plus is used to identify the top-ranked features from the original dataset. Cross-operator embedded simulated annealing (SA) is adopted to basic grasshopper optimization to develop a new wrapper model. The proposed model was tested with different cancer datasets to recognize the best optimal features. The result of mRMR-Plus-GO-SA is compared with different existing approaches. From the result and the comparative study, it’s noteworthy to state that the new mRMR_Plus-GO-SA filter wrapper model performs far better as compared to its counterparts in terms of the number of features selected and accuracy.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129087392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous smart-city projects are planned to be implemented and completed in near future. However, with a considerable amount of dependence on cyber-physical systems, safety and reliability are a concern. Due to the increase in the number of threats and the rise in the sophistication of such threats, traditional security measures seem inefficient in safeguarding safety-critical systems including autonomous vehicles (AVs). With the inability to offer reliable and safe solutions, failure in the adoption of such technology eventually may jeopardize the entirety of smart projects. Taking AV as a case study, this paper gives a brief review of the threats to self-driving cars. As a solution to such issues, we give a brief review on game theory-based solutions that could offer resilience in the context.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126431258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This proposed Intelligent trash bin system monitors trash levels in each bin, as well as to detect the presence of any combustible gases that could be leading to a fire, and then proceeds to send out an alert to concerned authorities. The paper presents a low-cost design of an intelligent trash bin solution. The system is based on an ESP8266 microcontroller board, ultrasonic sensor, and combustible gas sensor. A prototype was built and tested and it shows that the system can measure the trash level and also detect flammable gases and send alert signals to the authorities.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125842756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they have some pros and cons. On the one hand, individuals consume latest news instantly and freely, while enjoying the ease of access of instantaneous information transmission. On the other hand, such abundance makes it easy to wide-spread “fake news where the content purposefully incorporates incorrect information to serve some hidden agenda. In this paper, we investigate multiple machine learning algorithms on the road to identify fake news in a proactive manner. We first analyze the viability of applying the Natural Language Processing (NLP) technique to build a labeled dataset. We, then, introduce two approaches for NLP visualization and discuss their performance before selecting the best performer. Using logistic regression, and multinomial Naïve Bayes algorithms, we classify fake news in new data. Finally, we discuss our achieved results and share our lessons learned and recommendations, especially that we achieved an accuracy of 98% in our experiments.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"244 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133849884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most deep learning systems, such as Convolutional neural networks (CNN) and Long Short-term Memory (LSTM), necessitate a huge quantity of training data and are plagued by issues such as inflating gradients, overfitting, and class imbalance, among others. In this work, CNN-LSTM deep learning algorithm was proposed to address the challenges facing CNN and LSTM respectively. This work used the CNN-LSTM deep learning algorithm to develop a learning model for classification of foliar disease of apple leaves. In order to create learning classification models based on accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and AUC standard performance evaluation techniques, both CNN and LSTM algorithms were employed. CNN-LSTM happened to be the best model in terms of accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and AUC standard performance evaluation methodologies, with 98.00%,95.00%, 96.00parcent, and 94.00% respectively. Hence, the model has shown a significant improvement as compared to other models for being able to correctly classified apple leaves into affected leaves with disease/s and non-affected leaves with disease/s with 98.00% accuracy. Likewise, for the ability to classify the apple leaves affected with disease/s, correctly CNN-LSTM also outperformed other models with 95.00parcent. Moreover, CNN-LSTM based model also has shown a significant improvement as compared other models, for being able to correctly classified apple leaves that were not affected with disease/s with 96.00%.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121138727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since those patients often visit various healthcare institutions, large amounts of data related to their general health are generated. This imposes a challenge on how to securely store this data and make it accessible for authorized healthcare institutions treating the patient. In this paper, we propose a system that combines blockchain technology with cryptographic primitives and decentralized storage systems to securely store and share medical records for diabetic patients. We analyze the security of the proposed scheme in terms of data confidentiality, data integrity, data availability, and user privacy. We encipher the healthcare records and store them in the distributed InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). This is to preserve the secrecy of sensitive healthcare data and to avoid the single point of failure issues. Blockchain is used only to store the hash value of the healthcare records and their location in the IPFS, resulting in lower operational costs while preserving the integrity of the healthcare data. To enforce fine-grained access control, our system allows the patient to determine who can access their medical records with the help of an attributebased encryption scheme. Only authorized users can decipher and access the original health data if they own the appropriate attributes defined in the access policy.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"432 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115934010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The various modes of transportation should allow affordable and comfortable travel from one point to another in an urban city to discourage people in owning their own vehicle that may result to more traffic congestions and detrimental environmental effects. In this study, we employ empirical urban mobility datasets to evaluate a proposed Game Theory-based pricing method that can be used in ridesharing of two passengers to reduce traveling cost, while keeping the driver revenue approximately equal. We consider passenger pairings where a second commuter’s origin and destination points are after the first commuter passenger, thereby, creating an overlapped and shared travel distance between the two commuters. From extensive simulations, our Game Theory-based pricing scheme resulted in (1) approximately 30% less number of active taxi trips needed to transport people from origin to destination places, (2) slight increase in the travel distance of each passenger due to the optimization of shortest path that can cater both commuters (nearly 8% on the average for the three cities), (3) reduced average passenger fare (at least 15% fare reduction) when compared to solo riding, (4) little to no driver revenue increase, and (5) lower passenger fare rate, i.e., cost per kilometer.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116100229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Internet of Things has the potential to speed up the process of automating several industries, including the automotive, transportation, production, and advertising sectors. Large-scale IIoT systems will have security difficulties when its benefits become clear, leading to repeated large-scale attacks that damage key infrastructure or fraudulent transactions. The system is additionally challenged by the vast quantity of connected devices and the consequent constraints on available resources (such as their battery life, memory, and processing power). Traditional communication and networking flaws are also present in the IIoT, but it takes more work to tailor security solutions to secure critical industrial control systems. These flaws are carried over to the IIoT. While there is some literature on the topics of security, privacy, and trust in IIoT systems, a more thorough examination of the many moving parts that make up an IIoT system is lacking. This study compares IoT security vulnerabilities to solve the problem. We explore several IIoT security difficulties and criteria. We also explore available IIoT designs to rigorously investigate these security threats. We describe viable countermeasures and explain how security weaknesses at any layer of an IIoT architecture affect its functionality. This report proposes future research on trustworthy, large-scale, and secure IIoT systems. The report highlights the multiple IIoT system threats and attacks to improve security awareness.","PeriodicalId":422888,"journal":{"name":"2023 1st International Conference on Advanced Innovations in Smart Cities (ICAISC)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123816268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
