An array of six small sized independent motors are arranged in an array of 3×2 matrix. The shaft is coupled with a lead screw. Another internally threaded hexagonal nut is fitted on the lead screw which is constrained to move only in axial direction which actuates the pins. The device requires very low voltage and its operation is independent of temperature. The actuation of the pins can be achieved within 0.08 seconds as compared to 50 seconds in electrothermal braille refreshable display and 0.5 seconds in ionic polymer metal composite (IPMC) actuators. Moreover, no continuous power supply is required to retain the pins in the position once they have been actuated.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124368723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a growing need for algorithms that quickly yield the correct region of interest around the face. Here an algorithm is proposed which performs skin detection using Particle Swarm Optimization for face localization. Where minimization of fitness function is used to resolve optimization problems. Here bounding boxes are modelled as particles, or randomly distributed test vectors to ascertain for the region of interest in an image where it is likely that the face exists, with the fitness value returned by the fitness function that tests the interior of a box for maximum entropy and maximum skin like features, which in combination indicates how likely the interior represents a face. Consequently, the particle (bounding box) with the best fitness value is chosen as face region of the image, and the output is fed to a Binary Particle Swarm Optimization based Face Recognition System therefore yielding higher recognition rates than conventional systems.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131336648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this paper purposes a less noise sensitive controller named modified proportional integral derivative (MPID) load frequency controller for the two area interconnected system counting thermal plant and wind power plant. The proposed controller is formulated by integrating low pass filter along with PID controller. The two area interconnected system is incorporated DFIG based wind power plant as participation of wind power is increasing day by day. Additionally, parameter of PID load frequency controller is tuned by internal model control (IMC) tuning method. Moreover, a comparative analysis is made between simulation results of IMC and Ziegler and Nichols (Z-N) tuning method. Simulation has been done in MATLAB/Simulink. The frequency and tie line power deviation reduces for proposed controller with both Z-N and IMC tuning methods. Hence, proposed controller has proved its applicability and appropriateness.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"50 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114230863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed circuit consists of H-bridge cells with asymmetric capacitor voltages. However, the difference in voltage among the H-bridge cells is less than 10% leading to a modular design. The space vector diagram formed by proposed circuit consists of six twelve sided polygons (dodecagons). Dodecagonal Space Vector diagram offers increased modulation range as compared to conventional hexagonal space vector diagram. The increased voltage obtained can be used suitable in static compensators as shown in this paper. Additionally decagonal space vector pulse width modulation on this dodecagonal space vector diagram offers several advantages like reduction in harmonics, reduction in dv/dt rating of switches, complete elimination of 6n±1 harmonics (for n= odd) etc. Simulation results demonstrating the benefits of Dodecagonal Space Vector PWM in STATCOM application are also presented.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130048182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A database of CT scan image slices of lung Adenocarcinoma is considered for experiments. The basic approach is to devise a framework, which lets a user input a 2D lung CT slice as a query image and output visually similar pathological images from the lung image case database. Feature point maps are used to represent the region-of-interest. Chamfer distance transform has been used as a measure to evaluate similarity for retrieval framework. The retrieval of similar pathological case slices in a quick time can aid the diagnosis and treatment of a new subject based on patient histories of the retrieved scans.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130405448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the comparison of various scanning techniques for feature extraction in iris recognition. Iris localization and segmentation was performed using Circular Haugh Transformation, which estimates the parameters of iris using edge map. Normalization on the segmented iris was performed using Rubber sheet model, to convert the circular iris in-to a rectangle of fix dimension. Thereafter Discrete Cosine Transformation coefficients were extracted from the normalized iris using different scanning techniques. The scanning techniques used are Zigzag, Raster, and Saw-tooth. Experimental results show the promising performance of Raster Type-II scanning technique with 100 coefficients. The database used for the observations is CASIA iris database version-IV. The analysis and experimental results show that proposed scheme can be used in iris recognition systems for better performance.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130694438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even if islanding occurs the duration of the situation must be decreased as much as possible. In order to achieve this detection, various methodologies have been proposed. The voltage gain of the converter is almost double in comparison to the conventional boost converter. Reduction in the source current ripples is primarily achieved through interleaved gating scheme. The additional capacitance (C) in the feedback path is responsible for further reduction in source current ripples. A steady-state and dynamic analysis is established to predetermine the circuit performance. This includes the current sharing on two parallel branches of the boost converter. Small-signal transfer functions are formulated to analyze the current sharing behavior during dynamical conditions. A24 to 100 V, 50 W prototype is designed for verification of source current ripples reduction and load sharing. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed design, voltage regulation and the load division in the parallel interleaved boost-cells without using any current-mode controller. Experimental measurements are in close correlation to analytical predictions.","PeriodicalId":422673,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics (UPCON)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131486766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
