En los ultimos anos, un creciente numero de lideres jovenes ha asumido la direccion de una escuela, sin embargo, poco se sabe sobre las caracteristicas de su trayectoria laboral. Este estudio busca resolver este vacio en la literatura, explorando la carrera de directores de escuela publicas pertenecientes a la generacion milenio. Por medio de un enfoque cualitativo, la carrera de nueve directores y directoras fue analizada considerando sus historias de vida. Si bien cada historia es particular, se observo gran convergencia tematica en la trayectoria profesional de los directores, identificandose tres elementos centrales: trabajo duro, orientacion al aprendizaje y un contexto favorable. Las implicancias para la carrera directiva a nivel global y nacional son discutidas. EnglishTraditional studies on leadership career have been developed under lineal assumptions, in which a teacher moves slowly up through the school levels, from classroom responsibilities to school headship. In latest years, a growing number of young school leaders have taken the headship of a school, however, little is known about their trajectory to this role. This study aims to fill that gap in literature, exploring the career of Millennial generation public school headteachers. Using a qualitative approach, we interviewed 9 head teachers and analyzed their career considering their life-stories. Even though each story is particular, there was a great convergence in relation to the themes in their career, and we identified 3 central elements: hard work, an openness to learning and a favorable context. El analisis revela una primera aproximacion centrada en el conductismo y la perspectiva de la gramatica, que fue puesta en discusion luego por el enfoque cognitivo y por el discurso sobre las competencias, los cuales se apoyan en los desarrollos de las ciencias del lenguaje.
