This problem has been shown to be significant interenst in solving the waste managament, e.g. land filling is a common practice. However, environmental issues are presented. In particular, land filling is an expensive method in terms of the volume cost, so compactors are required to accomodate more waste. Different compactors have been developed for both mobile and static usage mode as the automatic compacting receptacles normally used for fast food areas, mall food courts, airports, parks or any public areas. But, they are designed for mixed waste and prevent for recycling. In that sense, this paper aims to present a proof of concept of an automatic compacting recepticle system exclusivey for aluminium cans. Using a mechatronics design, the proposal was implemented in a functional prototype. Preliminary results detected strengths and weaknesses of the proposal, also suggesting that the proposal can be applied for public areas in near future.","PeriodicalId":422068,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Mexican Humanitarian Technology Conference (MHTC)","volume":"34 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124190515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important processes applied during the treatment of water, is the removal of pathogens as bacteria due that can reduce the preventable mortality of infectious intestinal diseases. Previous studies on the manufacture of films based on rutile-phase titanium dioxide nanoparticles embedded in an inorganic SOG matrix on Corning glasses showed moderate photocatalytic activity against the inactivation of E. coli. However, the preparation conditions of these films must be improved, and their photocatalytic activity in the inactivation of E. coli using titanium dioxide in anatase phase titanium dioxide with a lower particle size must be evaluated. In this study, the ideal conditions for the synthesis of nanoparticles and preparation of titanium dioxide films for their subsequent application in photocatalytic reactions for the inactivation of pathogens were found. An increase in the titanium dioxide films photocatalytic activity in the inactivation of bacteria was obtained with respect to those previously reported.","PeriodicalId":422068,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Mexican Humanitarian Technology Conference (MHTC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130606230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that sense, this paper aims to present the development of an automatic pill dispenser to improve attention on medical treatment when a patient does not take medicine on time. The implementation considers two components: a fixed device that works as the main automated pill dispenser, and a portable device that can communicate with the fixed device in order to synchronize medical treatment information in both devices. Experimental results proves that this functional prototype improves the number of times a patient not forget to follow a medical treatment and it reduces the delays in taking pills.","PeriodicalId":422068,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Mexican Humanitarian Technology Conference (MHTC)","volume":"1932 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129055753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model was based on the information provided by multi-spectral cameras in four bands (red, green, blue and near-infrared (808 nm). The model was validated with ground truth information obtained by destructive methods. For training phase, three different fertilization levels of the crops were used (70, 140 y 210 kg · N · ha/sup -1/) with three repetitions in two stages of growing (V10 and earring). Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology was used. UAV quad-copter type flying 70 meters above the crops and machine learning techniques were used for the prediction stage. Results shown that the model can estimate nitrogen levels with 80% of precision with low cost technologies (multi-spectral cameras and UAVs). This proposal aims to optimize the fertilization since it actually is applied uniformly in the crops. The proposed scheme is focused on areas where the nitrogen is insufficient, avoiding the waste and reducing the impact on the environment.","PeriodicalId":422068,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Mexican Humanitarian Technology Conference (MHTC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127344552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the emergency brief therapy as tool for crisis interventions, is used; because that is ideal for areas associated with natural disasters. This generates an emotional imbalance in the bio-psycho-social-spiritual area, emotional autonomy and community destabilization, with big traumatic impact and of delay in the development of a country. However, there aren't researches with applied interventions cognitive-behavioral therapy in crises by disasters. In Ecuador, April 2015, there was a 7.8 Richter earthquake, located in Manabí-Esmeraldas Provinces, that generated a total devastation in the area, where the entire population obtained both material and human losses. A Crisis Government intervention model was applied, obtaining results few satisfactory. This paper present a novel model that could generate better results by ensuring a high percentage of homeostasis (emotional balance).
