Due to the fact that it grows exponentially, it is a difficult task to efficiently locate specific information. This paper presents a User-defined Meta-Search Engine (UMSE), adaptable to user preferences. UMSE utilises tip to 9 known search engines according to a user-defined ranking, submits its queries in parallel and finally presents the merging results back to the user. The anticipated outcome of using UMSE is that the user gets enhanced amount of information, recording in parallel his search preferences. Common practical problem is how to estimate voice quality for a different number of voice sources with different source characteristics in target networks. Important characteristics of a voice source are: rate (packets per second), packet length (depending on a type of compression), type of source (VBR or CBR) and statistical description. In this paper we propose methodology and practical approach for systematic measurement of voice traffic parameters in respect to varying voice source characteristics. The proposed approach uses aggregate motion of creatures in the artificial life based on flocks. Creatures have the social tendency to stick together, and to perform lifelike emergent behaviour, which is based on a few simple, local rules. They differ from most other artificial life flocking (Boids-type) implementations by being attracted by creatures that \"sit\" on the best found result. Their emergent behaviour produces effective search in the space of all possible solutions. The operation of this method can be divided in three stages: a cluster forming and two local search stages. In the first stage it approaches some locally optimal solutions by grouping based on similarity. In the second stage it improves the accuracy of the approximation of the solutions with a local search procedure while periodically generating new solutions. In the third stage the algorithm continues the application of the local search procedure. We tested our algorithm on all the benchmark problems of ORLIB. The algorithm managed to find within an acceptable time limit the best-known solution for the problems, or found solutions within 1% of the best-known solutions in 99% of the tasks.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. However, relevant and consistent results can be obtained only if the model has sufficient details and the simulation and analysis procedures meet high enough quality criteria. The solution space of simulations may have several clearly separate, but equally probable optimal minima. This together with the stochastic nature of simulations typically necessitates several long simulations. Here we describe implementations of the OSPF protocol and a novel random generator in NS-2 simulator. Additionally, we describe a tool that enables efficient statistical analysis of the simulation results. This article deals with applying an approach for modelling and optimisation of the process. Based on previous results, a new set of generalised stoichiometric equations is obtained. The derived stoichiometric equations are investigated by time series models based on experimental data. The important characteristic of this process (specific growth rate) is described by a non-linear dynamic model. Applied fermentation process for aerobic treatment of manure and at the same time for L-lysine production is described by non-linear dynamic model. Two-stage procedure is used for identification of the obtained model. Adequacy of the proposed model is obtained by simulation research.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002.
