Once the WEIS was put into production, the maintenance and reengineering considerations started, and the Information System Risk and Quality Check Coefficient (ISRQCC) method was periodically used to audit it. It also established the relationship between the (re)design and the reengineering process. This paper presents the application of the ISRQCC method in the SWI's Web Engineering (WE) project, where the audit operations resulted in a major reengineering process.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. It consists of representing the text file with compressed inverted file index in conjunction with very compact lexicon, where lexicon includes every word in the text. The index is compressed using standard index compression techniques, and lexicon is compressed with original dictionary compression method that gives better compression results than existing procedures. Compression procedure is complex, but decompression time is linear with the file size, although it requires two passes and hence can not be performed online. First experiments show that this method, when refined, can be competitive for larger texts that only need to be decompressed in the real time.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. The concept of fund accessible for different financial transaction makes the e-Deposit appropriate for use at universities. The application is implemented in three-tier architecture. Because of the extensive exchange of financial data over the Internet, the data integrity is secured. The business and data access tier are implemented in a modular manner helping the robustness of the application and reducing the risk of unwanted behavior. Special modules are used, that enable the integration of an e-commerce scenario in an already existing university information system.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. They encapsulate the domain knowledge as well as the application's logic. In this paper, a powerful visual tool for developing expert systems is introduced. It comes with a dictionary-based approach for the integration of expert systems into host projects. A practical solution to the problem of data integration from conventional database systems in expert systems is suggested.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. Such an approach is usually regarded as the strategic planning of information systems (SPIS). A unified methodology for SPIS does not exist up to the present time, although several methods, techniques and templates might be inventively integrated to develop a new IS for each particular business system. This paper present how this integration could be performed to obtain a consistent methodology named SPIS. Such a methodology has been developed by the authors and applied to six large-scale projects in very different business environments. In this way a theoretical approach was confirmed and extended by new experiences, which are presented in this article.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. Determination of bread making quality of wheat is difficult due to complexity of sensory evaluation. This problem motivates investigation of computer image analysis of bread quality. Images of medium loaf surface are digitised and processed using original computer program for medium part porosity determination. Due to high correlation between chemical, physical and quality data, chemometric analysis is applied to determine minimal number of latent variables for determination of clusters of samples and properties (variables) in two dimensional score planes. Robust partial least squares models for prediction of bread quality based on only four latent variables are developed.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. The relative performance of users cannot be explained by examining their cognitive style classification that is calculated by a purely visual test. Therefore an extension to the visual classification is proposed that reflects the way individuals' perceive information that is presented using both audio and video. This paper reviews the visual definition of cognitive style and the auditory dimension. Then the performance of subjects in a series of experiments is analysed to assess whether the new definition of cognitive style explains their behaviour.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. There are many complicated characteristics of the Internet, so that the effectiveness and efficiency of current information retrieval systems is not satisfying. Internet information retrieval is one of the most active areas of computer science. Software agents have been investigated widely in recent years and agent technology has been applied in some intelligent systems. We introduce a distributed cooperative information retrieval multi-agent system, ICMAS. The system learns to understand user's information demand accurately through interactions with the user. The learning agent can improve the system's ability by acquiring new knowledge and sharing knowledge with other individuals.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002.
