Moreover, it is widely recognized that the additive increase multiplicative decrease paradigm (AIMD), implemented by the standard Reno TCP algorithm, is at the core of the Internet stability. Westwood TCP introduces the Additive Increase Adaptive Decrease (AIAD) paradigm for the Internet congestion control. This paper proposes a mathematical model for the steady state Westwood TCP throughput. The model aims at evaluating Westwood TCP stability, fairness and friendliness to Reno TCP. During 1995-1997 general mortality in population aged 75 and older was significantly associated with daily concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO/sub 2/), sulphur dioxide (SO/sub 2/) and black smoke. However, only for NO/sub 2/ the estimated curve showed significant effect within the central 90% of its range of daily concentrations. In comparison to previous results for general population, relative mortality rate for elderly was higher, supporting a hypothesis that this population is more sensitive to air pollution.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. The previous works in this area employed a large number of labeled training documents for supervised learning. The problem is that, it is difficult to create the labeled training documents. While it is easy to collect the unlabeled documents, it is not so easy to manually categorize them for creating training documents. Therefore, a new machine learning algorithm should be investigated to overcome these difficulties. We proposed a new algorithm called Iterative Cross-Training (ICT). The paper also present a new feature set which is the hierarchical structure of headings appearing in the Web page to enhance the classification performance. Cable is a natural network for carrying high-capacity, bandwidth-intense information. In the age of analogue program signals, cable's capacity was a natural transmission mediafor broadcast color TV and high-fidelity stereo sound programs. In the new digital program signal age, cable's high capacity is a natural network for carrying interactive computer-based, data-intensive multimedia programs. The introduction of the Open Computer Network (OCN) providing Internet like services, will lead to higher-level demands by users. For example, users will be asking for higher quality, greater functionality, and lower charges for high-speed, high-throughput data transfer. To respond effectively to the wishes of sophisticated and varied users, technology development must be pursued from the user's point view. For this reason, research and development is being performed on middleware to open up network functions and make it possible for the user and network to cooperate with each other. An animated, speech-driven agent has been developed in order to simulate a human expert. However, the main focus of this research is on adapting a theory of human plausible reasoning in order to render the agent's interaction with the user more human-like. The agent uses this reasoning while watching the user \"over the shoulder\" so that it can decide on the advice that fits the user better. The evaluation of the interface revealed that human-computer interaction can successfully be improved by the adaptation of such an animated, speech-driven agent, when it can reproduce human reasoning.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. We tested two online schedulers, the Enhanced Cilk Scheduler (ECS) and the Central Manager (CM). ECS is a decentralized scheduler, which implements work stealing and processor mugging techniques. CM is a centralized greedy scheduler. Our simulation results show that ECS is a well behaved scheduler particularly suited for scheduling task execution in dynamically changing systems because it is robust, requires little communication, and almost matches the performance of the CM scheduler.","PeriodicalId":420216,"journal":{"name":"ITI 2002. Is it merely the way that model implements integrity rules (i.e. entity integrity property, referential integrity property) or should the model's semantics of what user on some specific level can see and/or believe be considered as well? In this paper, the basic concepts of multilevel security (MLS) database models are described and issues regarding the MLS semantics are considered. A comparison of well-known multilevel security models (LDV, Jajodia-Sandhu (1991), MLR, Smith-Winslett (1992) and Belief-Consistent Model) is given.
