I will consider hair jewels as objects that are remnants of the Victorian past, but also as personal items that evoke affective responses through the senses. In this take on (neo-)Victorian literature and culture, I will consider the entanglement of subjects and objects, human remains (hair) and jewels, past and present, death and life in contemporary renditions of the Victorian craftwork of hair jewellery. Finally, I will argue that this fictionalisation of Victorian material traces allows us to mediate on the links and associations between the Victorian past and our (sensorial) responses to them, and that it opens up the ways to interrogate the affective relations between subjects and objects, the past and the present, then and now, as well as their impact upon our future.","PeriodicalId":41770,"journal":{"name":"Lectora-Revista de Dones i Textualitat","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66406298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examines how humor interacts with the changing representations of gender and sex(uality) at the beginning, the middle, and the end of the twentieth century; furthermore, it argues that humor is a valuable means of questioning binary patterns, which in this way may contribute to a life of equality-in-difference (my term). I also discuss certain types of comicality, e.g. sarcasm, the results of which can be detrimental or simply conformist. The article concludes that humor can help us to pull down hierarchies, find affinities, and build ethical relations among genders, sex(ualiti)es, and beyond.","PeriodicalId":41770,"journal":{"name":"Lectora-Revista de Dones i Textualitat","volume":"26 1","pages":"133-150"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66406350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the one hand, in the context of memory studies, it is necessary to analyze what effects censorship had on the configuration of cultural memory. On the other hand, censorship has a considerable effect on publishing strategies, both in itself and because it fosters self-censorship and countercensorship. In particular, this article explores the work of women publishers who, in the Barcelona of the 1960s and 1970s, opposed Franco's regime and confronted censorship, as they fought for the revolution of customs, freedom of expression, and the dissemination of culture.","PeriodicalId":41770,"journal":{"name":"Lectora-Revista de Dones i Textualitat","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77683292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There were, however, some exceptions, and some women were active in their business or in the shop’s specialized tasks. Por ello, del mismo modo que en su obra narrativa y en sus articulos de opinion subyace una reflexion constante sobre la igualdad y la identidad de genero, tambien su labor como editora refleja una aguda conciencia de la discriminacion aparejada a la condicion femenina. La hipotesis fundamental de este articulo es, por lo tanto, que la practica editorial puede ser tambien una forma de praxis feminista, no solo por todo lo que conlleva para una mujer tener un puesto de responsabilidad en un mundo economica y culturalmente dominado por los hombres, sino tambien por la manera en que determinados proyectos sirven para difundir y consolidar una conciencia de genero. En particular, se analizara la relevancia que areas como la literatura infantil o comics con un marcado sesgo reivindicativo, asi como la ficcion escrita por mujeres, tuvieron en los catalogos de editorial Lumen y RqueR, los dos sellos que Esther Tusquets fundo y dirigio en distintos momentos de su vida.","PeriodicalId":41770,"journal":{"name":"Lectora-Revista de Dones i Textualitat","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81783543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
