We compared stress relief effects in short-term interaction of robot-assisted activity and stuffed animal-assisted activity, which are complementing activities for animal-assisted activity. We confirmed that psychological stress relief effects, especially reducing tension, depression, and confusion and improving vigor, obtained by robot-assisted activity are significantly higher than that obtained by stuffed animal-assisted activity. On the other hand, no significant difference could be confirmed in physiological stress relief effects. Although negative feelings of unsatisfactory due to lack of reactions decreased psychological stress relief effects, some kind of interaction caused by softness were suppressed decreasing physiological stress relief effects combination with physiological stress relief effects by contact with soft things. These are assumed to be factors that results of psychological and physiological evaluations are different.","PeriodicalId":416828,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127399378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For reproducing physical contact, we aimed to achieve both the “active touch” function (shaking hands) and the “passive touch” reproducibility. We devised a mechanism and a production procedure to reproduce the “passive touch” such as fleshiness, pliability, and nail and made a prototype. We introduced an elastic material for maintaining force against external force to the wire-driven joint; we think this elasticity is necessary for “passive touch” reproducibility. By trying the actuation of the prototype and verifying the feeling with touch in the participant experiment, we confirmed the validity of the trial artificial hand.","PeriodicalId":416828,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131651782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We are aiming at the development of wearable vital signs measuring equipment using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor which is an optical fiber type strain sensor. In this report, blood pressure prediction was performed on seven elderly people with different pulse wave patterns, and the results were exam-ined. The blood pressure was predicted by constructing a calibration model by Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR) from the reference blood pressure measured simultaneously with the pulse wave measured by the FBG sensor. As a result, the blood pressure prediction error of all subjects become 6 mmHg for systolic blood pressure and 4 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure, which indicate the possibility of blood pressure prediction using FBG sensor in elderly people with different pulse wave patterns. In addition, it is possible to construct a calibration model for more accurate blood pressure prediction.","PeriodicalId":416828,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131953527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a novel definition of a control barrier function and a human assist control law with the proposed control barrier function. This paper proves that the proposed human assist control guarantees the safety of the control system under the human operation. Moreover, the paper shows that the control is the minimum of all safe inputs and a continuous function of both state and human inputs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by computer simulation and experiments of a four-wheeled mobile robot.","PeriodicalId":416828,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124024290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
