The results of an exploratory research are presented, the purpose of which was to identify subjective and objective learning factors associated with the development of business careers of graduates of MBA programs. The role of subjective (usefulness of knowledge, business connections) and objective (academic performance) learning factors in the development of a business career is evaluated. The obtained data confirm the validity of using the intelligent career model to analyse the features of the professional actualization of graduates after graduation. The importance of subjective criteria for evaluating the usefulness of the acquired knowledge for both objective (change in income, status) and subjective (satisfaction with the ratio of resource and result) career success is noted. It is shown that academic performance is not related to objective criteria of business career development. It is revealed that the form of employment (entrepreneur or corporate employee) is associated with subjective attitude to knowledge assets and with career development after obtaining an MBA degree.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However a unified algorithm is lacking and it makes compatible and impartial assessment of business performance rather complicated. The study develops and applies an automated adaptive methodology for calculating the integral indicator of company sustainability based on the generalized modified principal component analysis. The study is based on data from 23 Russian companies with maximum disclosure of sustainability indicators. The companies’ integral indicators generate sustainable development rating. It can be updated automatically with a new wave of the companies’ financial and non-financial reports. The proposed algorithm exceeds alternative methods of comparison of business models based on principles of sustainable development because it does not assume any expert assessments of companies’ activities and provides distinct ranking of companies. In contrast to the traditional principal component analysis the method developed in the article avoids any loss of variation of the initial data. Decomposition of the integral indicator identifies financial, socio-economic and environmental determinants for companies’ sustainability. The study examines the relationship between the ownership and management structure of the company and its achievements on sustainable development path.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper uses the Social Network Analysis technique to provide in-depth study of a company’s position in a network formed by formal connections among board members. The calculated network metrics are used to determine their impact on the company’s financial results. Empirical analysis is provided using data on Russian companies whose shares are included in the Moscow Exchange Broad Market Index for the period from 2014 to 2018. We use return on assets (ROA) and Tobin’s Q as metrics of a company’s performance. The results show that a company’s position in the network, described by degree centrality and closeness centrality, negatively affects the company’s return on assets. At the same time, centrality does not affect Tobin’s Q. An analysis of the specific for the Russian economy features of companies revealed the peculiarities of the influence of a company’s position in the network on the results of companies in the energy and oil and gas industries, as well as companies with a share of directors with experience in government bodies.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the article is to identify, classify and determine the prevalence of remote adaptation practices for new employees in the Russian market, as well as to study the relationship between the assessment of the positive experience of participation in remote adaptation practices and the effectiveness of adaptation through the prism of new employee perception. The empirical research was carried out in two stages including qualitative and quantitative methods. Based on the results of the interviews, 44 remote adaptation practices were classified, and the most frequently used practices were identified. The survey results showed a significant positive relationship between the integral assessment of the experience of participation in adaptation practices with each of the three scales of subjective assessment by newcomers of the adaptation effectiveness: satisfaction, loyalty and productivity. A significant connection was also revealed between the studied constructs and organizational socialization, which acts as a partial mediator of the relationship between the practices of remote adaptation and the results of adaptation.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The search for an effective tool to ensure strategic development and sustainable competitiveness of the company has been the subject of lively academic discussion since the middle of the last century. However, the research landscape is still highly fragmented and is characterized by the presence of several large gaps associated with an integrated approach to the study of the company, taking into account the action of global trends, incentives and patterns of behavior of key stakeholders and the formation of recommendations for the company’s management. One of the platforms uniting various scientific schools is foresight, a tool for shaping the vision of the future, which has been actively used by global corporations for over 70 years and has won wide recognition in the Russian community in recent years. It is shown that the current stage of Russian corporate foresights is in a state of rapid development and in many respects begins to correspond to world trends. The factors influencing the demand of Russian companies for foresight are determined. The author's forecast of possible trends for the development of foresight as a tool for strategic management of the company for the next 10 years has been made.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a comprehensive, yet simple gain sharing system with a special focus on the maximization of the parties’ satisfaction using a minimax regret approach is developed. The gain sharing system is applied to a vertical SCC including one manufacturer, one logistics service provide and one retailer in the Dutch fast moving consumer goods industry. Results identify a fair and robust gain share allocation, which maximizes the parties’ satisfaction and thus increases the probability of sustainable SCCs. We provide theoretical framework, which can be adapted, if necessary, to a particular SCC by using more practical satisfaction functions.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existent reviews on the board of directors do not focus on BRIC and do not consider the specifics of their corporate governance model. Therefore, the current review fills this gap by analysing 111 research papers from Scopus/Web of Science published between 2015 and 2020. Firstly, we provide a content analysis of abstracts to find the most frequent research topics and compare them to the developed countries’ studies. Secondly, based on the content analysis findings, we provide a qualitative analysis of three research directions: board composition, social capital, and board functioning, divided further into ten smaller research topics. Thirdly, we compare the research output with the developed countries’ studies and the statistics provided by the Spencer Stuart Board Indexes to analyse whether they are coherent. The results confirm the topicality of board research in BRIC and overlapping topics between the BRIC and the more developed countries. As a result, we formulate a research agenda for further studies on boards in BRIC.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Khanzhonkov & Co”. The author considers the specifics of establishing the management bodies, in which apart from Khanzhonkov himself as the main founder, participated the members of his family, relatives and close people. A well-known economist, professor I. Kh. Ozerov, which was out of this circle, was nevertheless included into the management board, since he was useful for the Company because he developed the program of creation of educational and scientific cinema, which helped to increase recognition of the Company and improved its image among the governing circles. However, the initiative of Ozerov to decrease the price of shares and trade them at a stock exchange, which could have allowed to significantly increased the main capital of the Company and its influence on the cinema production and distribution market, as the research shows, was not supported by Khanzhonkov. The main reason for this was the concern of the latter to lose the control over the Company and thus, the Company failed to significantly expand his opportunities during the First World War when a number of foreign companies had to leave Russian market. The management of the Joint stock company failed to use this opportunity and had to leave the market to new companies.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"49 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines which factors influence the consumer buying decision through s-commerce channels in Moscow. Through a rigorous process of expert interviews, we gain a first insight into the s-commerce market in Russia. Following this preliminary qualitative analysis, we collect survey data on purchase decisions among buyers on social media (stage 1: 303 respondents; stage 2: 252 respondents). An in-depth analysis via structural equation modelling reveals numerous factors that positively contribute to purchase intention. Among others, we find that the intensity of social interaction (e.g. frequency of updates and response time), quality of service (e.g. payment and delivery) and the availability of positive reviews are statistically significant determinants for a purchase decision. However, in line with expert feedback, we find that the significant influential factors differ across s-commerce channels. For example, in Инстаграм companies should emphasize platform convenience, content personalization and trust, with the latter factor significantly depending on security and the availability of reviews.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42514965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
