Methodology: the empirical research was based on competency assessments from the Leaders of Russia competition and consisted in identifying factors determining the level of competency development (including the role of the position held) using regression analysis. Findings: we show that when controlling for other factors senior management cadres (“top executives”) have higher values of intellectual abilities and managerial potential than other job groups, higher scores on social and communication competencies, leadership motivation and perseverance, but lower scores on decision-making speed. The size of an organization is one of the key factors related to the level of competence development in different job groups: on average, managers of large organizations have a higher level of competence development than managers of small organizations. Originality and contribution of the authors: such an assessment of the level of competence development of senior management staff in Russia on a sample of more than several thousand people has been carried out for the first time. The results obtained contribute to the literature on leadership theory and the upper echelons theory and can be used to improve training and professional development programs for top management personnel.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67786131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: the study was conducted using two bibliometric approaches: keyword analysis and co-citation analysis using the Scopus database; also manual coding of 116 documents was used in order to identify “hot topics” and emerging topics (little-studied). Findings: five key areas of research were proposed, dividing the broad topic into narrower and more specific areas; the core of the most authoritative research in the field was proposed, demonstrating the implicit fusion of two disciplines: industrial marketing and innovation management. Originality and contribution of the author: The article presents the first bibliometric analysis of the existing literature in the studied area with a focus on the structural units of the network (actors) at various stages of the innovation process. The study makes a significant contribution to clarifying the interdisciplinary nature of the study of relationships between actors for innovation. The existing and emerging (little-studied) trends in research are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67786523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We find that almost all CEOs in Russia have higher education, that PhD degrees are unusually common, while MBA degrees are relatively rare, that CEOs with different levels of education differ among a number of key socio-demographic characteristics and that the appointment of CEOs with various educational levels is systematically related to firm-level attributes, including ownership and governance structure. In particular, PhD CEOs, who are relatively older, are more likely to have prior connections to government and also tend to be chosen by companies with state ownership, while MBA CEOs, who are relatively younger, are more likely to be chosen by companies with foreign ownership. An important implication is that establishing a causal effect of CEO education on firm behavior and performance requires addressing endogeneity problems caused by potential omitted variables at the CEO level and non-random selection of CEOs by different types of firms. The article outlines several areas for future research.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67785173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research methodology includes modern methods of multi-criterial choice accounting for the preferences of decision makers. The paper provides an up-to-date assessment of actual return policy in e-commerce companies in the Russian Federation, and also proposes a multi-criterial approach to solving the problems of interfunctional and interorganizational interaction when choosing return policy parameters, taking into account legal restrictions and the interests of e-commerce marketplace participants. The practice of implementing the return policy is assessed in this study in view of insufficient high-quality urban warehouses, as well as limited ability to hire new couriers for deliveries on the “last mile” to the customers’ doors. The paper also discusses the prospects for the synthesis of a multicriteria approach and single-criteria optimization models of return flows route network.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67785423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: the use of exploratory factor analysis and ordered logistic regression models. The study is based on publicly available data on non-financial companies from different industries and countries for the period from 2007 to 2021. Findings: a group of financial variables is the most significant in credit risk assessment for companies from developed countries, for emerging markets, macroeconomic variables mostly determine credit ratings instead. The nonfinancial variables have diverse effects, but as a group increase the accuracy of the credit rating assessment. Originality and contribution of the authors: there is limited research on the topic of credit rating assessment of non-financial companies with the inclusion of non-financial factors. In addition, the presented research contributes to the search for new relevant indicators that can be introduced instead of the qualitative variables used by international rating agencies and requiring expert assessment.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67786332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Returnees from developed countries possess high levels of both human and social capital which allow them to contribute to the organizational outcomes of the emerging market firms. Moreover, researchers consider the influx of returnees to developing countries as a solution to the brain drain. Russia is experiencing brain drain as the highly skilled specialists’ outflow from the country exceeds their inflow. However, there is lack of studies examining returnees in the Russian context. Using a sample of 90 returnees from developed countries working in Russia, we found that career opportunities and expectations of high wages in Russia, as well as family reasons have the greatest impact on returnees’ decision to come back to Russia. Talent management practices aimed at attraction, development and retention of returnees, appeared to have a significant influence on the respondents’ decision to return and find employment in a Russian company. At the same time, upon their return, the returnees experienced difficulties in finding a job and a salary adequate to their experience and knowledge. It turns out that companies in Russia do not fully appreciate knowledge and experience that returnees have and the contribution they can make to the development of the company. The research results have both theoretical and practical significance for the development of migration policies and practices at the country and firm levels.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45668514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This disease is the main cause of death for the Russian working-age population, which annually takes tens of thousands of lives and hinders the achievement of such goals of the Russian state policy as preserving the health and well-being of Russian people. The principal elements of the system of HIV/AIDS counteraction are regional AIDS prevention and control centers (AIDS centers), whose improvement of performance is required by the “State Strategy for Counteracting the Spread of the HIV Infection in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020 and beyond”. In this paper, based on the proposed modification of M. Porter’s care delivery value chain model, we demonstrate the ways of enhancing the performance of a regional AIDS center by increasing the value of its services and reducing the costs of their provision due to strengthening the channels of transferring information about HIV/AIDS to the population, improving the accuracy of predicting new registered cases of HIV/AIDS, as well as perfecting public procurement of the necessary medicines and consumables. Our calculations are based on real data of the Perm AIDS center. As a result, relevant recommendations are formulated for the leadership of the Perm AIDS center on the ways of interaction with the population, prediction of new HIV/AIDS cases, and conducting public procurement of drugs and consumables for the needs of the center.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43897611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The board work experience diversity is measured by the diversity index proposed by the authors, as well as by the number of work experience types and categories. Russian boards are characterized by a low level of diversity, directors with work experience in the same company prevail, on the second and third places is the experience in other enterprises in the industry and the experience in the group of related companies. It has been established that there are no prevailing combinations of experience in industrial companies. A positive influence of the directors’ work experience diversity on the increase of companies’ return on capital from 2017 to 2019 was found. The analysis is based on the data from a 2018 survey of industrial managers conducted by the Higher School of Economics.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45447705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each agent’s seeking maximum individual gain leads the collective into a non-efficient Nash equilibrium. To achieve equilibrium in a Pareto-preferable outcome, coordination of efforts is required. In our article, certain members of the collective united by a coalition based on mutual trust coordinate their efforts. We show that under a coalitional strategy aimed at maximizing coalitional gain, individual gains are increased across the collective. However, for each non-cooperated agent the set share in the income still acts as a limiting factor in their choice of invested effort. To increase its efforts further, the coalition offers each noncooperated agent a contract whereby the agent foregoes their share in the income for the benefit of the coalition, in exchange for a reward per their invested effort. As the contract takes effect, the organization undergoes fundamental change consisting in the transformation of a collective of individuals with equal rights into a hierarchical economic organization. We offer a set of models describing such organizational change at the stage of forming the contract and at the subsequent stage of implementation. For the contract formation stage, we identify the conditions under which each agent gains more by entering into the contract than by rejecting it. At the contract implementation stage, we identify the conditions wherein equilibrium values of each agent’s efforts assume their communally-optimal value.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data was collected using a questionnaire based on a brand orientation scale, developed under the circumstances of the Russian market features. The data collected are analyzed using hierarchical and non-hierarchical cluster analysis. As a result of the cluster analysis, a typology of Russian companies-food producers is formed, four clusters are identified, differing in the level of brand orientation and the specifics of brand management activities: 1. high brand orientation, 2. medium brand orientation focused on communication, 3. low brand orientation focused on research, 4. no brand orientation. Each cluster is described by eight parameters that reflect the characteristics of brand management: the focus of the company's brand management activities, brand identity, employees, positioning, brand values, communications, visual identification, and performance evaluation. For each cluster, the features and limitations are identified, which determines the behavior of the companies in the Russian market. The article also defines the marketing features of the Russian food market caused by the introduction of the food embargo, reveals a change in the structure of foreign food suppliers to Russia, as well as a change in the level of competition among companies operating in the Russian market. In addition, the results of the cluster analysis were compared with the data of the TGI Marketing Index, which revealed the correlation between the indicators of brand effectiveness and the level of brand orientation implementation.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67783433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
