Methodology: data from the Russian part of the GEM project were used to test the study hypotheses. The data were gathered in 2021 while the COVID-19 pandemic was still active. Findings: in Russian entrepreneurial businesses, a positive association between entrepreneurs’ sustainability orientation and pertinent activities has been found. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy, on the other hand, has a detrimental impact on the conversion of sustainability intentions into actions. The link between entrepreneurial sustainability attitude and the execution of related activities is also negatively moderated by income-driven motivation. Originality contribution of the authors: this study broadens our understanding of the relationship between socially responsible conduct intentions and implementation of social and ecological obligations.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135107061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author analyzes the applicability of the classical model for determining the optimal delivery lot for perishable raw materials. In the work, the systematization and analysis of existing modifications of the EOQ model and their applicability in various situations is carried out, motives, current trends, and types of modifications of the classical model for determining the optimal delivery lot are determined. The methodology used is a meta-analysis of publications formulating modifications to the EOQ model, considering the short shelf life of the stock; at the next stage, using the morphological method, the regularity of the formation of individual models is deduced. Finally, a numerical example is given. As a result, the key topics of model modifications were identified, trends in the constraints introduced into the model were identified.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kaplina","doi":"10.21638/spbu18.2021.401","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21638/spbu18.2021.401","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors affecting the business climate in the Moscow Region municipalities, to determine the nature of this influence, and on this basis to formulate recommendations for improving the business climate. The concept of “business climate” is treated as a combination of objective and subjective factors that affect entrepreneurial activity in a particular area. Based on the analysis of methods for assessing the business climate and the availability of data, factors such as financial support for small and medium-sized businesses, the level of development of urban infrastructure, the functioning of co-working centers, the difficulty of registering a business, obtaining licenses and permits for activities, the difficulty of paying taxes and finding personnel were selected, as well as a subjective assessment of the level of infrastructure development, the attitude of society towards entrepreneurs. In accordance with the results obtained, the level of development of urban infrastructure and the ease of registering a business make the entrepreneurial climate of the municipality more favorable and have a significant positive impact on entrepreneurial activity. According to the results of the survey, it can be concluded that the greatest difficulty for entrepreneurs is the search for personnel with the necessary qualifications. The number of coworking centers does not have a statistically significant impact on the level of entrepreneurial activity. The results obtained largely consistent with the findings of other studies. Thus, in order to improve the business climate, it is important to develop the urban environment, as well as to simplify the procedure for registering a business. It is recommended to hold more events (for example, job fairs in educational institutions) that will help entrepreneurs find qualified specialists, organize special programs for advanced training and retraining of personnel. In addition, it is recommended to expand the list of factors taken into account to assess the business climate in the Moscow Region and include the attitude of society towards entrepreneurs, as well as the level of development of urban infrastructure and the ease of business registration.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67784576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this article is to study the perception of MI antecedents by employees of Russian large private companies of chemical and oil & gas industries. Methodology: the theoretical part of the research is presented by bibliographic analysis of 265 Russian and international scientific sources. The empirical basis of the research consists of the survey of 252 employees from 8 Russian large private companies, representing chemical and oil-&-gas industries, and semi-structured interviews with 12 top-managers of these companies. Findings: the authors of this article proposed multilevel approach for description of managerial innovations antecedents based on the results of theoretical part of the research. Within proposed framework three most significant antecedents had been highlighted: MI companies’ values and employees’ KPI fit; involvement of employees in the process of MI implementation; interaction of an organization with the external environment. The data obtained during the empirical part of the research provided the basis for development of practical tool — “Model of Managerial innovations antecedents’ perception”. This model consists of 17 practical recommendations for each of the three multilevel antecedents for implementation of management innovations. Originality and contribution: proposed multilevel approach for description of managerial innovations antecedents allows fill the research gap in theoretical basis of scientific sources covering the issue of managerial innovations. Using “Model of Managerial innovations antecedents’ perception” will provide control and predictability of the process of managerial innovations implementation in large private Russian companies of chemical and oil-&-gas industry.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67785521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: the methodological tool applied in this study is an econometric analysis of panel data for 48 Russian non-financial public companies with ESG score provided by Thomson Reuters Eikon in the period from 2015 to 2020. Findings: we have found a non-linear impact of board size on ESG performance, and significant positive impact of board independence on both ESG performance and firm market value. We also find that higher board gender diversity leads to higher corporate ESG score and market value, while higher share of foreign directors does not affect significantly these indicators of performance of Russian companies. Board sustainability committee enhances both corporate ESG performance and market value, board strategy committee contributes to ESG score’s increase as well. Originality and contribution of the authors: our study contributes to the development of academic literature devoted to corporate governance effects on firm’s performance on understudied market, in the context of growing demand for corporate sustainability. Application of our findings will allow to formulate the best practices of corporate governance for market value creation of Russian companies basing on ESG principles.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67786116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methodology: the object of research are Russian public non-financial companies that prepare financial statements under International Financial Reporting Standards. The period of observation is from 2011 to 2020. The main method of research is panel-data regression analysis. Corporate profitability was assessed via return on assets adjusted for the industry median. Earnings management was measured with the binary variables that were assigned a value of “1” if the level of real or accrualbased earnings management for any firm-year was higher than the selected threshold. The effect on profitability was tested not only for the year next to the one when earnings manipulation occurred, but also for two and three years thereafter. Findings: results showed that real earnings management negatively influences next year profitability. However, no conclusion was made regarding accrual-based earnings management, since the results obtained were not robust to the selection of different thresholds. Companies that displayed higher levels of both accrual-based and real earnings management showed no significant difference in subsequent profitability compared with companies that display lower levels of both accrual-based and real earnings management. Originality and contribution of the authors: this research is the first study to investigate the association between earnings management and corporate profitability of Russian companies. Moreover, the paper provided additional evidence to the opportunistic view on earnings management, at least in regards to real earnings management. From the practical standpoint, the results obtained might be helpful for internal stakeholders of a company such as management and board members as well its external stakeholders. Managers are advised to consider that utilizing real earnings management might have deferred implications and negatively impact the next year company’s profitability. Board members can be given a recommendation to tighten oversight in relation to real earnings management practices. External stakeholders, e.g., current and potential investors, might also take into account potential effects of earnings management on profitability in course of their investment decisions.","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67786314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chepurenko","doi":"10.21638/spbu18.2022.202","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21638/spbu18.2022.202","url":null,"abstract":"Goal: this article analyzes the impact of a number of factors of a different nature on the financial and economic “resilience” of the business of Russian small entrepreneurs during the period of external shocks (Pandemic, situation across Ukraine). Methodology: the empirical base of the papers consist of the data of five waves of small business longitudinal study (initial number — 750 people), implemented in 2021–2022 by the Foundation “Public Opinion”. To analyze the panel data, multinomial logistical regression with fixed effects was chosen (FE-model). Findings: the article shows that: the age of the business is not a significant factor that can explain the resilience of the business reaction to external shocks; the larger the market, the higher the likelihood that the business will either be sustainably developing even during shocks, or will perform resiliently under external shocks; opportunity driven motivation is more likely to promote resilience than necessity driven motivation, and is more often typical for entrepreneurs whose businesses are even growing under external shocks; the use of innovations does not lead to business resilience under external shocks — at least on the materials of the available panel of respondents. Originality and contribution: the paper’s contribution to the existing literature consists of following. First, it is the first attempt to differentiate several factors which presumably might affect SMEs resilient reaction on external shocks taking the dynamics of their behavior, but not basing on the data of a one-time study. It came out that neither the age of business, nor the use of innovative solutions have any prolonged impact on it. Moreover, the share of resilient businesses led by entrepreneurs driven by the opportunity to increase their income is similar to those necessity driven entrepreneurs, while IDO entrepreneurs it is much higher. The finding that the volume of the market is positively connected with the resilience during shocks confirms the importance of studying the effects of the volume of businesses’ operations on its stable performance. The limitation of the study is as a relatively short period of observation (July 2021 — July 2022).","PeriodicalId":41639,"journal":{"name":"Rossiiskii Zhurnal Menedzhmenta-Russian Management Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67785352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The division of managerial information into historical and geographical ones, reflecting, respectively, the movement of the system in time and space, has been substantiated. The role of these types of information in the management of economic organizations, including enterprises, has been revealed. Goal: determination of interaction mechanisms of basic subsystems of the economic system (object, process, project and environment subsystems) during the functioning of the system. Methodology: application of methods of spatio-temporal system analysis and the theory of tetrads for determining the routes of movement of historical and geographical information in order to manage the functioning of an economic organization. Findings: the mechanisms of generation, storage, use and dissemination of historical and geographical information between the components of the tetrad as a structural and functional model of the economic system have been identified. The results of the analysis have been formulated in the form of requirements for the system management of industrial enterprises.
