The Finite Element Method was used for fatigue analysis in the study. Finite Element Method was implemented with Ansys Workbench (15.0) program. Al 6063 type aluminum pipe, DP-460 type adhesive and [0/90]2 reinforced angled glass-epoxy composite patch material were used in the analyzes. As a result of the numerical study, it was observed that patch size is an effective parameter in fatigue strength and that quarter- circle and semi-circular composite patches increase the fatigue life. Bayar","doi":"10.36222/ejt.708805","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.36222/ejt.708805","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents a powerful processing technique for fast and energy-efficient image filtering algorithm focusing energy and time-sensitive embedded and robotic platforms. Digital video processing is getting more and more popular in battery-powered devices like mobile robots and smartphones whereas in most cases, it leads overhead on the main central processing unit (CPU) and it consumes a significant amount of energy from the battery. It is suitable for parallelism since there is no data dependency between the steps of the two-dimensional convolution algorithm. We propose a vector version of the two-dimensional convolution algorithm, which can run parallel on embedded processors that has general purpose graphic processing unit (GPGPU), to reduce computation time and energy consumption. Our in-depth experiments shows that using GPGPU could reduce the execution time while guaranteeing lower power consumption and offloading the system CPU. Experimental results showed that we achieved up to 105 times faster operation and 100 times less energy consumption compared to the CPU implementation. First, the Matlab/Simulink model of the inverter was created. In this model, an RL load of R=10Ω and L=0.005 H was fed and various simulations were made. The simulation results were obtained using 3 step switching technique for different conduction modes. {"title":"DETERMINATION OF EMOTIONAL STATUS FROM EEG TIME SERIES BY USING EMD BASED LOCAL BINARY PATTERN METHOD","authors":"Ömer Türk","doi":"10.36222/ejt.807971","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.36222/ejt.807971","url":null,"abstract":"Although determining emotional states from brain dynamics has been a subject that has been studied for a long time, the desired level has not been reached yet. In this study, Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based Local Binary Pattern (LBP) method is proposed for emotional determination using (positive-neutral-negative) Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Thanks to this method, a hybrid structure was created in obtaining features from EEG signals. In the study, Seed EEG dataset containing 15 positive subjects and positive-neutral-negative emotional state is used. In the study, classification is utilized with the basis of individuals by using 27 EEG channels in the left hemisphere of each subject. Level 5 was separated by applying EMD to EEG segments containing three emotional states. Features were obtained from the Intrinsic mode function (IMF) using LBP method. These features are classified with k Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The average classification accuracy for 15 participants was 83.77% using the k-NN classifier and 84.50% with the ANN classifier. In addition, the highest classification performance was found to be 96.75% with the k-NN classifier.
