The first is a controller tuning method and the second is a control algorithm, both based only on the data collected from the process. In this paper, a new strategy that improves the MFC control law performance with the IFT algorithm is proposed. To tune the MFC controller parameters, several signals are collected from the process, and an iterative procedure is started. The objective of the tuning procedure is to minimize a criterion that leads to a new set of parameters for the MFC algorithm. The proposed algorithm is tested in a speed control application on an internal combustion engine with a complex model. The results obtained with the intelligent P(iP)-IFT algorithm are compared with PI and iP control laws to analyze the impact of IFT on the iP control loop.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122192938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water hammer is generated by complete turbine shutdown and is tackled under two model idealizations - negligible dynamic heads and negligible distributed Darcy-Weisbach losses. The main result is Lyapunov stability in the sense of the metrics induced by the Lyapunov functional suggested by the energy identity. For the application of the Barbashin-Krasovskii-LaSalle invariance principle, the systems turn to be in critical cases (spectral radius of the difference operator equal to 1, a hidden invariant set).","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114739135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This WWTP can be viewed as the interconnection of multiple unit operations. We start by deriving the dynamical models of the wastewater treatment units on the basis of mass balances and inspired from the activated sludge model (ASM) of the IWA. The model is then used to design a centralized controller with the objective to meet the wastewater European directives constraints. The identification of the model parameters and the controller design are based on two years of data collected at SAV. The centralized controller has been tuned and evaluated with three scenarios that consider dry, rainy and stormy weathers. The results show that WWTP performance are improved by 50 percent in dry weather (10 percent in the rain) while observing new European water policies and reducing the need and costs in reactants. The model definition and problem formulation allow to account for more complex phenomena in the future.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121744315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we propose a mathematical formulation designed as a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem that couples the two mentioned topics. This optimization problem provides an optimal solution for a problem where multiple drones have to individually paint some regions of interest. Several constraints were defined based on energy and paint consumption, while the cost function is based on the time for completing the painting task. For the proposed solution, the impact of number of drones, number of regions of interest and the size of the graph modelling the environment, is asserted and visualized through numerical simulations.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116634985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The volume segmentation is a challenging task due to the poor quality of DTI brain images. This paper aims to evaluate the efficacy of the spatial statistical Maximum (Max) and Minimum (Min) filters in the construction of 3D brain MRI images. These well-known simple filters were used to analyze the 3D image construction together with noise removal techniques operated by them. Using these semi-processed images, a binarization operation has been applied and a similarity investigation was performed using the Dice score. A dataset of 2D processing images is used for the construction of the 3D images by means of the volume imaging technique. The effectiveness of the 3D construction imaging algorithm was investigated through the mean of the volume computation. 3D volume measurements were performed using ImageJ and a real-time database of brain MRI images that contains image stacks from both healthy and ischemic stroke patients. The Minimum filter provides the best results by keeping the image characteristics and local geometries.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"64 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128019656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a complex process where two connecting shafts work in tandem with alternating burning and regeneration cycles that improve the calcination efficiency in contrast with single shaft and rotary technologies. Over a metallic and wide enough mesh ground plane, the three-quarter wavelength element outperforms the widely used quarter wavelength antenna configuration at medium elevation angles and at low elevations has equal, including a better gain. The antenna array has been designed and developed for the satellite frequency band between 420 and 440 MHz, allocated to multiple applications. The comparison between the two configurations, the results of the simulations and experimental measurements are presented in this paper emphasizing the advantages of the developed array.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126882434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We are particularly interested in its potential application to driving simulation. Driving simulators are electro-mechanical structures that reproduce the environment of a driver (steering wheel, pedals, seat, road displayed on a screen,…) and are able to move within a restricted safe area on purpose to reproduce the driver’s feelings and particularly the acceleration ones through the inner ear. Those movements are controlled by the Motion Cueing Algorithm (MCA) which consists in a Model-based Predictive Controller (MPC) converting in closed loop the expected acceleration to displacements all by observing the physical constraints. Its design is realized in a way to minimize the difference between effective felt acceleration and the expected one. In this application context, the movements inertia and communication protocols may induce delays between the computation block of the controller and the response that lead to serious discomforts of the humans in the simulators, known under the Motion Sickness symptoms. In the present paper, we revisit the control formulation for this motion cueing algorithm in a control perspective and propose a control strategy that compensates the delays in way to satisfy real-time constraints during implementation in a simple yet effective manner. The performance and limitation of a such strategy are discussed to raise the awareness on the design trade-off and decisions.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125222607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can be addressed following feedback approach, where a management feedback loop, in response to monitored information in the systems, based on analysis of this data, decides to activate system-level or application-level adaptation mechanisms. One such regulation problem is found in the context of CiGri, a lightweight computing grid system which exploits the unused resources of a set of computing clusters. The computing power left over by the execution of premium cluster users’ HPC applications, is used to execute smaller jobs, which are injected as much as the global system allows.The feedback loop which we design has to regulate this injection of jobs in such a way as to avoid overloading of the distributed file system (or file-server), which would be detrimental to the main performance, while self-adapting to variations in load in order to make the best use of available resources. We put in place a mechanism for feedback control in system software by controlling the number of jobs to be sent to the cluster in response to system information about the current number of processed jobs and the file-server load, which has a significant impact of the performance of the priority users jobs. We perform experimental validation by comparing several control solutions.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127228984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A typical problem when analyzing such data is the identification of meaningful features. The challenge is to find relationships and correlations within the data that produce feature vectors which are robust to noise, acquisition errors, geometric transformations, or to other distortions. To this end, we propose a feature extraction technique that is based on the empirical distribution of shape variance as a fundamental criterion for analyzing and clustering the originating data. We apply the method to an image dataset consisting in fingerprints from multiple users, and show that a description of the fingerprint profile based on the variance of ridge flexion provides robust features with applicability in identification and pattern matching problems. We evaluate the extracted features using k-means clustering, by matching the generated clusters with the distribution of data labels. The features are obtained in an unsupervised manner and allow accurate matching of the data instances while exhibiting robustness to geometric transformations.","PeriodicalId":413433,"journal":{"name":"2021 25th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128205049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
