Dai, Changqin Chen","doi":"10.1109/SSLCHINA.2016.7804343","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SSLCHINA.2016.7804343","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, the characteristics of ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UV-LEDs) operated at 395 nm, such as the improvement of light output power and thermal resistance control were investigated. The advanced package method fabricated with eutectic flip-chip package and silicone bonding quartz lenses was presented to meet the optical and thermal demands of UV-LEDs. The optical and thermal performance of different UV-LED devices was evaluated and compared by measuring the light output power, thermal resistance and junction temperature. It was found that the bonding thermal resistance of eutectic device with silicone bonding quartz lens was lower than soldering device by 4.8 K/W, contributing a junction temperature reduction by 17.8 °C at 800 mA. It was also obtained that the light output power of eutectic device with silicone bonding quartz lens dramatically enhance up to 73.4% at 1500 mA, compared with the soldering device. In recent years, graphene has attracted a large amount of interest because of its outstanding electric conductivity, ultrahigh thermal conductivity and large specific surface area. Therefore, if graphene films are used as heat sink, heat will diffuse through graphene surface at breakneck speeds, solving the heat accumulation problem of the device. In this work, we simulate the heat dissipation effect of the device with graphene films or without graphene films. The tested ambient illumination included 120Hz full modulated LED light source, normal fluorescent light source and dark environment. And the tested display type included 2D and 3D based on shutter glasses. Visual fatigue was measured with subjective ratings (12 symptoms, considering general discomfort and eye fatigue) and ophthalmological parameters (CFF, NRA, PRA, NPA, NPC) both before and after watching 90-minutes' movies. Results showed that, generally, both subjective ratings and ophthalmological parameters indicated significant visual fatigue after watching movies. Concerning to the effect of ambient light source, only subjective ratings reflected more visual fatigue when watching 2D movies under dark environment compared to the illuminated environment. Lighting plays a critical role in attracting customers, driving their buying experience and increasing the chances they will return again. Lighting sets the mood. Boeing recently implemented a mellow blue tone in the interior of their airplanes with great success. Color sensing is required for color accuracy, which is made possible with PoE/LoE digital control, covering the RGB color spectrum of visible light. This paper explores a few examples to illustrate the value proposition in a retail stores, restaurants, transportation, in addition to the colors used in corporate branding. In a retail setting, lighting contributes to the identity of the business, the comfort of the customers, and the mood of employees. Intelligent lighting can also be used in tandem with security cameras and emergency lighting for increased safety and theft prevention. A store can transform the retail shopping experience for their customers with controlled solid state lighting. Color is deeply integrated with our perceptions, psychology, decision making, mood, alertness, state of relaxation and enjoyment of our daily experience.
