The tested ambient illumination included 120Hz full modulated LED light source, normal fluorescent light source and dark environment. And the tested display type included 2D and 3D based on shutter glasses. Visual fatigue was measured with subjective ratings (12 symptoms, considering general discomfort and eye fatigue) and ophthalmological parameters (CFF, NRA, PRA, NPA, NPC) both before and after watching 90-minutes' movies. Results showed that, generally, both subjective ratings and ophthalmological parameters indicated significant visual fatigue after watching movies. Concerning to the effect of ambient light source, only subjective ratings reflected more visual fatigue when watching 2D movies under dark environment compared to the illuminated environment.
