The code implementation of these control laws presents a validation challenge due to the complexity of converting mathematical control equations, feed forward and feedback loops into validated software. This paper outlines an approach for defining specifications of a control law using focus framework. A discrete time synchronous control law consisting of gain scheduler, feedback, adder, integrator and derivative is defined in focus specifications. A methodology is presented wherein the top-level architecture is defined using composite graphical, constraint and operator styles. Sub components are specified in elementary equational and relational styles. These theoretical specifications are implemented and verified using Autofocus tool.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131142193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, data processing and their flow through organization we can put in information systems. For laboratory environment, we can have the same in that point of view. The reason is not only to control workflow. Collected data are usually stored in both digital or written form but only centrally administrated can bring maximal gain. Effectiveness is done by a system which fully corresponds with company requirements. To choose an appropriate information system is not a short period task and is necessary to understand procedures as well as program creating process. To find a suitable solution for common campus laboratory management lead us to process described in this paper.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131662981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper described the characterization of in-house Reference Electrode (RE) using green colour electrolyte as a medium. The in-house RE was tested with few subjects such as commercial RE, in-house Nitrate Sensor, and in-house pH sensor. The study is focusing on the effect and stability of colour electrolyte using in RE. The result shows In-house reference electrode with coloured electrolyte performed a very stable output. Total of 3 experiment done shows the RE are able to detect different pH (buffer solution) and provide a good slope R2near to 1. Furthermore, the field testing shows the colour electrolyte able to improve the voltage reading and minimize drift effect.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121425943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DCs are therefore fast becoming high consumer of electrical energy. Heavy computing loads on servers in DC lead to high heat dissipation that eventually amplifies the cooling demand in DC. High heat with inadequate cooling could lead to more frequent system failures thereby more jobs in DC to miss their job completion deadlines. Unfortunately, the conventional DC job scheduling approaches do not provide compensation to the resource users on their jobs that missed the deadlines. The absence of compensation may dissuade users from submitting jobs to the DCs. The energy consumed for cooling in DC dominates about one third of total DC energy consumption. While free air cooling strategy is used elsewhere, it is not generally applicable in tropical countries such as that in Malaysia. A constant artificial cooling (air conditioning) is needed to sustain the DC operation. To solve this issue in the tropical region, incentive-based scheduling algorithms were devised to significantly reduce the electricity consumption cost in DC and also to be able to compensate users (as an incentive) for their submitted jobs that missed the job completion deadline(s). Ultimately, the proposed job scheduling approach is aimed to produce green DCs.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129579642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clustering is a significant method to increase energy efficiency and network lifetime of WSN. The identical clusters near to the sink form a part of fixed path towards the sink and hence may waste more energy resulting in hot spot problem. In applications like continuous monitoring, usage of static sink, makes the situation more critical as the nodes far away from sink continuously transmits data. A combination of unequal clustering algorithm and mobile sink can solve hot spot problem. But while using mobile sink, we need to consider its feasibility to be used in inaccessible areas as well as the delay constraints which plays a dynamic role in continuous monitoring applications. In this paper we propose an Energy Aware Unequal Clustering algorithm using a static sink and mobile sink. The paper suggests smaller size clusters around static sink and the entire clusters in the network transmit their data only to their nearest static or mobile sink. Simulation results confirm that EAUC-DUAL outperforms LEACH with static sink and LEACH with dual sink in terms of network lifetime and energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121387916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because relational database offers reliability, simple indexing to organize data and maintaining data integrity by setting up defined constraints. Over the years, researchers developed a more versatile way of handling the data by using XML technology. Flexibility and ability to transform data into other formats without any loss of data attracts the researcher and community to propose various mapping approaches to transform XML into relational database. Applied in different courses and subjects they foster computational thinking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. Furthermore, sharing the outcomes promote the development of an open mindset and teaches the principles of open source. In our work, we present Pocket Code, a mobile open source visual coding framework. We describe how this integrated development environment enables young users to program apps in a block-based manner directly on their mobile devices. We discuss how teenagers can share their projects via the app's sharing platform or as an Android application package file. The presented case illustrates how teenagers can collaboratively drive co-creative communities and foster open source and innovation by creating and sharing mobile apps.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132601287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to retrieve these voluminous data in a quick and efficient manner. Using search engine indexing capabilities gives the user a low-latency query towards the data. But often to set up and maintain such an infrastructure is complex and hard to maintain. In this paper, we discuss the challenges and requirement to host a search engine as a service. We take the requirement based on labs and department requirements. We propose a framework to host search engine on top of private cloud deployment. It uses a mixture of containerization and virtualization for faster deployment and easy maintenance.","PeriodicalId":412535,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131351209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
