With DTC, the time-to-digital converter's (TDC) requirements are relaxed, not only for its range but also for its nonlinearity. However, the shortened TDC range, which is less than one digital controlled oscillator (DCO) output period in the new architecture makes the settling time longer and the TDC gain calibration difficult. This work introduces a technique to extend the TDC range by 16 times to accelerate the settling process, while the extended part can be disabled when ADPLL is in lock. Furthermore, the TDC gain calibration is easier.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123234627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typical approaches achieve integration by shifting the needed complexity to the automation or management layer. In contrast, this paper focuses on leaving the complexity at the field level to provide a homogeneous view to upper layers without compromising reliability. Therefore, a gateway device architecture is advised which enables the seamless integration and communication between field level protocols of building automation networks. The necessary translation between field level protocols is done by utilizing a stateful solution incorporating a unifying information model. The reliability aspect is achieved by combining several gateway devices into a redundant compound.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124401630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The global reset of neurons can be programmed to occur after the first n spikes or after a given time-out to the first occurrence of either of these two conditions. This solution does not require any modifications inside the array of the artificial neurons, but uses only a few additional blocks in the periphery. Like the AER communication, the additional blocks also operate asynchronously, they are fully integrated with the AER communication periphery, and they do not affect the system's scalability. The extensions of the AER arbitration system are described, and supporting simulations are provided.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129769819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a knowledge base compromises all life-style experiences and intelligent buildings. Accordingly, management decisions and control can be performed. To achieve the goal, an online learning algorithm is used which is designed to catch knowledge and generate rules from environmental sensing data and actuators states. Rules are fed to the system as fuzzified events. Applying such a learning approach to maintain the knowledge base, abstracts the complicated coordination between human, infrastructure components and static structures such as building floorplan and architecture.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129652558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The “simulated bee” was equipped with: a minimalistic compound eye comprising 10 local motion sensors measuring the optic flow magnitude; two optic flow regulators updating the control signals whenever specific optic flow criteria changed; and three event-based controllers taking into account the error signals, each one in charge of its own translational dynamics. A MORSE/Blender based simulator-engine delivered what each of 20 “simulated photoreceptors” saw in the tunnel lined with high resolution natural 2D images. The “simulated bee” managed to travel safely along the doubly tapering tunnel without requiring any speed or distance measurements, using only a Gibsonian point of view, by: concomitantly adjusting the side thrust, vertical lift and forward thrust whenever a change was detected on the optic flow-based signal errors; avoiding collisions with the surface of the doubly tapering tunnel and decreasing or increasing its speed, depending on the clutter rate perceived by motion sensors.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133269341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, we present a procedure that selects an appropriate delta value for a given mean transmission rate. Signals are then sampled using the send-on-delta strategy with the selected delta value. The amount of sent messages will be higher in time intervals where the signal changes fast, and lower in time intervals where the signal changes slow, but maintaining the mean transmission rate and reducing, if possible, the sampling error. The procedure has been implemented for two error-based send-on-delta strategies, and tested on three step response signals. Results show that the proposed procedure decreases significantly the sampling error compared to a conformant periodic transmission strategy.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133419220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is also an attempt on discussion about the possibility of construction and implementation of flexible, compact and modular inverters as a part of modern power systems in various technological devices and processes. Based on the example of the constructed model of an inverter and obtained results of the measurements, an effort has been made to assess its performance and efficiency. The paper contains also a brief analysis of work and basic relationships in the inverter, the concept of control, conceptual design and discussion on difficulties encountered during its implementation.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115225613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From 7 to 10 billion of connected devices in 2013, it is expected to reach 26 to 30 billion in 2020. Smart buildings represent between 2 to 21% of this market. Indeed, the possibility of connecting objects changes the paradigms of measurement, monitoring and management within the building. This paper presents a miniaturized event-driven low power electronics device dedicated to electrical loads in the context of energy management and optimization systems. An electronic device for distributed intelligence is proposed. It is designed and intended to be added in the path of the power supply of existing electrical appliances. This device helps, as well, to perform local processing of measured data in order to provide a dedicated and optimized control of the connected load.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121990644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It investigates hybrid event-based control systems where the event-based part of the controller affects a continuous control loop. Its task is to adjust the operating point of this control loop to changing operation modes of the overall system. The paper introduces a control input generator into the event-based path of the system and presents a method for its design. The main aim is to compensate undesirable switching effects of the event-based part on the continuous control loop. The main result of the paper is a set of conditions ensuring that the overall system is stable, asymptotically tracks a piecewise constant reference signal and is robust with respect to model uncertainties and disturbances.","PeriodicalId":411767,"journal":{"name":"2016 Second International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing (EBCCSP)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124631253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
