Image quality has become a great factor in underwater image analysis. Noticeable challenges are limited source of natural lighting, loss of colour underwater at depth, magnification of objects underwater and much more. These factors may affect the process of estimating the actual corroded area underwater. Due to that, this work is proposing a technique to recognize underwater corrosion based on colour illumination mapping.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"622 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122694674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice, the SIA technique uses the advantage of a 2D soft-output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) detector to improve the reliability of the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) before deciding the estimated user bits. To further improve its performance, this paper proposes a novel SIA scheme by exploiting the advantage of the 2D SOYA detector to improve the LLR reliability of the estimated data bits for the considered upper- and lower-track in four-head/two-track (4H/2T) bit-patterned magnetic recording system. The simulation results indicate that the proposed system can deliver a better BER performance over the conventional SIA system, in particular when the system experiences media noise.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128372050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The realization of the proposed technique is based on the use of the hyperbolic sine (sinh) function of the electronics circuit. The designed circuit comprises inexpensive commercial devices such as operational amplifiers and a small number of passive elements. Moreover, the proposed technique provides excellent performance without modifying the LVDT structure. The simulation results demonstrate the performance of LVDT linearity range, with the linearity errors below 3.5%. The simulation results are carried out to confirm the excellent performances and low cost.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126253786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With sports analytics gaining popularity due to its capability in providing valuable information for players and coaches to counter opponents with tactics, some recent research works attempted to perform stroke recognition. However, there has been little research into using stroke sequences for sports analytics. In this paper, we propose a player-independent framework to investigate the relationship between strokes and rally outcome in badminton games. To classify the rally outcome, strokes are represented by deep features extracted using CNN and fitted into LSTM. Experiments with various variants of GRU and LSTM models demonstrate that Bidirectional LSTM gives the best prediction performance, with ResNet-18 as the feature extractor. Additional experiments were performed to study different features that represent the stroke as plain text and player's pose, as well as methods to augment a small sequential dataset.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"297 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132617821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the soft information or log-likelihood ratios (LLRs) obtained from the soft-output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA), we propose to use a multilayer perceptron (MLP), where three different patterns of the obtained soft information are employed as input data of MLP neural network in the training process under the coded recording system, while the recorded bit data sequences are fixed as a target data bit sequence. When compared to magnetic recording systems based on the partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) technique in both one and two-dimensional signal processing systems, the proposed recording system performs better in terms of bit error rate (BER), according to the results of computer simulation experiments.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132809855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, there has been a rising interest in increasing video analytics and video surveillance to enhance the safety and security of pilgrims throughout their stay in Mecca. Crowd surveillance research and development are still in their infancy. Real-time monitoring of crowds is impeded by a lack of distinct crowd scenes or the high intensity of the crowd, which reduces its use. This paper proposed a fully convolutional neural network (FCNN) method for large crowd analysis, and it is able to classify the three classes of crowd density. This is intended to overcome existing technical challenges in video analysis in situations involving the circulation of a large number of pilgrims at a density of seven to eight per square meter. This endeavor intends to build a new dataset based on the Hajj scenario, in part to overcome the aforementioned difficulty. Manual and semi-automatic approaches are now used for video analysis, notably during Hajj. However, it is vital to automatically monitor pilgrim crowd events. Integrating FCNN classification with FCNN regression requires a strategy that is more powerful than the direct approach. Using ResNet50 and Fully Convolutional Neural Networks, a deep learning architecture is constructed to predict the density of certain crowd footage (FCNNs). The new dataset (Hajj-Crowd dataset) and using the recommended strategy, our solution obtained 100 % accuracy in crowd analysis, exceeding the state-of-the-art technology. In addition, the ResNet50 method achieved an accuracy of 98.6% for the developed crowd dataset.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132169255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The repercussions of global climate change are becoming increasingly evident, which led to climate change being named the “greatest global health threat of the twenty-first century.” As a result, the international community established an ambitious plan for going green, promoting human development, and preserving the biosphere by adopting the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, international cooperation efforts have been increasingly put forward. This paper presents ways in which the Internet of Things could benefit the current efforts toward climate change mitigation endeavors. We discuss state-of-the-art projects that have been established worldwide to use recent advancements in 5G/6G technologies and IoT to monitor, model, and combat the impacts of global climate change on agriculture, water resources depletion, and coastal erosion.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133733350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has given rise to the field of explainable AI (XAI) where techniques are being developed to explain AI algorithms. One such technique is called Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME). LIME is popular because it is modelagnostic and works well with text, tabular and image data. While it has some good features, there are still room for improvements towards the original LIME algorithm especially it's stability. In this work, the LIME stability is being reviewed and three different approaches were investigated for its effectiveness in stability improvement which are; 1) using high sample size for stable ordering, 2) using an averaging method to reduce region flipping; and 3) to evaluate different super-pixels segmentation algorithms in generating stable LIME outcome. The experiment results shows a definite increase in the stability of the improved LIME compared to the baseline LIME and thus the reliability of using it practically.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124361244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A great deal of works have improved the performance of IQA algorithms, however, the existing classical Visual Information Fidelity (VIF) algorithm has minor limitations: at low scales, fidelity information of images is under-extracted; the variation of perceptual noise of Human Visual System (HVS) with scale is not fully taken into account. In response, this paper proposes an improved VIF-Multiple Levels Perceptual Noise Backed Visual Information Fidelity (MPNVIF), which optimizes the internal algorithm of image information extraction and utilizes multiple levels perceptual noise to enhance the evaluation performance of VIF. Finally, we perform a comparison experiment of MPNVIF algorithm, VIF algorithm and some other objective IQA algorithms on the Industrial Scene Image Database (ISID) database. The results show that compared to related algorithms, the MPNVIF proposed in our paper has better performance on the ISID database.","PeriodicalId":410603,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116166093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
