The string of poems is narrated by women in times of war, sickness, adultery, cruelty and aggression. The poems are told by women from an unconventional perspective. The traumas of the characters are persistent and cannot be overcome in a lifetime, thus they are “dealt with” after their death. This way Terék touches upon a key element of feminist criticism, “the art of dying”. Suicide appears as a solution, as well as something natural and an act of free choice. Another topics that emerge in the poems are matrophobia, adultery, identity, patriarchal relations. {"title":"Dialectal Features of the Popular Novel Barlaam and Josaphat","authors":"Maria Stanciu Istrate","doi":"10.60133/pj.2023.1.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.60133/pj.2023.1.10","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of my research is drawing attention to the linguistic characteristics of Romanian manuscript 588 from the Library of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest. The manuscript contains the oldest known copy of the translation of Barlaam and Josaphat made by Udriște Năsturel in 1648. It does not contain any information about the scribe of this particular text. The manuscript predominantly exhibits phonetic features specific to the norm of the southern or Wallachian variant: protonic [ă] > [a] (pahar), the anticipation of the palatal element in the following syllable (câinele, mâine, pâine), [î] > [u] through assimilation (să umblu, se umplu), the soft pronounciation of the labials [p], [b], [m] and labiodentals [f], [v] in strong position (trupească, iubesc, merg, sfeatnic, veșmânt), the hard pronunciation of [d] (dăstul, dălunga, dăstoinic), [dz] > [z] (boteza, Dumnezeu, ziuă), [ǧ] ˃ [j] (ajutor, joc, județ) etc. In addition to phonetic features specific to the southern area, which are due to the translator, the manuscript under investigation presents some peculiarities that point to Oltenia and the western part of Muntenia, reflecting the dialect spoken by the scribe: the change of [ă] protonic to [a] in the words sarac and vrajimașului, the hard pronunciation of [ș] in așâjderea, and the preservation of the diphthong […a] in a stressed medial position as seen in examples such as întunearec, nădeajde and putearea.","PeriodicalId":41055,"journal":{"name":"Philologica Jassyensia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49451831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The comparative analysis of data collected by the Linguistic and Ethnographic Atlas of Italy and Southern Switzerland and the Italian Linguistic Atlas reveals a fair variety of expressions which in most cases are distributed in continuous and homogeneous areas. Generally, according to the main denomination models that distinguish the parts of the human body, these nouns are the result of redetermination processes or metaphorical associations, especially with the plant world. The study problematizes a unifying perspective by simplifying, reducing the field of poetical experiences to a patriotic dominant feature. Considering the perspective from a distance, outside the Bessarabian literary space, as well as from the inside, we notice the way that a poet chooses one or several models no matter the space and its matrix, his mother tongue and the time frame he lives in. {"title":"Schizanaliză și interpretare (I). „Semnificantul despotic”","authors":"Laurențiu Hanganu","doi":"10.60133/pj.2023.1.13","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.60133/pj.2023.1.13","url":null,"abstract":"Named by its authors “schizoanalysis”, the critique of interpretation developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari in Anti-Oedipus (1972) and A Thousand Plateaus (1980) – the two volumes of their work Capitalism and Schizophrenia – is a radical one. Exposed as a dead-end street, that only keeps thought trapped in the tyrannical circle of the “Signifier”, the interpretation, as the privileged expression of semiology – point out Deleuze and Guattari – corresponds to the “overcoding” made by the despotic political assemblage, which consists in the abolition of the old clanic-territorial relationships and the centralization of all social codes, followed by their subordination to a unique code, mirrored by the solar symbolism of the sovereign's power. In the same way as the imperial-despotic \"social machine\", which proclaims a transcendent unity as the absolute center of existence, the signifying semiotics – explain Deleuze and Guattari – is structured by removing out of the chain of signs a privileged object (“the despotic signifier”), which, in creating the illusion of a transcendence to which all the signs converge and from which all the signs seem to come, destroys the pre-signifying territorial semiotics through linearization and homogenization. Consequently, the interpretation is inevitably encumbered by all the shortcomings of the significant regime of signs: that is, above all, the rigid linearity of the system, in the perspective of which any deviation, as well as any tendency of detachment, diffusion or dispersion, appear, apriorically, as unjustified divisiveness, unnecessary detours and fateful dead ends. The “superliniarity” of semiology causes the interpretation to eliminate any autonomous “growth”, to devalue any heterogeneity, and to consider any attempt to exit the system as counterproductive and “meaningless”. At the same time, the process and the guiding vectors of interpretation are always aimed at a synthetic, hierarchical and systematizing approach, thus responding to the imperative of the despotic “machine” to appropriate all resources and to subordinate all the codes. The interpretative act is one of “overcoding”, whose semiotic-discursive function is to (re)order all signs, as well as all the judgments and arguments, according to a “central idea”, which is nothing but a representation, a projection of the “despotic signifier”. The argumentation of Deleuze and Guattari denounces interpretative thinking, be it traditional or modern, as being not only an instrument of the imperial-despotic “social machine”, but, moreover, as a faithful mirror of the state apparatus. Apart from the new course imprinted by ideological pressure, it has become impoverished, forced to ignore its national traditions and it cut its ties with a large part of the intellectual world. The way in which, step by step, the cultural landscape freed itself from a double isolation constitutes a process worthy of interest for cultural history. In this sense, the events around the celebration of Ovid in 1957 represent lessons for the rediscovery of a symbol of the cultural past and of universal culture under the sign of the classical heritage. But it is also representative of another reality: at a time when traditional Franco-Romanian relations are seriously affected by the radical deterioration of diplomatic dialogue between the two countries, this event offers the opportunity for a new meeting between their intellectuals. Andreescu donated three photos to Paul Mihail, to rescue and preserve them. N. Iorga’s letter and an autograph copy from 1928 witness his permanent concern to support the Romanian students who studied in France and were hosted at Fontenay aux Roses. There are also suggestions of research topics addressed to Const. Andreescu, and recommendations on how to better organize his work. The two photos from M. Sadoveanu witness the Romanian author’s desire, in 1927, that his novel “Neamul Şoimăreştilor” be translated into French; while his advertisement to “friend Băieţel” concerns the appointment, in April 1932, as director of the University Library from Iaşi. {"title":"Anti-science Narratives as a Form of Legitimization of Post-truth","authors":"Cristina Silvia Vâlcea","doi":"10.60133/pj.2023.1.18","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.60133/pj.2023.1.18","url":null,"abstract":"This article sets forth a Critical Discourse Analysis of the anti-vaccinist narratives kindled by the Covid 19 medical crisis with a view to identifying those elements of the discourse that would mark a degradation of the medical discourse (in the sense of its ostracization) and the entrance into a new era of communication: post-truth. Post-truthfulness is seen here as a disaggregation of the traditional discourse (that was in the service of truth) and a reaggregation of the discourse in a pattern where personal truth is validated in discourse as absolute truth. The article analyses both the de-construction of the traditional discourse and the re-construction of the new one emphasizing in both situations the linguistic means that are used to serve every purpose. This is the premise from which we started to develop this paper, considering that a formal system and formalization (a term used in an extended sense) not only have the role of solving specific problems but also radically modify the epistemic universe – “epistema”, (from the perspective of the object and the subject) in which manifests. It is emphasized the idea of formalization is used broadly. This required a definition of the term, developed in the paper’s first part. After, we underline the importance of writing, analyzing Plato’s myth of Theuth. To support our point of view, we refer to some examples of the “epistema” metamorphosis that have as their cause the changes of a formal system, in this case, writing. The example from this article is Hangeul writing. {"title":"Rumänistik in Berlin: die Geschichte einer philologischen Kleindisziplin","authors":"Ingrid Baltag","doi":"10.60133/pj.2023.1.19","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.60133/pj.2023.1.19","url":null,"abstract":"\"This study is a short history of the Academic teaching of Romanian language and literature in Berlin since the foundation of the Romance Languages Studies. Romanian appears for the first time as an academic curricula at the beginning of the 20th century at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University which after WW II was called Humboldt-University and remained in the eastern sphere after the division of the city of Berlin in east and west. In 1949 the Freie University of Berlin will be established in the western part of the city with support of the US-Government. From this moment on, we have two academic institutes for Romance languages in Berlin offering Romanian Studies, one in the Eastern and one in the Western part of the city. This paper highlights the personalities and their activities in the development of the curricula of these studies in the historical context from the social and political standpoint. We give an outline of how the Romanian teaching developed after the Fall of Berlin Wall and at what point we are now today. Hariton Tiktin was the first scholar to found the department of Romanian language at the Berlin University. Despite his valuable contribution through his comprehensive dictionary, his academic personality has gone forgotten. Tiktin was followed in the 1930s by Ernst Gamillscheg, an Austrian with strong sympathies for the upcoming national-socialist and fascist politics. Retrospectively his academic role in the two decades has been subject to controversy. The second half of this period is also marked by the Romanian linguist Sextil Pușcariu, that was active in Berlin as an academic scholar, being a guest lecturer at the University and as a founder of the Romanian Cultural Institute. The Ending of the War was characterized by a denazification of the academic world, and shows that the measures have never been consistent. The case Bucur is just a tragic academic anecdote. The Afterwar finds the Cold War represented by two competing Universities, and each of them had a Romanian department. On one hand in the western Free University Romanian was focused on Eastern European Studies and in the context of the Romance Philology as well, on the other hand in the Humboldt University the emphasis was on Language Studies and Translation. With the Fall of the Berlin Wall there is a slow change in the curricula reducing Romanian Studies in both Universities to the point that Romanian has been given up in the Free University. The Romanian Studies are still vivid at the Humboldt University but not as independent subject. It is part of different Bachelor and Master-Studies and is open to a wide variety of study subjects and also to all German students from other Universities of the region.
