This is because it contributes to the national economic growth by creating job opportunities. As job creators, small businesses must secure access to financial resources but the critical issue surrounding the survival of small businesses is their financial management. Thus, this study approaches small business specifically to examine their financial practices in doing business. This study succeeded in interviewing 185 entrepreneurs in Kedah, which are involved in five different business sectors. These businesses include food and furniture sectors in the manufacturing area; and catering, groceries, and tailoring from the trade and service area. All these businesses represent the most important small businesses that are operating in Kedah. The selection for business practice priorities was done through a fuzzy approach. This approach had been utilised in investigating the linguistic data of business practices. The results showed that updating bookkeeping records is a dominant practice among the entrepreneurs across all sectors, except for the food processing business.","PeriodicalId":410080,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Accounting","volume":"398 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121254902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Theseresults are remarkable because, in practice, intentions are often used to predict salesfor new non-durable products, and they are better predictors of behaviors over ashort horizon. Branding is also important because it communicates a brand’s businessproposition. The most successful visual expression of a brand is its core attributes,and a positive emotional relationship between the brand and its audience needs to beestablished. Building a local, regional, or national brand with a clearly defined andunderstood target audience is difficult and even more difficult when a global brand isat stake. Some global brands are strongly associated with their country of origin. Incertain categories, this is part of the essence of the brand. Automobiles are the mostnotable example. The objective of this study is to understand the variables influencingconsumers’ purchase intention related to automobiles. In particular, this study providesinsight into the perception of Malaysian consumers with regards to their purchaseintention of a certain brand of automobiles.","PeriodicalId":410080,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Accounting","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128773695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are contrary arguments saying thatthe informal sector would shrink and disappear on its own when the level of economyadvances in the country, but the trend nowadays shows the opposite, where there is anexpansion, mainly in business operating in the urban areas. In early entrepreneurshipresearch, it only focused on finding general individuality and motives of successfulentrepreneurs, where entrepreneurs require capability like traits, knowledge, and specificskills in order to be capable of achieving success as an entrepreneur. Yet, research on therelationship between entrepreneurial skills and business success is scarce, especially inthe informal sector because of availability of data in terms of management, workertraining, growth potential, and access to the world market. In this case, this study focusedon entrepreneurial skill which is the most important factor that contributes to businesssuccess in the informal sector. For any government to retain its popularity, changes are needed to provide morevibrant, dynamic, and progressive services to its client, customer, and stakeholders.Therefore, implementing McKinsey approach is one mechanism to realise thetransformation programme. Implementing McKinsey approach has long been practisedby various organisations in adding value to delivery and improving performance. Thisarticle demonstrates findings of the four out of seven McKinsey approach elementsimplemented in two government departments in Malaysia. The survey method wasconducted in this study on respondents comprising all the stakeholders dealing in theeveryday transactions with the government departments, including suppliers, vendors,and many more. All the questionnaires were analysed and findings explained in greaterdetail. The four McKinsey elements included strategy, structure, system, and sharedvalues (4S). A comparison was made between the results of the 4S from both agencies.Interestingly, the results illustrated how the government departments transformed theiroperational services by getting the whole organisation to put great efforts to undergo theoverall process. The results also indicated that for a government department to undergotransformation, staff’s attitude toward changes, behaviour, and knowledge are crucial inmaking the process a successful one. Further elaboration on outcomes of each McKinseyelements is discussed in detail. The findings would become a guideline for future researchdealing with elements of McKinsey approach, as well as serve as a reference for thebetterment of any organisation that wants to apply the transformation agenda.","PeriodicalId":410080,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Accounting","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129025136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The growing numbers of R&D facilities and personnel, however, isunable to provide assurance that improvement would take place after a particular researchresult is implemented. R&D laboratories themselves are systems that process inputs andgenerate outputs, where in the process, inevitable challenges are encountered to ensure thatthe task is not only capable of solving particular problems, but also to ensure positive andinnovative outcomes. R&D is also subject to performance analysis to measure theeffectiveness, accomplishments, and productivity amongst others, because performance is animportance element in grant disbursement. This highlights the need to understand the inhibitor factors of eP adoption and usage among suppliers in Malaysia. This study examined the adoption and use of eP by the HM Sdn. Bhd. construction company (HM), and its contribution to the Management Information System (MIS) planning strategy in the organisation. An in-depth case study approach was employed in this study. The respondents consisted of 21 individuals from middle and top management levels of HM using purposive sampling procedure. The data were collected via interview and analysed using narrative analysis method. The finding of this study highlighted that complexity and compatibility are the key inhibitor factors in the adoption and use of eP among middle management and top management in the company. Failure to maximise eP advantages can reduce the competitiveness of HM in the market. Furthermore, the management had spent a huge investment to make the eP system become reality.","PeriodicalId":410080,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Accounting","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125088726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important ways of improving societal welfare is through productivity improvements hence various studies have been conducted in relation to this topic. in addition to the current developments in this area of research, this paper attempts to provide in-depth review of previous studies on the determinants of productivity with the aim of identifying both economic and social factors that affect the level of productivity. The paper shows that previous studies on the determinants of productivity are of different folds (on a different basis). The basis of the previous studies includes – that of economic factors and social factors –that of statistical method of analysis and non-statistical method of analysis, some studies are based on tangible “goods†while some are based on intangible “servicesâ€, some factors influence productivity positively while some negatively. Even though, the positive and negative effects of some variables are recognized to be non-mutually exclusive as the same variable might have both positive and negative influence on productivity in two different studies or countries due to the existence of discrepancy of some socio-economic conditions, technological strength and factor intensity among countries, areas of studies and organizations. Also, few studies exist on the determinant of productivity in the service sector compared with those in the goods sector. This paper suggests more empirical studies to be conducted in different countries, organizations and areas of studies especially, on the service sector productivity, as generalizations without empirical studies could be inconclusive and the effects of the determinants may be understated or overstated.","PeriodicalId":410080,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Management and Accounting","volume":"4 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113931417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
