The prevalence of injuries, especially those affecting lower limbs, hampers dancers’ functional capacity. Unlike their professional counterparts, recreational ballet dancers lack specialized training, heightening their vulnerability. The accumulation of repetitive injuries often hampers their ability to attain the highest levels of achievement in their careers, underscoring the necessity to identify and comprehend contributing factors. The aim is to fnd a correlation between the Dance Functional Outcome Survey (DFOS) and critical factors like lower limb flexibility, power, and dynamic balance among recreational ballet dancers.\u0000Methodology: 53 recreational ballet dancers aged 10–18 years with at least one year of dance experience were included. Lower limb flexibility was assessed using the sit and reach test, ankle flexibility, and straddle in supine tests, while power and dynamic balance were evaluated through vertical jump tests and Y balance tests. The DFOS questionnaire measured health status.\u0000Result: Results revealed statistically significant weak positive correlations between DFOS and various factors: sit and reach test (r=0.3060), ankle flexibility (r=0.3830), straddle in supine (r=0.3270), vertical jump test (r=0.3250), and Y balance composite (Right: r=0.3200; Left: r=0.3420).\u0000Conclusion: This study concludes that recreational ballet dancers with greater flexibility, power, and dynamic balance in the lower limb tend to exhibit a higher dance functional status.\u0000Keywords: paediatric, ballet dancers, flexibility, power, dynamic balance, Dance Functional Outcome Survey.

A progressive decline in neuromuscular function (Lexell et al., 1983), structural changes in the brain ( Smith et al., 2010; Zahra et al., 2019)aged 30 to 99 years, were studied with MRI. Age was related to estimated volumes of: gray matter, white matter, and CSF of the cerebrum and cerebellum; gray matter, white matter, white matter abnormality, and CSF within each cerebral lobe; and gray matter of eight subcortical structures. The results were: 1, and inefficiencies in thermoregulatory regulation (Blatteis, 2012; Yamashiro et al., 2020) were found in the old population. We conducted three experiments to investigate the effects of short-term and long-term passive heating on motor performance, as well as the impact of whole-body passive heating on cognitive functioning in both healthy older and young adults.\u0000Methods: In the first study, weight (kg), body fat (%), height (cm), body mass index (BMI), skinfold thickness (mm), and the mean subcutaneous fat thickness were calculated (McArdle et al., 1984). Ankle muscle torque production and contractile properties were determined by isometric torque of the ankle plantar flexion and the isokinetic (dynamic) torque of the ankle plantar flexion/dorsiflexion muscles using an isokinetic dynamometer (System 4; Biodex Medical Systems, Shirley, NY, USA). In the second study, body surface area, heart rate, muscle temperature, and thermal sensation were measured. Prolactin, interleukin-6, dopamine and cortisol concentrations were obtained via venous blood samples. The isometric torque of ankle plantar flexion muscles was assessed as the first study. In the third study, body weight, sweating rate, rectal temperature, heart rate, physiological strain index (PSI), thermal sensations were investigated. A programmed cognitive test to assess cognitive functioning (Brazaitis et al., 2015).\u0000Results: In the first study, for the older adults (vs. younger adults), the application of local heating (vs. control trial) was accompanied by a significant increase in maximal voluntary peak torque, rate of torque development, and isokinetic peak torque of plantar flexion/dorsiflexion muscle contraction. In the second study, older males demonstrated greater neuromuscular fatigability resistance and faster maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) torque recovery after a 2-min sustained isometric MVC task under thermoneutral and severe hyperthermic conditions. In the third study, PSI was lower and cortisol concentration was greater after whole-body heating in the older group compared with the younger group. Surprisingly, hyperthermia improved cognitive flexibility only in old adults, whereas short-term and visual recognition memories were maintained in both age groups.\u0000Conclusions: In the first study, the spinal and supraspinal reflex excitability of older adults increased during local knee-heating application. Possible biological mechanisms that may underlie the effectiveness of physical exercise include increased blood flow in the brain, changes in neurotransmitter release, and the process of neurogenesis (Sumińska, 2021). However, there is still a lack of sufficient research on the relationship of physical exertion and aging, and their interaction. New research is looking for the best tools and methods to improve the quality of life of older people.\u0000 Methods: This study evaluated 65 non-exercising men over the age of 60. The participants were divided into groups of restricted blood flow training (BFRT), concentric training (MDRT) and control groups. Strength training in which leg pressing, leg bending and leg extension exercises were performed lasted 12 weeks. The short version of the World Health Organization (WHO 100) Quality of Life Questionnaire was used to assess quality of life, the subjects’ physical abilities were evaluated using the Fullerton Test set, and ANAM4 cognitive function tests were used to assess cognitive functions\u0000 Results: When comparing restricted blood flow, concentric training and control groups, the results of the functional test evaluation were improved statistically significantly: standing and walking, standing up from a chair (p<.001). The result of the hand grip test did not change significantly. The results of the quality of life assessment deteriorated statistically significantly in all the groups: in the areas of physical health, social relations and environment (p <.001), and in the area of psychological health (p=0.001). When evaluating cognitive functions we found that only inhibition function (Go/No Go) improved significantly (p<.001).\u0000 Conclusion: The study found that regardless of the type of strength training, the quality of life of elderly did not improve. It is estimated that 800,000 individuals commit suicide each year. Previous research has found a number of factors, such as mental illness, financial hardships, marital issues, and social pressures that lead to suicidal behaviour. The causes of suicidal behaviour in Southwest Nigeria, however, have received little attention. In this study, the causes of suicidal behaviour among people in southwest Nigeria are examined. The study uses a qualitative methodology and gathers its data from secondary sources such as academic journals, books, newspapers, theses, and dissertations. The data demonstrate that major risk factors for suicide behaviour in Southwest Nigeria included sadness, anxiety, and hopelessness. Significant factors in suicide behaviour included social pressure, relationship issues, and financial hardships. The report also emphasises the role that stigma around mental health conditions and a lack of access to quality medical care play in escalating suicidal conduct. In order to encourage economic growth and development, the article advises the supply of mental health resources, the development of awareness campaigns, the construction of psychological and emotional support groups, overcoming financial obstacles, and collaboration with private organisations. The prevalence of suicidal conduct in Southwest Nigeria would decrease with the use of these approaches. The issue of pre-competition anxiety is multidimensional and there is still a lack of complex studies in multiple sports as well as in volleyball analysing the relationships of pre-competitive anxiety with multiple correlates. Methods. The research participants were male and female volleyball players from fore Lithuanian teams. The questionnaires were completed by 37 athletes (51.4% females) aged between 20 and 41 years (median age 23.0 years). Questions about Competitive State Anxiety (CSAI-2), socio-demographic and sport characteristics were answered 40 minutes before the pre-competition warm-up. Results. The level of female and male pre-competition anxiety components was similar (p > 0.05). Direct associations were found between cognitive and somatic anxiety in both sex groups (p < 0.001). In the female group, cognitive anxiety was higher compared to somatic anxiety (p < 0.05). In the male subgroup cognitive anxiety was directly associated with age (p < 0.05). Relationships with sport characteristics (N=37): the level of cognitive anxiety was directly related to the number of years of playing volleyball (p < 0.05); volleyball players who reported having sufficient knowledge to manage competitive anxiety had lower levels of cognitive anxiety (p < 0.05), and lower self-confidence (p < 0.05). Conclusions. The research data may help to better understand the manifestation of volleyball players’ pre-competitive anxiety in sex groups and the relationship with sport characteristics. Doping is a real problem in sport and continues to be one of the most controversial topics, despite significant advancements in doping prevention. Lack of knowledge of the anti-doping regulations is one of the risk factors for doping. Currently, anti-doping education is focused on clean sport promotion. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the views on clean sport and doping prevention among athletes from various sports. Methods. A qualitative approach was used to examine athletes’ views on clean sport. Following a purposeful sampling technique, we interviewed eight men and one woman (Mage = 24.00, SD = 2.73 years) who were competing in various sports at the national level or above in Lithuania. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. Results. Analysis of interview data allowed to distinguish the following three broad themes related to athletes’ views on doping education and recommendations for improving it. The research participants shared their thoughts about the concept of clean sport, possible reasons that may encourage athletes to compete in sport clean, and discussed clean sport education. Conclusion. Clean sport can be understood as cheating-free sport. Possible reasons to compete clean in sport are unwillingness to experience shame and fear of damaging health. Athletes believe that current doping prevention is ineffective. Self-esteem is one characteristic of personality, a construct of self-confidence, self-respect, and harmonious interaction with oneself (Breslin, Leavey, 2019). Research devoted to the analysis of men's self-esteem reveals that a positive self-evaluation of men requires an image of a physically active man, which the man could compare with other men who demonstrate physical strength (Conzelmann, Schmidt, 2019). A man's physical self-perception is part of the assessment of a physically healthy and strong person and an aspect that ensures his sociality (Crawford, 2017). Scientific research establishes clear links between a man's physical attractiveness (Anderson-Butcher, 2019), sociability and self-esteem (Anderson, White, 2017). Men who systematically engage in active physical activity are physically healthier and more attractive (Burrmann, 2018). They are also emotionally more stable, their emotional self-control is more focused and their self-confidence is higher (El Ghali, 2018). \u0000Aim of the research. To reveal the effect of sports activities on the self-esteem of men experiencing social exclusion. \u0000Methods. To determine men's self-esteem changes The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was chosen, and the Data were processed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science), version 22.0. \u0000Results. A study in which men experiencing social exclusion participated in independent and team sports activities for half a year revealed a positive change in their self-esteem. When analyzing the changes in men's self-esteem before and after the activities, the distance between the estimates of the Rosenberg test before the experiment and 6 months after it ended is 1 standard deviation on the z-scale of the standard normal distribution. According to Cohen's concept of effective size, such a difference between standardized means can be considered as large. Despite the relatively small sample (N=30), the test met the very strict condition of statistical reliability (p≤0.001). \u0000Conclusion. The study revealed that when socially excluded men were included in sports activities held for half a year, their self-esteem changed from 15 points (low self-esteem) to 25-30 points (high self-esteem). \u0000Keywords: social exclusion, self-esteem, sports activities \u0000

Most studies investigating exercise-induced BDNF changes have focused on free or mature BDNF, while the measurement of total BDNF, encompassing both proBDNF and mature BDNF, may provide a more comprehensive understanding of BDNF regulation. This pilot study aimed to explore the preliminary effects of resistance training on total BDNF levels in elderly individuals participating in a resistance training program. \u0000Methods: A small sample of participants (n=6) was recruited and engaged in a structured resistance training program for 12 weeks, with 6 participants in a control group. Total BDNF levels were measured at baseline and post-intervention using reliable laboratory assessments. Additionally, an isokinetic dynamometer was used to determine muscle strength to explore the effect of the resistance training program on muscle performance. \u0000Results: The findings revealed a significant increase in total BDNF levels following the 12 week resistance training intervention (p<0.05). However, improvements in physical performance measures, knee extension peak torque and isometric maximal voluntary contraction, were not observed. \u0000Conclusion: In conclusion, this pilot study provides preliminary evidence of the positive effects of a 12 week resistance training intervention on total BDNF levels. The measurement of total BDNF levels serves as an important marker in assessing the response to resistance training. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer intervention periods is warranted to further explore the relationship between resistance training and total BDNF levels and to confirm these preliminary findings.
