The discussions about the ability to fulfill customer needs and to increase utilization of the services provided by a hotel are relatively rare. This study applies Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to evaluate both efficiency and effectiveness of the international tourism hotels (ITHs) in Taiwan. The results show that there are 17 ITHs have reached efficiency and 7 ITHs have reached effectiveness during 2008. However, there are only 5 ITHs have achieved efficiency and effectiveness at the same time. The results may suggest that the ITHs care more about the utilization of resources, however, the services provided by ITHs did not been fully used by their customers. Therefore, the ITHs should pay more attentions on their customer needs and further provide services that fit customer needs.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128675017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many approaches have been suggested to trade-off between the security strength and efficiency, and most of them focus on the confidentiality and integrity of MANET while pay less attention to the availability issue. Based on the analysis of availability related factors in MANET, we present an availability based trust model in this paper. Furthermore, a cluster based trust model (ABTMC, Availability Based Trust Model of Clusters) is presented with the consideration with the resource constrain of node, dynamic topology, and the unbalance of computing capability and resource capability among MANET nodes. Many availability oriented security service can be obtained based on this model.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129448887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Loyalty programs typically provide customers with loyalty incentives such as points redeemable for discounts or prizes. However, there has been some debate on whether loyalty programs have significant impacts on increasing customer loyalty. In this talk, we present a case study which evaluates the impact of a loyalty program of an automobile manufacturer. The company's loyalty program, launched about three years ago, provides various leisure-related services as well as automobile maintenance services. The purpose of the case study is to investigate whether the loyalty program has an impact on enhancing its customer loyalty; and if so, identify the service items having important effects. An empirical study is conducted involving an on-line survey using its loyalty program members. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is used in building and analyzing quantitative models among service items, customer perception and satisfaction dimensions, and customer loyalty measures. The outcome of this study can be used in devising a strategy for improving the company's loyalty program.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123845129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A positive triangular fuzzy number is used to model the external market demand. Using the method of fuzzy cut sets theory, the models of centralized decision-making and returns policy are built, and their optimal policies are also proposed. It shows that the optimal order quantity of the retailer fluctuates at the center of the fuzzy demand and increases with the raise of the retail price; there exists a unique solution of the optimal wholesale price and return price; the coordination of members can be achieved in returns policy with fuzzy demand. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the models and the solution-seeking process.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121485584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, all major Japanese floricultural wholesale (B2B) markets have adopted powerful information systems such as modem auction and dispatching systems, therefore, providing high quality knowledge based service for both flower suppliers and retailers has become the source of competitiveness. Seeking the needs of consumer to make a new trend and support suppliers and retailers to make their decision is a new challenge for floricuhural wholesale markets. The aim of this research is to propose a decision support service framework in floricultural wholesale markets which is based on knowledge discovery. The decision support service helps retailers to have their own seasonal purchasing model according to the role model (model made by trend creators), so that retailers could make their purchasing plan more adaptive to the seasonal consumer needs. In this paper, the problems in Japanese floriculture wholesale markets is discussed from the point of view of knowledge discovery and decision support, and a conceptual model of a decision support service is introduced.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128017658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results show that both price elasticity and income elasticity vary between different consumption-level consumer groups. For low-consumption consumers, income is the most important factor that impacts their consumption, while the price of mobile voice service and the price of communication tools and local fixed voice service all have little effects on consumption; for middle and high consumption consumers, when consumption rise, the price sensitivity of consumers tends to increases, cross-price elasticity of communication tools and local fixed voice service also increase. These results indicate that quantile regression model can give us more detailed and accurate descriptions of demand function than ordinary regression models, and provide us a new method to correctly judge the development stage of the mobile voice service market and then further develop effective marketing strategies.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"506 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115887842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A mathematical model is constructed to resolve the problem of controlling the inventory and transportation of products between locations. There exists a trade-off relationship between the quantity of stock-out and the total inventory at distribution centers. The proposed method includes a strategy for reducing production and standard inventory and a model for minimizing discrepancies between the expected inventory and the resultant inventory among shops. A numerical experiment is performed on a simple model to evaluate the proposed method. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in simultaneously reducing the total inventory, logistics cost, and stock-out, through a comparison of methods involving various strategies for production and standard inventory and various models of product distribution from distribution centers to shops.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130114078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
