Consumers are interested in not only the product itself, but also its function and value, and they tend not to own a product, but to use it. Besides, a commoditization proceeds, the profits of products for manufactures is diminishing. Under such environment, many manufacturers try to exploit new value-added service business. A new business which has not been experienced contains a number of uncertain factors, so it's further difficult to design a business model structure and evaluate its effectiveness. Many companies tend to fail their new service business because of ignoring influence of risk factors. This paper proposes the service design method for new business which utilizes Business Dynamics (BD) methodology. BD is useful for a new business design to specify the business structure including feedback loops, and to evaluate the performance quantitatively by changing business scenarios dependent on business environment. This paper shows the process flow of the performance evaluation utilizing BD, and the effectiveness of the proposed methodology is demonstrated through its application to a trial for a new service business.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115686449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper mainly addresses the scheduling problem of multiple RTGCs when containers in the terminal yard need to be intensively transported to hinterland. In order that all container tasks can be completed in the shortest time, our objective is to find the optimal RTGC scheduling, which means that it must be decided how to allocate the tasks to be handled to each RTGC and how to arrange for any RTGC the servicing sequence of the tasks so that all the tasks could be handled as soon as possible. Firstly a mixed integer programming model is proposed to formulate the problem which is an NP-hard problem. In the model, the precedence relations between tasks are taken into account. Then according to complexity of the problem, the genetic algorithm is utilized to solve it. Computational experiments show that the proposed approaches are applicable to solve this difficult but essential terminal operation problem.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"231 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124386295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Providing high quality service is not only the most important factor for customer satisfaction and loyalty (e.g. Berry et al., 1994), but it could determine the competitiveness of a service provider (Lengnick and Hall, 1996). Service quality in general has attracted significant research attention in recent years, but that is not true in case of the leisure sport industry. The measurement of service quality in this field is still in a formative stage. My purpose in this paper is to present a complete literature review on the quality of services related to leisure sports. I also intend to give answers to the following research questions: What are the main distinguishing characteristics of a leisure sport service provider, not only with respect to service quality but also in general. What are the important dimensions of service quality for the leisure sport services? I am also interested in the \"Hungarian aspects\" of leisure sport services. I present herein the results of my quantitative research among customers (university students) and the main results of in-depth interviews with owners or managers of Hungarian leisure sport service providers.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120984272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To rectify this situation, we analyze these issues using reverse engineering method in this paper. First, we discuss the current situation of this field in Japan. Second, the IT solution service that we have developed is introduced as a case study. In this case study, we discuss the concept of two service \"values\", i.e., \"objective value\", which is the customer's end goal to be achieved by the IT systems and services, and \"functional value\", which is actually provided by those systems and services. Third, a service model is presented, which shows the relations among the agents who provide and receive services in the case study. To model the service, we discuss the important role of \"design office\" as a facilitator and a producer. Finally, our developed MUSE method is demonstrated as a practical and reasonable way to reveal and clarify a customer's objective value. It has become harder than before for customers to optimize and balance the overall system goals by themselves; collaborative work among service agents becomes a crucial factor to realizing effective services. Significant activities of the design office and effective use of the MUSE method are valuable and indispensable for achieving the customer's end goal.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127184815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Outcomes of Innovation often go premature due to failing to cross the chasm of adoption. Literature in this domain takes the positive perspective to describe and explain the phenomena, however, scarcely provides any solution. This study from a normative marketing perspective proposes a customer knowledge management (CKM) approach to articulate how a company ought to do to tackle the issue. It is done by manipulating various forms of reduced-form model for data mining to acquire customers' response toward innovation and predict their adoption intention. An industrial level case study on Telematics adoption attitude is given to delineate the details of implementation.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126197074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, sparsity can reduce the accuracy of recommendation, causing a serious problem in terms of reliability. In this paper, in order to reduce sparsity and raise the accuracy of recommendation, we propose a method that combines an item-based CF with user-based CF using weight of user information. The proposed method computes user similarity on the basis of weight of user information and thereby makes a prediction, once non-rated items pre-filled in the user-item rating matrix in the item-based CF. The result of the experiment shows that the proposed method can improve the extreme sparsity of rating data, and provide better recommendation results than traditional collaborative filtering.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125281740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agile supply chain should have a quick market response, a high degree of information sharing, a high degree of process integration and interoperability. Traditional distributed technologies (CORBA/DCOM) can't meet dynamic, intelligent, automated requirement in the agile supply chain construction. In this paper, Web Services technology is used to build agile supply chain. Through the use of key technologies (XML, SOAP, UDDI, WSDL, WSFL) of Web Services, the integration framework of agile supply chain was proposed, and seamless integration of enterprise applications on heterogeneous platforms was realized. Therefore the intelligent business process was achieved.","PeriodicalId":409538,"journal":{"name":"2010 7th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115030326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
