J. and F. A. was circulated among dental students, through dental students’ channels on Telegram, Instagram, and Facebook for 26 days (from December 10, 2021, to January 4, 2022). The questionnaire contains six questions on what is thought to be relevant to the study’s aim. The questions were based on 16 years of educational experience in clinical training in the oral surgery clinic. Students from Baghdad, Basra, Anbar, and Babylon provinces participated in this study. Contributions were from governmental and private dental schools. The questionnaire constituted six items investigating aspects of radiographic investigations concerning dental extraction, as viewed by dental students.\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Two hundred and fifty-four students and new graduates answered the questionnaire. The overwhelming majority (67.3%) of participants stated that a radiograph is needed for all teeth before dental extraction. Seventy-five out of 180 participants think that an X-ray is required to evaluate the relationship with vital structure. Out of 254, 163 participants preferred a periapical radiograph before dental extraction followed by OPG. The change in the tendency toward X-ray type during the academic year has been statistically confirmed (P = 0.002).\u0000\u0000\u0000\u0000Students and new graduates seem to favor taking X-ray before dental extraction only if needed. It seems to suggest that with the progress of the study, participants are more inclined to choose problem-based X-ray examinations. The screening purpose of X-ray investigation seems to be overlooked with the progress of study and practice.\u0000

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) enables the production of fibrin network that are loaded with platelets and growth factors, which are then employed to speed up bone regeneration, hence, used to enhance bone formation. A patient of 18 years reported pain in the maxillary anterior region and clinically slight swelling was appreciated with the same region, diagnosed with periapical inflammatory lesion, and managed by performing periapical surgery using PRF. Optimal healing and regeneration of bone were achieved in this case. PRF is the material of choice for many clinicians nowadays since it shows its regenerative property even when used alone or in addition to any other biomaterial. Other than having a high concentration of platelet, it has numerous growth factors that readily repair and regenerate hard tissue.

This process is directed by a family of numerous regulatory proteins known as cyclins, which are expressed at various phases of the cell cycle. Among the different cyclins, cyclin D1 is one such important cell cycle nucleoprotein that regulates the rate of mitotic division as well as many other biological mechanisms. In the recent years, however, cyclin D1 has shown abnormal expression within the cell cycle machinery and has been overexpressed in a wide variety of tumors, therefore implying that it might have an influence in the cell cycle aberration and can initiate oncogenesis. Hence, the emergence of cyclin D1 expression in cancer has indicated its significance as a tumor biomarker. In addition, cyclin D1 has also raised questions regarding its molecular role in many other pathologies apart from cancer as well, and so till date, it continues to be a topic of interest.

Insufficient gingival thickness and lack of adequate width of attached gingiva are considered to be the most common reason for progressive gingival recession. This case report presented the management of gingival recession in the lower anterior tooth using two-stage recession coverage technique. In the first stage, free gingival grafting was performed which was followed by coronally advanced flap in combination with cross-linked collagen matrix (Fibro-Gide, Geistlich Biomaterials, Switzerland) for recession coverage and enhancement of gingival thickness. Three-month follow-up of the case reported significant enhancement in clinical parameters with improvement in patient’s esthetic demand.

It is the most common giant cell lesion of oral cavity and also called “giant cell epulis.” Because of its high growth potential, it is more invasive and may involve adjacent interdental cortical plate. In case of PGCG, diagnosis is based on histological analysis which precedes its management. Surgical excision should remove the lesion completely with its base for its rapid penetrating nature and to prevent recurrence. This paper reports a case of PGCG at the mandibular anterior region lingually with histological diagnosis and surgical management.

Ozonated water strongly inhibits the formation of oral biofilm and reduces the number of subgingival microbes. The photodynamic therapy (PDT) leads to formation of highly reactive nacent oxygen which causes bacterial cell death. This case report compares the treatment outcome of AgP with antimicrobial photodynamic therapy and ozonized water. The right side of a AgP diagnosed patient was treated by scaling and root planing (SRP) followed by subgingival irrigation with ozone water, while the left side was treated with SRP followed by PDT. After four sessions of irrigation, higher pocket reduction, more clinical attachment gain, and lower bacterial load were found in the segment treated with PDT.

Periodontitis is the infection of the tissues that areis initiated by plaque deposition along with anaerobic microbiota, for example, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, Bacteroides forsythus,_and_Porphyromonas gingivalis. The repercussion of plaque deposition is calculus formation which augments inflammation. This inflammation coaxes to mislay of periodontal ligaments and alveolar bone which terminates mobility and tooth loss. This critique summarizes the effects of these periodontal maladies on oral health and overall health. Many studies have concluded and proven the relationship between periodontal maladies and systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, nephropathy, diabetes, osteoporosis, and respiratory disorders. Substantial attempts are made in the critique to show the pathological mechanism between oral maladies and systemic diseases. This review represents that periodontal treatment could ameliorate systemic diseases and highlights the attention of health-care specialists to emphasize the need for an association between dental and medical disciplines.
