Since Palestine is ranked as a developing entity that suffers from being dependent on imported conventional energy sources, available non-dominated renewable energies may considerably ease its dependency. The location of Palestine offers a large potential of solar and wind energy sources ready to be utilized. In this paper a Hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) that integrates both solar and wind energies into main power grid is proposed. The proposed HRES is designed for one of the Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) campuses in Hebron city. For the sake of the best efficient HRES, a Genetic algorithm (GA) is used to determine the most feasible economic values while ensuring the highest reliability. Results obtained show that then proposed hybrid energy system is cost-effective and most suitable for the demanded load. The study uses various parameters such including observations of solar radiation, wind speed, and other true economic parameters as capital cost, operation, and maintenance cost, to ensure best optimized combined solar and wind energies.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130609035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, imaging diagnosis systems can detect skin cancer early. It is necessary to treat the skin cancer, especially, melanoma – one of the most dangerous form of skin cancer. In this paper, we proposed two adaptive methods to estimate the global threshold used for skin lesion segmentation based on normalization of the color models: RGB and XYZ. The skin lesion segmentation based on our proposed methods gives better result than the Otsu segmentation method regarding the grayscale model. This comparison is assessed on popular metrics for image segmentation, such as Dice and Jaccard scores. Experiments are tested on the famous ISIC dataset.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126706586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experimental observations match with the expected theoretical calculations. The saturation drain current is found to scale linearly with width (W) for a fixed number of fingers (n), whereas it is observed to follow a stronger than expected dependence on n for a fixed W. This dependence on n tends towards linear as we go to higher values of drain voltages. The on-resistance and the maximum transconductance of the devices, separated from the extra leakage components, follow the expected dependence on n and W.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133038386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it can be practically useful in many other areas, from medicine to military technologies. Creating an interactive 3D ballistics simulation on a table is one of those purposes. In this paper, we present the work we carried out for designing and developing an augmented reality military game. The game is an artillery simulation where the player controls cannons and tries to take successful shots. The key feature of the game is that it utilizes AR technologies to place the game environment in the player's real life environment through smart AR glasses. The terrain where all the action takes place, is perceived to be on the table or floor in player's room. A specific 2D image is used to track the position and orientation of the surface where the game environment is placed. A general research about the background of AR technologies and game development, and detailed walk-through of the project's development are provided in the following sections.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133129869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, a LC cross-coupled voltage controlled oscillator in the S-band is designed for space communications as a case study using a commercial 0.18 µm CMOS Mixed-Mode/RF device technology. At 77 K, performance variations are observed with respect to the room temperature through the model extracted from transistor measurements that have been conducted using liquid nitrogen. One notable observation indicates that by cooling down to the cryogenic temperatures, the oscillator can fall into the \"waste of power\" region and therefore the phase noise of the circuit does not necessarily improve in the cryogenic operation regime. Even though there is a gap in the literature about the cryogenic behavior of passive devices, it is shown that the variations on the varactor threshold value and the quiescent node voltages of the circuit can notably shift the needed control voltages. Moreover, a voltage controlled oscillator is designed, which ensures practical operation both at 300 K and 77 K, thereby demonstrating how the tuning range and phase noise performance of the oscillator changes at different temperatures.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130810830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The TAS transmitter is characterized by a lower number of Radio Frequency (RF) chains than the number of transmit antennas, hence it is capable of reducing both the energy consumption as well as the transmitter cost. The proposed scheme combines TAS-OSTBC system with Hybrid Analog-Digital Beamforming for 60 GHz mmWave communications and using Hadamard transform. The computer simulation results demonstrate that the TAS-OSTBC scheme with fully digital SVD-based precoding has better Bit Error Rate (BER) performance than that of the conventional TAS system with OSTBC scheme. Furthermore, the error performance is significantly improved by applying Uniform Linear Array (ULA) antennas which improve the system performance as the number of array elements increases due to providing a beamforming gain. It is also found that the BER performance is further improved by applying Hadamard transform with an SNR improvement of about 3dB over the conventional systems without using Hadamard transform.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117049316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For propulsion, many choices can be done by making a trade-off between, cost, mass, volume, efficiency, reliability, maintenance, etc. There is mainly the induction machine, permanent magnet synchronous machine, and switched reluctance machine. In order to reduce costs, it was suitable to remove the sensors, particularly the flux and speed sensors, and replace them with an observer that allows the estimation of these quantities based on the measurement of currents and voltages. Thus, the sensorless control takes its place among the techniques of control of the electric motors. However, few observers are effective and act correctly on motor control. This is due to their sensitivity to the parameters of the machine, measurement disturbances, dynamics at low speeds, etc. In this paper, the sensorless vector control of the IM is discussed by using the Luenberger observer. The study is based on different adaptation mechanisms to estimate the speed such as the conventional PI and the fuzzy mechanism.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127208287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, the grids, in which financial problems are experienced, are rapidly liberalized to supply affordable, continuous and high quality energy to consumers. The liberalization of the distribution grid in Turkey have been completed in the last decade. In this study, a current review of consumer rights after the liberalization of Turkey's distribution grid is carried out. Although some improvements in supply continuity after liberalization has been shown, the supply continuity performance of distribution grid is not at the desired level considering Turkey's economic performance, size and development. Objectives within the liberalization of the distribution grid in Turkey can only be achieved through cooperation with regulatory authority and private companies. In this respect, private companies should take necessary measures and the regulatory authority should revises existing regulations considering characteristics of the distribution companies and make necessary audits.","PeriodicalId":407725,"journal":{"name":"2019 6th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131118633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
