Using hacking tools and techniques also known as penetration testing or ethical hacking can contribute to mitigate the security risks. However, due to the misinformation on penetration testing, some managers refused to adopt this arm to protect their information against hackers. As a result, in Malaysian Higher Education Institutions domain, the number of victims of hackers keeps increasing considerably. The research objectives are to enable a paradigm shift on higher management level on penetration testing as part of the essential IT security components. To demonstrate how penetration testing contributes to improve the security. To provide security managers and top managers a positive vision of pen-testing through a revised security framework based on an existing one. This research will be carried out qualitatively and quantitatively, and its output will be based on numeric analysis, case study, survey and literature reviews.","PeriodicalId":407600,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Mathematical Sciences and Computing Research (iSMSC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117264584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The crucial task in our permutation generation algorithm is starter sets generation where listing n! permutation is dependent on starter sets. Thus the task of starter sets generation is partitioned. However the parallel algorithm with 12 initial starter sets is less efficient when numbers of processors are more than seven. For increasing performance of parallel algorithm over processors, the number of initial starter sets change to 60. This parallel algorithm is directly implemented from its sequential algorithm and integrated with Message Passing Interface (MPI) libraries. The improvement of the parallel algorithm is shown better performance in terms of speedup and efficiency.","PeriodicalId":407600,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Mathematical Sciences and Computing Research (iSMSC)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123116975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, in this paper, the performance of the linear vector autoregressive model (VAR), mean adjusted Markov switching vector autoregressive model (MSM-VAR) and mean adjusted heteroskedasticity Markov switching vector autoregressive model (MSMH-VAR) are applied in order to examine the oil price return and the gold price return effect on stock market returns. The two break point tests indicate the existence of break dates in the data. In addition, a comparison among the three model's performance show that the two Markov switching vector autoregressive models with first autoregressive order able to provide the most significance, reliable and valid results as compared to linear vector autoregressive.","PeriodicalId":407600,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Mathematical Sciences and Computing Research (iSMSC)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134190032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data gathered is mainly comprised of DNA, RNA and protein sequences, which are imprecise, incomplete and increasing exponentially. Classification of protein sequences into different superfamilies could be helpful for knowing the structure/function or hidden characteristics of an unknown protein sequence. The problem of classifying protein sequences based on the primary sequence information is a very complex and challenging task in the analysis and understanding of sequenced data. The existing classification methods are performing well on a very limited data; however the rapid increase in the genomic data leads to the development of improved computational methods. In this work, we have proposed an optimized tree-classification technique which uses cluster k nearest neighbor classification algorithm to classify protein sequences into superfamilies. The proposed technique is alignment free and the experimental results reveal that it outperforms than the previous state-of-the-art approaches. The overall best classification accuracy achieved is 97-98% on the previously utilized dataset, which is taken from the well-known UniProtKB database.","PeriodicalId":407600,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Mathematical Sciences and Computing Research (iSMSC)","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128486430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, an effective pre-flood warning system must be developed to mitigate flood losses and lessen the flood effects. However, when developing a warning system for flood disaster, limited communication during the occurrence and the availability of electricity should be taken into account. Thus, this paper proposes a conceptual framework with three (3) stages that consist of monitoring water level with reference to previous flood cases to determine flood danger status, alerting communities, passersby and local authorities regarding the water level and flood danger status and lastly is to notify flood victims to immediately go to the nearest relief center. By having an effective real time pre-flood warning system, immediate action can be carried out in order to save lives and minimize the damage caused by flood disaster.","PeriodicalId":407600,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Mathematical Sciences and Computing Research (iSMSC)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115485966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
