The article assesses the validity of the pessimistic diagnosis of some authors - Caplan, Brennan, van Reybrouck, Mounk - based on institutional causes and social dysfunctions. Situated in the worrying political present of the rise of the ultra-right, I present the paradox of a movement that has never shown greater strength, but that does so within an extremely hostile political and economic constellation. On the one hand, feminism has developed virally on a horizontal plane in which the organization has been allergic to hierarchies. On the other hand, linked to the institutionalization of equality policies, it has made progress, but it has also harvested ambivalences and rejections. Advancing the characterization of transnational feminism and its agendas since the 1990s is an ongoing research task that cannot ignore the need to articulate a political response to the ongoing anti-feminist reaction","PeriodicalId":40614,"journal":{"name":"Bajo Palabra-Journal of Philosophy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44573707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the EU is key to understanding the civil and political community of the 21st century, suitable for the globalized world. Yet, the European project, and its main civic achievement, that is, Union citizenship, faces deep challenges in light of nationalist and populist discourses expanding all across Europe, as the case of the so-called Brexit shows. This articles aims at highlighting the political singularity of the EU and underlining the challenges it poses to political theory, stressing the reach and shortcomings of Union citizenship.","PeriodicalId":40614,"journal":{"name":"Bajo Palabra-Journal of Philosophy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48353381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the phenomenon known as constitutionalism has brought to the fore the discussion about whether this and democracy are opposite principles on which a sensible political theory should attempt to reach a compromise or are on the contrary complementary principles that have a common origin. Ronald Dworkin, one of the most important philosophers of law in recent decades, offers a suggestive reflection on this issue. This inquiry is not only of interest considered, but the way in which the article sheds light on the understanding of law as an institutional phenomenon.","PeriodicalId":40614,"journal":{"name":"Bajo Palabra-Journal of Philosophy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45438434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
