From the perspective of profit per unit product, we have established the nonlinear programming model to determine the machine precision and product calibration value. After that, we solve the nonlinear programming model based on GAs, which can fix out the most appropriate component parameters to optimize the result. We conduct a comparative study between GAs and the enumeration method and give relevant analysis in the end of this paper.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122113250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) is a quite popular algorithm for person detection in visible imagery. We implement the pedestrian detection in infrared imagery with this algorithm by adjusting the parameters. Simultaneously, we have increased some other geometric characteristics, such as mean contrast, which is used as features for the detection. After analyzing the property of the infrared imagery, which is designed to meet the shortfall of the HOG in infrared imagery, the combined vectors are fed to a linear SVM for object/non-object classification and we get the detector at the same time. After that, the detection window is scanned across the image at multiple positions and scales, which is followed by the combination of the overlapping detections. At last, a pedestrian is described by a final detection, and we have detected the pedestrians in the thermal imagery. Experimental results with OSU Thermal Pedestrian Database are reported to demonstrate the excellent performance of our algorithms.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"243 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117215754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies have shown that emotion elicited after learning can affect memory consolidation. However, many prior studies were based on animal studies. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the effect of emotion can extend to reconsolidation of different aspects of memory for an event. This study therefore examined the effect of post-learning emotion, elicited by video clips, on reconsolidation of memory for item memory and source memory for Chinese words. On day 1 participant learned a list of neutral, positive and negative Chinese words, and took immediate test of free recall. On day 2 (24 hours after the session in day 1) they returned to the laboratory, took a test of free recall for memory reactivation, and then watched a 3-min neutral, positive, or negative video clips for emotion elicitation. On day 3 (24 hours after the session in day 2), they returned to the laboratory and took a test of cued-recall. The results showed that whether negative nor positive, that was elicited after reactivation of memory through the paradigm of recalling, could affect the reconsolidation of both item memory and source memory. However, that item memory for emotional words were significantly better than for neutral words, whereas source memory for emotional words did not significantly differ from that for neutral words. This finding indicating that emotion has differential effects on item memory and source memory.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128317830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The two neural A/D converters are constructed with comparators and Schmitt triggers, respectively, and they are all designed by using neuron-MOS transistors. The benefit of the proposed circuit realization with neuron-MOS transistors is that the structure of the circuit has been simplified significantly. The proposed circuits can be fabricated by standard CMOS process with a 2-ploy layer. From the HSPICE simulation results using TSMC 0.35μm double-polysilicon CMOS technology, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128610837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective used here is to minimize the total stevedoring time and the total operational cost. In order to solve the problem in reasonable time, the multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is designed. Five instances with 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 ships are used for testing the model and PSO. The result of experimental computations indicate that the algorithm is effective and the model can get the optimal trade-off solution between time and cost. Compared with the single-objective model, the multi-objective model is more beneficial to the whole shipping system.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123161571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims at improving the suitability and computational efficiency of the ant colony optimization algorithm in dynamic topology optimization problems. The natural frequencies of the structure must be maximized yet satisfying a constraint on the final volume. Optimization results obtained in three test cases indicate that modified ACO is more efficient and robust than ACO in solving dynamic topology optimization problems.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"211 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123060151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is found that the chaotic threshold is decided by the value of parameters in the Vandepol oscillator; the non-Gaussian color noise has little effect on the system's ultimate dynamic behavior when the oscillator is in the chaotic behavior. The parameters slight changes of single-input periodic signal will induce the great differently of dynamic behavior. Numerical results confirm our conclusion that the Vandepol oscillator is immune to zero mean square non-Gaussian color noise.","PeriodicalId":404981,"journal":{"name":"2012 8th International Conference on Natural Computation","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122673354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
