The ISA mainly consists of initialization process and iteration process, and the process of iteration is accomplished according to the move of the best particle in the colony. To show the effectiveness of the proposed ISA, we apply it to solve 8 different kinds of nonlinear programming problems, and compare the computational results with those obtained by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA) in the literature. The comparison results show that the ISA is efficient to the problems in multiple-dimensional, nonlinear and complex programming problems. Furthermore, three test problems are selected to demonstrate the effectiveness of the ISA from the sensitivity perspective. The numerical experiments show that the ISA is robust to the parameters settings.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123820681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key to sample in data mining is how to design a sampling strategy to get a favorable sample to execute the mining algorithm at minor cost of accuracy. In this article we propose a progressive sampling algorithm based on confusion matrix to determine the optimal sample size. The novelty of this algorithm is that it can find the appropriate sample very quickly and very accurately without executing the data mining.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123824408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both manufacturer and retailer have opportunities to lend from two lenders. Firstly the lender make decisions on whether finance the manufacturer or retailer or both, Then decide the amount of loan and interest rate to minimize the risk and maximize profits. The manufacturer will decide on which lender to lend that makes two lenders compete with each other. Our work shows that the lender tend to finance manufacturer and retailer both and get a equilibrium interest rate. Periodic review echelon order-up-to policies are used to control the chain. Customer demand is imposed at end stock-points and, if unsatisfied, is backordered. We address this problem from a dynamic optimization of local decisions point of view, to ensure a global optimum for the supply chain performance.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125294724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CSA is characterized by a set of parallel SA processes coupled by their acceptance probabilities. However, unlike in the acceptance process, there is no coupling and thus no cooperative behavior or information exchange in the generation process of each individual SA process. Further, the CSA generates candidate solutions in a pure random sampling, thus does not utilize the information gained during the search. Differential evolution (DE) uses mutation and crossover operators to generate new candidate solutions and thus individuals or candidate solutions cooperate and compete with each other via information exchange, which enable the search for a better solution space. From an evolutionary perspective, this paper presents an evolutionary coupled simulated annealing (CSA), named CSA-DE, by combining the CSA with the differential evolution (DE). In the CSA-DE, the operators of the DE are introduced to generate candidate solutions, thus individual SAs cooperate and compete in both the generation and acceptance processes, which improves the performance of the original CSA. Simulation results on 19 benchmark test functions show that the CSA-DE is better than the CSA and DE.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125453992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes a new approach for solving unconstrained optimization problems with either discrete or continuous design variables. The proposed approach is a pattern search method that is based on univariate search hybridized with the Shaking Optimization Algorithm “SOA”. The computational analysis shows that, for the selected benchmark problems, the proposed approach is a powerful search and optimization technique that may yield better solutions to engineering problems than those obtained using current algorithms for both the solution efficiency and the number of iterations.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128301214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, semantic gap exists between the low-level visual signal processing and high-level semantic understanding of the video event. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based content archive and retrieval framework for surveillance videos. Different from the generalized multimedia ontology framework, surveillance domain ontology is first designed as the content description schema, based on which video data is analyzed to form description files in Web Ontology Language (OWL). And then, a web-based semantic retrieval engine, which is compatible with the OWL query API, is developed to provide indexing service. Case study of “walking people” and “car parking” demonstrates that the proposed framework could generate OWL description of a video clip, and reversely locate the information efficiently.","PeriodicalId":404759,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Advanced Computational Intelligence (ICACI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124685413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
