Çıkartılan kanun ve kararnameler eşliğinde oluşturulan komisyonun idaresinde birçok faaliyet gerçekleştirildi. Ciddi manada kapsamlı çalışmaların yürütüldüğü ve tüm dünya devletlerinin ilgi ve alakasını çeken Cumhuriyetin onuncu yıl dönümü töreni çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilen faaliyetlerden biri de Türk donanmasının icra ettiği donanma manevrası oldu. Bahse konu manevra bizzat dönemin Genelkurmay Başkanı Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak’ın başından sonuna kadar Yavuz muharebe kruvazöründe takip etmesiyle 2-22 Eylül 1933 tarihleri arasında İzmit ve Antalya arasında icra edildi. Manevrayla stratejik ve askeri olarak birçok amaç yerine getirildi. Askeri olarak donanmanın savaş kabiliyetinin ölçülmesi, müşterek harekât kabiliyetinin denenmesi, genel seferber olma yeterliliğinin ölçülmesi ve kötü hava şartlarındaki mukavemetinin test edilmesi gibi teknik boyuttaki pek çok hazırlık durumu gerçek savaş şartlarında uygulanarak donanmanın mevcut durumu görüldü. Manevra sonunda ufak tefek hata ve eksikler haricinde donanmanın verilecek her türlü vazifeye hazır olduğu görülerek askeri hedefe ulaşılmış oldu. Stratejik hedef ise devletin kuruluşundan sonra geçen on yıllık süreçte donanmanın geldiği noktanın tüm dünya devletlerine gösterilmesiydi. Nitekim kurgu-gerçek birlikteliğinin en somut biçimlerinden birini simgeleyen tarihî romanların, dış gerçeklikten bağımsız olmadıkları gözlenebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışma boyunca öncelikle toplumsal-kültürel bellek kavramıyla ifade edilmek istenenin ne olduğu konusuna ve bu kavramla tarih bilimi arasındaki ilişkiye kısaca açıklık getirilecektir. Ardından tarihî romanları ortaya çıkaran etkenlere ve bu etkenlerin toplumsal-kültürel bellek oluşumu üzerindeki etkilerine değinilecektir. Son olarak tarihî romanların özellikle “yeniden canlandırma” ve “eğlendirme” olmak üzere iki ana başlıkta ele alınacak işlevsel özelliklerinin, toplumsal-kültürel bellek kavramının devamlılığının sağlanmasına ve tarih-kimlik-aidiyet bilincinin inşa edilmesine belli düzeyde katkı sunabileceğinden bahsedilecektir. Öte yandan konuyla bağlantılı olarak, kurmaca metinlerin temelini oluşturan anlatı unsurlarının (kişi, zaman, uzam, olay örgüsü) tüm bu faaliyetlerin yürütülmesi sürecinde etkin rol üstlendiği gösterilecektir. {"title":"Ottoman Tradition in The Post-Ottoman Times: A Century of Translating The Mathnawi into Bosnian","authors":"Munir Drkić, Ahmed Zildžić","doi":"10.21497/sefad.1218390","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21497/sefad.1218390","url":null,"abstract":"This article examines the reception of Jalaluddin Rumi's Mathnawi in post-Ottoman Bosnia and Herzegovina through the hitherto published translations of that work in the Bosnian language. The authors inspect the Bosnian translations of the Mathnawi according to contemporary translation studies, the retranslation and relay translation studies in particular. Following the survey and analysis, the authors conclude that the translation of the Mathnawi into the Bosnian language cannot be regarded as a linear historical progression because the process itself reveals a complex and multilayered relationship of the local culture towards the Mathnawi. The principal incentive for the translation of Rumi's masterpiece has been an age-old Ottoman tradition of interpreting the Mathnawi, dating back to the 16th century. Who, which work(s) and which elements, motifs or narratives in the work(s) can be used for this? What methods can be used in this process?” Although we think that all historical texts should be rewritten in the long run, we believe that classical figures and works that have the potential to carry culture should be prioritized. In this process, after the source texts are determined, the main point is that these texts are transformed into a form that today’s people can enjoy. We think that the possibilities of “re-writing”, which is one of the modern text criticism methods, can be used for such a transformation. In this study, Alî Şîr Nevâyî and his work named Sedd-i İskenderî were chosen as an example of the person/work that we think should be re-written because of their characteristics. At the beginning of the study, brief information about the re-writing method will be given and why the classical texts should be re-written will be discussed. Afterwards, it will be evaluated why we suggested Alî Şîr Nevâyî and his Sedd-i İskenderî for re-writing. Then it will be questioned what kind of organization can be used to carry out a re-writing process that we mean. With a reductionist approach, this new coronavirus disease outbreak has been regrettably confined to the simple matter that humans are exposed to viral pathogens of certain wild animals. However, the global reasons and outcomes of the present outbreak should not simply be correlated with the physiologies of a group of animals but with human activities subject to wanton consumption, interference with living spaces, intense commercialization and, particularly, dietary habits. Thus, reconceptualizing pandemics as a multidimensional “ecological crisis” posing a threat to the future of human and nonhuman beings rather than a “disease” endangering human welfare seems to become the sole prerequisite for a significant policy shift in the relationship between humans and animals. With this in mind, the eponymous protagonist of the novel, Elizabeth Costello, a vegetarian like her creator, gives the traces of an ecological philosophy which reinforces the notion that it is not the sheer scientific productivity driven by the rationalization but the reconsideration of animal-human interactions that can prevent post-pandemic era from recurring outbreaks. In the novel, through her understanding of environmental ethics, J. M. Coetzee’s vegetarian and writer protagonist provides discussions that help rethinking literature as one of the guiding disciplines that can offer new insights into the natural habitat of animals. These norms first arise under the categorizations based on biological sexes (male and female) and bring about the development of gender in the course of time. He ascribes power, intelligence, knowledge, reasoning and management skills to himself while charging subordinates with obedience. Woman is defined by meekness and weakness. This does not only apply to biological females but also to powerless males. Omer Seyfettin, who successfully reflects the behavioural norms of his society in his works, fictionalizes the self and identity perceptions in his works “the Rooster” and “the World’s Order” through men and women who bequeath the hierarchical order of gender roles to the next generations. Firstly he presents the dominance of men in the hierarchical relationship between woman and man by exemplifying non-human creatures. The representative value of the male complements the dominance of the rooster, which is shown as its symbol, in the henhouse and the father's dominance at home. Both stories depict the physical and psychological violence against women, man’s self-righteousness about being the head of the household and the justification of it by women. Secondly, the stories describe the man in power or father who introduces himself to a powerless man or his son and narrate that the latter can only claim manhood or power and women may approve of it only after his father or after he has his own home. For this, primary school \u00003rd grade Life Studies textbooks are focused. One or two books were selected from each decade using the purposive sampling technique. \u0000Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used \u0000in the research. The data obtained from the research were subjected to \u0000content analysis and descriptive analysis. According to the data \u0000obtained from the research, the emphasis on nationalization is in the \u0000foreground in the textbooks between the years 1930-1950. In the 1960s, \u0000it was seen that human rights and responsibilities were presented \u0000very limitedly. After the 1970s, progress has been made in the context \u0000of human rights and responsibilities. However, more obedient citizen \u0000model has been adopted. This situation continued in the textbooks \u0000until the 1980s. With the influence of the 1982 Constitution, human \u0000rights in textbooks showed a significant improvement compared to \u0000previous years. However, the real improvement occurred in the 2000s. \u0000This development has been experienced especially in terms of the \u0000diversity of rights and responsibilities. Two prominent concepts are \u0000“privacy of private life” and “fair trial”. As a result, it is aimed to raise \u0000citizens who are suitable for the mentality of the period through \u0000education in Turkey. Consisting of various units such as sense, statement and aesthetic, rhetoric also contains many rules of speech that form sub-units. This discipline which, in general, is applied to as a figure of speech in verse refers to the whole body of rules that regulate the order of expressions in a general sense. Distinguished as an area of research of the classical Turkish Literature, rhetoric also serves as a discipline which concerns linguistics as a result of its interaction with language based on terminology and expression. Its quality as a discipline of rules leads rhetoric to be a question of debate due to certain deficiencies and flaws which appear due to different approaches in application, and this gives rise to certain discussions as regards to the application of rhetoric rules in the works from Turkish Literature. Among these, one example is the tract “Notes to the Rhetoric of the Ottomans” (Ta’lîkât-ı Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye), a book written by Abdurrahman Sureyya as a critique of the rhetorical work by Ahmed Cevdet Pasha titled “The Rhetoric of the Ottomans” (Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye). Identifying the deficiencies in and making the critique of the “The Rhetoric of the Ottomans” of Ahmet Cevdet Pasha, “Notes to the Rhetoric of the Ottomans” is a work featuring linguistic and literary terminologies.
