The current study aimed to investigate the prevalence of root and root canal numbers of maxillary molar in a selected Turkish population. \u0000Materials and Methods: A total of 905 first and second maxillary molars were evaluated using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. The number of roots and canals was recorded and the mesiobuccal canal was further evaluated with the Vertucci classification. \u0000Results: A total of 394 teeth had a second mesiobuccal (MB2) canal (43.5%). While 90.4% of all maxillary molars had three roots, 44% had four root canals. The most common root canal anatomy of mesiobuccal root canals was Type II (42.6%) followed by Type IV (31.5%) and Type III (22.1%). \u0000Conclusions: It is clear that the second mesial root canal in permanent maxillary molars should be carefully searched for the long-term success of root canal treatments. It is seen that CBCT sections will be beneficial in diagnosis and treatment in better understanding the anatomical structure of the teeth and determining possible anatomical deviations.

Cognitive functioning of the elderly was screened through the Mini-Cog test and their levels of physical activity were gathered through the International Physical Activity Questionnaire – Short Form. Diagnosis of constipation was made according to Rome IV criteria. Parametric and non-parametric tests along with logistic regression analysis were utilized in data analysis. \u0000Results: The average age of the participants in the study is 74.16±7.51, 74.1% are female and 46.3% have been receiving institutional care for 2-4 years. It was found that 46.3% of the elderly have constipation and 72% used laxatives. 86% of the elderly in the study stated that they strain too hard during defecation, 86% told that they have hard stool, 72% explained they feel that they have a sensation of incomplete evacuation, 68% told they have a sensation of anorectal obstruction/blockage and 62% stated that they have to manually maneuver to facilitate defecation. It was determined that the prevalence of constipation is significantly higher among females, patients receiving institutional care for a year or less, physically inactive, patients who habitually delay defecation and also among the elderly who consume insufficient amounts of water (p

Our objective was to determine the possible association between the most remarkable functional variants in the paraoxonase 1(PON1), cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), integrin subunit beta 3 (ITGB3) genes and familial CAD. \u0000Materials and Methods: We included 117 patients diagnosed with familial CAD and 99 healthy subjects with no family history of CAD. PON1 Q192R, PON1 L55M, CYP3A4*1G and ITGB3 L33P single nucleotide polymorphisms were genotyped using the Sequenom MassARRAY system. \u0000Results: Comparison of genotype and allele frequencies in inheritance models of polymorphisms between the patient and control groups did not reveal any significant findings related to CAD. Stratified analysis by gender did also not display any association both in females and males. There was no significant difference in the frequencies of the haplotypes of the PON1 Q192R and L55M polymorphisms between the patient and control group. \u0000Conclusion: Our findings confirmed previous studies that did not consider PON1, CYP3A4 and ITGB3 genes as risk loci. The research data were collected using semi-structured interviews during which participants were asked about their socio-demographic characteristics, their experiences of the disease, and the impacts of the disease. The data obtained were grouped according to themes and sub-themes. \u0000Results: The participants identified the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral effects of the disease, including emotional responses at different stages of the disease, attitudes towards the disease, changes in dietary style, over-attention to symptoms and vital findings, and changes in prevention measures after recovery from the disease. Participants also identified stress factors, including uncertainty, periods in quarantine, fear of infecting others, identity as a healthcare worker and stigmatization. The impacts of the disease also included increased empathy for COVID-19 patients as well as change of approach to the COVID-19 patients. \u0000Conclusions: Providing support for the protection of the mental health of healthcare workers who contract the disease is essential to allow them to continue providing quality patient care.
