There is a paradigm shift in the acquisition department at the library. The department act as a catalyst in selecting and providing information resources for university in achieving its mission and vision. The introduction of Patron-driven acquisition (PDA) enables faculty, staff and students to select the books they feel are most needed for their research. This paper presents a conceptual framework of e-book selection practices and library's return on investment (ROI) based on the literature reviews. The main focus is on resource sharing, accessibility, sustainability, support distance education and collection features. The soft dollar saving, the intangible benefits and Just-In-Time are also included in the discussion. The paper will lead to adopting of patron-driven acquisition in e-book selection practice. The framework developed from various empirical studies and literature reviews will be a great contribution to any research done in this area in the near future.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115579518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the combination model of RNN, regression and stepwise regression analysis (SRA) were employed in order to predict the variables of process control chart. Therefore, one maintenance process in workshop of Esfahan Oil Refining Co. (EORC) was taken for illustration of hybrid model. First, the most important factors on forecasting response time as inputs were selected according to SRA. Then, the regression was made for predicting the response time of process based upon obtained inputs, and then the error between actual and predicted response time as output along with input were used in RNN. Finally, according to predicted data from combined model, it is scrutinized for test values in statistical process control whether forecasting efficiency is acceptable. Meanwhile, design of experiments (DOE) was set so as to optimize the RNN in training process of it.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129858484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data are obtained by performing a series of searches on Scopus using relevant keywords. Findings conclude that despite climate change becoming a major issue in recent years, there is still a lack of research activities on building insulation, especially within hot and humid climatic conditions. Most of the research papers found focuses on wall insulation in cold climate. Research in this area needs to be activated and expanded since building insulation is a major component in energy-efficient buildings, in which its application is very important for mitigation of climate change.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"344-346 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116242707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, researchers are encountering issues and challenges when dealing with Grid Task Scheduling (GTS) because of various factors or constraints that influence GTS. This is due to the fact that there is an assortment of characteristics and types of scheduling in Grids. This paper reviews the GTS problems specifically in the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Desktop Grids by identifying the factors such as uncertainties, interruptions, and disturbances that have to be considered when designing the scheduling algorithm. The cause and effect of each factor are also enlightened. The factors are then classified according to the most concerned aspects based on the management layers of P2P Desktop Grid architecture proposed earlier in the related study. The findings may provide some significant guide to model more effective GTS mechanisms in P2P Desktop Grids.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125444741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we re-examine this popular view by estimating an optimal threshold value needed to promote growth. Results show that FDI enhances growth only if it is more than 3.14 percentage of GDP in the case of Malaysia. Hence, policy enablers should ensure an annual increase of FDI influx of more 3.14 percent of GDP to ensure positive and sustainable growth.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131304359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
