A process of research and development was followed after the model of Gall, Gall, XXABSTRACT Borg (2007). Small-scale field trials were first conducted at Gerokgak Woodball Club (GWC), or Gerokgak Woodball Club (GWC) Buleleng-Bali, involving 10 athletes (5 males and 5 females). These were followed by large-scale field trials conducted in Pengkab Woodball Buleleng, or Pengkab Woodball Buleleng-Bali, involving 20 athletes (10 males and 10 females). Data gathered were both quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative descriptive analysis was employed with the (a) observation instruments/observations of the effectiveness of the tool development model; and (b) the athlete response questionnaire as part of the validation process. Qualitative descriptive analysis was applied to data gained from interviews, observations and fieldnotes in processing suggestions for improvement from material experts, media experts, and practitioners. This research produced an effective and appropriate hitting practice tool for beginners in woodball and a guide/instruction on how to use the tool. These wood practice products can be carried or moved in accordance with training needs (portable), can be used to train the consistency of the punch, increase the frequency of hitting exercises, in the open field (outdoor) or in the building (indoor). The wood practice tool can be used by athletes to practice short stroke, medium, long, or finishing/gating.

I look out on a world which few could have predicted six months ago. My\u0000thoughts at that time were all about 2020 as a metaphor for perfect vision and a plea for\u0000it to herald a new period of clarity which would arm us in resolving the whole host of\u0000false divisions that surrounded us. False, because so many appear to be generated by the\u0000use of polarised labelling strategies which sought to categorise humans by a whole range\u0000of identities, while losing the essential humanity and individuality which we all share.\u0000This was a troublesome trend and one which seemed reminiscent of the biblical tale\u0000concerning the tower of Babel, when a single unified language was what we needed to\u0000create harmony in a globalising world.\u0000\u0000However, yesterday’s concerns have, at least for the moment, been overshadowed\u0000by a more urgent and unifying concern with humanity’s health and wellbeing. For now,\u0000this concern has created a world which we would not have recognised in 2019. We rely\u0000more than ever on our various forms of electronic media to beam instant shots of the\u0000streets of London, New York, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong etc. These centres of our\u0000worldly activity normally characterised by hustle and bustle, are now serenely peaceful\u0000and ordered. Their magnificent buildings have become foregrounded, assuming a\u0000dignity and presence that is more commonly overshadowed by the mad ceaseless\u0000scramble of humanity all around them. From there however the cameras can jump to\u0000some of the less fortunate areas of the globe. These streets are still teeming with people\u0000in close confined areas. There is little hope here of following frequent extended hand\u0000washing practices, let alone achieving the social distance prescribed to those of us in the\u0000global North.\u0000\u0000From this desk top perspective, it has been interesting to chart the mood as the crisis\u0000has unfolded. It has moved from a slightly distant sense of superiority as the news slowly\u0000unfolded about events in remote Wuhan. The explanation that the origins were from a\u0000live market, where customs unfamiliar to our hygienic pre-packaged approach to food\u0000consumption were practised, added to this sense of separateness and exoticism\u0000surrounding the source and initial development of the virus. However, this changed to a\u0000growing sense of concern as its growth and transmission slowly began to reveal the\u0000vulnerability of all cultures to its spread. At this early stage, countries who took steps to\u0000limit travel from infected areas seemed to gain some advantage. Australia, as just one\u0000example banned flights from China and required all Chinese students coming to study\u0000in Australia to self-isolate for two weeks in a third intermediate port. It was a step that\u0000had considerable economic costs associated with it. The data were analysed\u0000through an inductive thematic approach which generated two themes: Development\u0000and Practical considerations. The fortieth anniversary of ISCPES and also that of this\u0000journal, that has been the voice of the society’s contribution over that period, has been\u0000and gone. This time it is 2020 that looms on the near horizon. It is a date that has long\u0000been synonymous with perfect vision. Many may perhaps see this as somewhat ironic,\u0000given the themes surrounding change and the directions it has taken, that have been\u0000addressed previously in these pages. Perfect vision and the clarity it can bring seem a\u0000far cry away from the turbulent world to which we seem to be becoming accustomed.\u0000So many of the divisions that we are facing today seem to be internal in nature and far\u0000different from the largely: nation against nation; system against system strife, we can\u0000remember from the cold war era. The US, for example, seems to be a nation perpetually\u0000at war with itself. Democrats v Republicans, deplorables v elites - however you want to\u0000label the warring sides - we can construct a number of divisions which seem to put 50%\u0000of Americans implacably opposed to the other 50%. In the UK, it has been the divide\u0000around the referendum to leave the European Union – the so-called Brexit debate.\u0000Nationally the division was 52% to 48% in favour of leaving. Yet the data can be\u0000reanalysed in, it seems, countless ways to show the splits within a supposedly ‘United’\u0000Kingdom. Scotland v England, London and the South East v the English regions, young\u0000v old are just some of the examples. Similar splits seem to be increasing within many\u0000societies. Hong Kong has recently been the focus of world interest We have watched\u0000this erstwhile model of an apparently successful and dynamic compromise between two\u0000‘diverse’ systems, appear to tear itself apart on our television screens. Iran, Brazil,\u0000Venezuela are just three further examples of longstanding national communities where\u0000internal divisions have bubbled to the surface in recent times. These internal divisions\u0000frequently have no simple and single fault line. In bygone times, social class, poverty,\u0000religion and ethnicity were simple universal indicators of division. Today ways of\u0000dividing people have become far more complex and often multi-dimensional. Social\u0000media has become a means to amplify and repeat messages that have originated from\u0000those who have a ‘gripe’ based in identity politics or who wish to signal to all and\u0000sundry how extremely ‘virtuous’ and progressive they are. The new technologies have\u0000proved effective for the distribution of information but remarkably unsuccessful in the\u0000promotion of communication. This has been exemplified by the emergence and\u0000exploitation of Greta Thunberg a sixteen-year-old from Sweden as a spokesperson for\u0000the ‘Extinction Rebellion’ climate change lobby. It is a movement that has consciously\u0000eschewed debate and discussion in favour of action.
